Managed a gym session today. Great as there were only about 4 of us in the whole gym. 5 days in and feeling good if a tad sore!! Don't think I could quite manage boxercise yet!

Cam · 18/09/2005 16:01

My biceps are hurting today from yesterday's body combat.

Good afternoon, fellow gym attendees, this morning I went to a step class then a tiny swim and a little steam. Am determined to get very fit before Christmas.

Went to the gym 5 times last week and a couple of swims. Already starting to find it less exhausting and building up my time on the cardiovascular equipment. Hope I can keep it up!

Cam · 19/09/2005 13:04

Good girl, puff, so you're less out of puff tham before?
I'm finding the exercise classes slightly more tiring if anything but then I don't have youth on my side. I am feeling more energetic for the rest of the day though.

lol Cam !

I'm hoping to graduate to aerobic type classes in a few weeks - you do see results from them quicker as you say, but I know my body isn't ready for the onslaught yet - it's 10 years since I did a step class (Oh to be 30 and svelt again ).

Cam · 19/09/2005 14:25

I'd settle for the svelte

Anyone else go to the gym today?

mancmum · 19/09/2005 15:29

just been for my gym workout with a trainer -- only did upper arms for 30 mins and they are shaking like mad now... going swimming tonight so that should make incapable of moving them at all tomorrow!!

I was wondering whether to pay for a one off session with a personal trainer - would you recommend it mancmum?

I've been given a programme by one of the gym staff, but I'm wondering whether the personal trainers are more knowledgeable.

ScrewballMuppet · 19/09/2005 15:42

Ooh can I join...though its swimming mainly that I'm aiming to do at the mo?

puff · 19/09/2005 15:44

How many times a week are you aiming to go Screwball?

mancmum · 19/09/2005 15:56

I totally recommend 1:1 training sessions particularly if they are as good looking as the one I have!! They really make you work out and enure proper technique so less likely to hurt in the morning... I am planning on having 1 a week until Xmas I did have a personal trainer a couple of years ago and the difference she made to my fitness and motivation was amazing... left to my own devices I am crap and that is the reason I now look lardy and am 1 stone overweight at least... expensive but worth it!!

Cam · 19/09/2005 16:04

Swiss ball is whre you do exercises sitting and laying on a giant bouncy ball!

85 at the christening party Mabs

Kama, running for a full hour? Gym 5-7 times a week? Are you very young or very fit or both

Screwball, course you can join in - swimming's good for you!

ScrewballMuppet · 19/09/2005 16:14

Puff I'm going swimming for two days in a row then have a day or two off then repeating that. I intend to replace swimming with the gym or an excercise class now and then just to vary it.
I injured my foot a while back and I'm still a little wary of running on it which is my first love.

Have you been convinced on boxercise yet? it is fantastic so I've been told especially for doing abs. How many lenghts are you managing to do? I've been finding that each time I go I can go a little further

starshaker · 19/09/2005 20:28

can i join this thread joind a gym today got my induction today

PoofieWuddle · 19/09/2005 20:38

Can I join this thread too. I'm new to MN and I'm a serial gym joiner. Joined my latest gym in the summer holidays and have been going 2-3 times a week - wonder how long that will last though.

PoofieWuddle · 19/09/2005 21:46

There's a class starting at my gym called Body Balance - wondering if anyone has tried it. Think it is a cross between yoga/pilates/tai chi.

PoofieWuddle · 19/09/2005 21:58

Oh dear am I the only one sitting on my lardy ass while you are all sweating it out at the gym?

puff · 19/09/2005 23:18

Poofie, I was at the gym when you posted !

Mancmum - think I will book a session with a p trainer then.

Screwball - I haven't tried the boxercise yet - think I'll peer through the window when a class is on as the first step !

Swiss ball sounds good - I think they do them at the club, but call them something different.

Thanks for starting this thread Cam, nice to see so many people wanting to join in and support each other. I will need a kick up the bum when the cold weather really sets in - I know I won't want to leave the comfort of the sofa.

Cam · 20/09/2005 10:02

Welcome starshaker , let us know how it went, and poofie

Puff you're putting the rest of us to shame

Anyway I'm not going today but I will be back there tomorrow
