Women - don't lose your daughters' rights

Isthisexpected · 02/07/2024 11:54

I came across two women this morning at playgroup who have no idea that the Greens, Labour, Lib Dems all have policies that will privilege men with various gender identities over women.

Please please before you vote - look up what each party believes is a woman. This will tell you all you need to know about whether they'll protect your daughter from having to change in front of a person born male, or share a tent with them at camp or compete against them in sport, or share a toilet and living room in a women's refuge....

I'm not telling you who to vote for. But please be informed about women's rights, for your daughters/grandchildren if not yourself.

OP posts:

I will not be voting Labour (although ordinarily I would) because my candidate believes that trans women are women and believes the question What is a woman? is not an issue that affects many people (ie apparently its not an issue that affects 50% of the electorate!)

Reducing people to their genitalia is dehumanising and reductive. I’m increasingly feeling that I have far more in common with trans women than some natal women.

No you fucking don't because they are men. MEN.

Weirdly, I wasn't concerned about what a woman was when I was unable to get simple gynaecological care and ended up screaming in agony for several days.

I really do. And the more the likes of you shout at me, the less I have in common with you.

And no I’m not a man before you start that nonsense.

Shame so many people are gleeful in their desire to vote for parties knowing full well that their policies will hurt girls and women, and send children down a slippery path to sterilisation and disfigurement.

People can’t change sex and pandering to a legal fiction is not only bad law, it gives more privelege and power to men, and a nice little loophole for all the pervs, deviants, abusers, criminals and misogynists.

Once Labour get in and every female you know has a grim story to tell (like the statistic that most women have experienced sexual harassment) it’ll be too late to wrestle these rights back. Too late.

Thats why it’s not just a ‘single issue’ or a ‘niche issue’ or God forbid, a ‘trans issue’. It affects 51% of the population and it’s an existential question of the importance of female biology in defining fundamental and significant human rights protections in law.

Waving it away as irrelevant is naive. And dangerous.

NoseNothing · 02/07/2024 20:25

Anyone else feel sorry for the poor women trying to enjoy a playgroup with their kids, only to be lectured about this by the OP?

I attend baby classes and playgroup every week. Politics is not discussed. I bet OP gave a right lecture on it too. Criiiiinge.

DuesToTheDirt · 02/07/2024 20:26

It's not just about toilets. It's not just about changing rooms. It's not just about rape, sexual assault, peeping toms, upskirting, wanking in the presence of women, and all the other things that really only males do.

It's about every time that women meet as a group (did you read the post about the women's cycling group that folded after a transwoman joined? and the many posts about the WI, and how the dynamic changes when transwomen are included, to the detriment of the women?). It's about women's quotas on boards and committees (and why do we have that in the first place? to improve representation of women, not of men). It's about not having misogynistic males like Munroe Bergdorf as the face of UN women, but having actual women who are working for women, rather than a man who is only working on his breast enhancements. It's about allowing lesbians to have women-only meetings or dating apps without being threatened by violent males who want to force their way in.

Yes, this has happened under the Tories and the SNP, not under Labour. It's time for a pushback, not a rush to make things even worse for us.

You're ignoring the fact that women and girls are suffering incredible pain or dying from poor or non existent medical treatment under the current government.

No, I will not vote for that. Not now, not ever.

@MimitteAndElsaGoToSwitzerland
its totally not something I thought about at all until the last few years when suddenly it became a major issue. I didnt think about it because I just knew I was one. But now that lots of men are winning medals in womens sports competitions/business awards, being put in womens wards in hospitals (even demanding gynae care and joining mennopause support groups fgs), womens loos and all the other ways men are invading womens spaces.......I think its imperative that we all give this issue our attention.

I nearly died myself. I was in so much pain that morphine couldn't touch it. I was screaming even in my sleep. Because I have a womb that the Conservative government couldn't care one fucking iota about.

And you're worried about sodding medals? 😡

I'm leaving this thread now before I say what I really think.

i didn’t say that / i asked you how keeping trans women out of female spaces helps them. if you can’t provide any evidence that’s your issue.

i was hospitalised this year due to endometriosis. morphine not touching the pain - and even with my case being urgent and priority i have a years wait for the treatment?

funnily enough access healthcare is more important than medals.

you said how you can’t get safer than no males in female spaces. i showed how for the majority female only spaces would not have made them safer.

show me the proof that those 5 in 6 would have been safer in female only spaces.

and yet many would agree that the tories policies will hurt girls and women. why would people want that?

I didn't say they were safer.
Your exact question was how does that help the little girl whos dad comes into her bedroom?
I answered how single sex spaces helped me when I was that girl.

DISCLAIMER: It wasn't my Dad who abused me. I think it's only fair that I point that out.

and my questions weee in response to a poster claiming that it can’t get much safer than makes not in female spaces. i explained how that is not true because majority of the time they are not being raped in those circumstances.

all are awful. so i should be ok with my child being malnourished and have a poor education if it means that males can’t access female spaces? but she can still be raped and attacked in other situations?

no thanks
