21 - I just about remember being 21 - it was great, wish I was 21

Pilates is good for flexibility but you would probably find it boring

Went to gym yesterday and strangely found it harder work than on Fri. Is this normal?

Am going again tomorrow though cause I'm determined to get fit and thin for christmas.

Cam · 20/09/2005 14:21

Ye sthat's normal Passionflower, you will be working harder as your muscles get fitter - that's happened to me this week.

Kama, yes I try to do Pilates once a week as I find it a great de-stresser.

What did I like about being 21 ? All that energy (mine runs out nowadays), having an unwrinkled face and nothing sagging, still thinking I could be an actress

Well cos you were all at the gym last night and made me feel really really guilty that I was sat on my fat bum I've been to the gym all day today. That's right ALL day. Did a Pilates class this morning (I'm the duffer of the class -new to Pilates), then went in the fitness room for about an hour. Then for a swim and a sauna, jacuzzi and steam. I was with a friend so just chatting for ages. Got ready and by this time we were starving so needed lunch. Had a naughty bacon and brie baguette - loverrrly. More chatting and in the end had to rush to pick DD up from school. A great day though and fab to have some "me" time. So chilled out now I could just go to sleep.

hour and half personal training today - knackered now!

LadyTophamHatt · 20/09/2005 18:54

A little to late for me to join this one, we cancelled our gym membership today.

I can feel my wobbles returning already.

i need to join too as i get out of breath after 20 mins walking shows how unfit i am!!

PoofieWuddle · 20/09/2005 21:29

kama - it was lovely - think I need to do a bit less pampering/eating and more working out though or I'm gonna be bigger than before I joined.

Mabs - very impressed with your hour and half of presonal training - I would be shattered after that.

albosmum · 20/09/2005 21:44

can i join - i go to the gym 2/3 times a week but do very little - i need motivation

puff · 21/09/2005 10:43

Everyone's working really hard! Well done all!

Did a session in the gym this morning.

Cam · 21/09/2005 12:34

hello albosmum

Well I did go today and did 20 minutes cardio in the gym on cross-trainer and treadmill, then an hour class called Body Conditioning which was basically isometric weight-training. It was hard cos I was tired before I started but I had the reward of a long hot shower and hair wash after.

Been to gym, am soooo pleased with myself today as I had to go up a level on the x-trainer to get my hr over 80. Also have gone up on most of the weights. Tummy muscles are killing tho

Cam · 21/09/2005 13:44

Heart rate 80? You must be fit. Mine whacks up to 100 practically the minute I start exercising

Went swimming last night and did 45 lenghts although its not a full 25m pool. Wanted to do 50 but was absolutely shattered. Have found that its becoming easier to swim...not such a struggle and the breathing is becoming more rythmic rather than the gasps for air. Am going to go tonight and just see how I go. I'm intending to do something active most nights this week as start uni next week so am trying to loose a pound or two before then.

Passionflower well done! how long have you been going to the gym now?

Cam · 21/09/2005 16:08

45 lengths! You're fit too

OP posts:
puff · 21/09/2005 18:48

starshaker · 21/09/2005 18:51

Cam · 23/09/2005 16:36

Hello how's everyone doing? I went to a Bums and Tums Class this morning with a male instructor, trouble was he expected us women to be able to keep up with him. I'm a bit sore already and anyway I'm sure I've ruined the effects by having lunch afterwards in an Italian restaurant with my best friend.

OP posts:
ScrewballMuppet · 23/09/2005 21:49

Cam, no not fit really its a smaller pool and I stop for lots and lots and lots of rests and then a few more. I daren't ask how big the pool actually is as it might spoil the illusion for myself.
Is the male instructor dishy??

Went swimming yesterday...have found it difficult this week to do as much as would of liked as been ill though went swimming yesterday as determined to loose as much weight before monday as possible through excercise....I just can't give up chocolate or crisps or pizza and curries and everything else that is delicous

puffparphooter · 23/09/2005 22:07

Went to the gym this evening.
