Went back to the gym after 8 weeks plus off for summer hols, did a step class and it nearly killed me. I'm aiming for the 3 times a week minimum because I must get fit again. Does anybody wnat to join me on this thread for mutual support and encouragement?

Awww go on try it! Then let us know how you get on.

But seriously just ask them what level of fitness it's aimed at.

KristinaM · 14/09/2005 21:12

Cam - i think you are starting off with all the hard classes, like LBT ( love the BLT bit) and step. Do you need to push yourself so hard? I admit I'm taking things easy at the moment ( as i'm 30 weeks pregnant) but I just do yoga, pilates, body balance and swimming. Nothing high impact.

I also do body pump but only really low weights and not lying on my back. i think you are meant to do lots of reps at a lower weight, then move up, rather than start off with a few reps at high weight. I assume you are trying to tone up rather than build muscle?

The thing that motivates me to go is that getting a creche place is really hard, especially for babies , so once I have a place for DS I HAVE to go to the class.I dont do the gym as I have low motivation and would wimp out after 10 mins. i need someone at the front shouting at me....

Cam · 14/09/2005 21:17

Hi KristinaM, I need to do that type of stuff though as I have been exercising all my life plus have to work harder the older I get as am fighting gravity!

I like Pilates and swimming and fitness yoga too but I have to do high aerobic stuff to shift weight!

Body pump is great for toning but I never put the weights up too much.

Ah ha, now the truth is coming out...you are an adrenalin ( sp?) junkie

KristinaM · 14/09/2005 21:27

Are you going to try boxercise? When I tried body combat it just made me giggle........

puff · 14/09/2005 22:03

I'm not sure my body is ready for boxercise !

northender · 14/09/2005 22:29

Would love to join the thread. I've been back to the gym tonight after a couple of weeks of excuses! Have got my mum roped in to look after dd & ds while I go to body conditioning tomorrow. I'll let you know what condition my body's in afterwards!! My aim is major weight loss so could do with success similar to puff and jac34.

Cam · 15/09/2005 08:51

That's probably it KristinaM, I have to get my kicks somewhere!

Weight loss is a funny thing with exercise because muscle weighs more than fat I tend to think about being more toned and slimmer rather than getting on the scales.

Anyway I'm off to the gym this morning so I'll speak later, have a good day everyone!

...the gym and then on to a large lunch eh Cam? How many hours in the gym to work off the Thorntons Choccy bikkies eh? xx

northender · 15/09/2005 19:49

Can confirm after body conditioning class today, I am totally out of condition!! Felt good after it though and am pleased that I've done it. Haven't got much time tomorrow so maybe a rest day and then back to the gym on Saturday.

Passionflower · 15/09/2005 20:18

Off to the gym tomorrow to do my programe all the way through for the first time...I'll let you know if I can still move tomorow night!

Cam · 16/09/2005 08:15

hello Mabs, did you get to the gym last night? I noticed you were very restrained with the choccy bics that you brought to the lunch

Passionflower, good luck, how long is your programme, an hour?

I won't be going today because I have to do tons of h/work but apparently that uses up lots of calories

Passionflower · 16/09/2005 13:01

Am going agin on monday.

How's everyone else getting on?

Cam · 16/09/2005 14:01

GP said no exercise until this asthma gets under control so once steroids are working I am planning to start next week which will be easier because DS will be in school full time .. yippee

I will return to play on Monday when I am planning to go for first workout .. lungs permitting

Cam · 16/09/2005 14:19

Hate to be an exercise pooper but you're not supposed to exercise with any virus (even a cold), hope you're not feeling too bad

Cam · 16/09/2005 14:20
