Why aren't Reform voters ashamed?

They don't seem to care that everyone will know they're racists.

It seems incredible to me that people are open about voting for them.

Agree. It's quite obvious being on here a few years, that most Mumsnetters live down south-London, Home Counties etc...

London, that well known white enclave....

Good luck ending trafficking networks.

Good luck ending illegal immigration by sending 300 people a year out of 80,000 to another country 😂
Honestly I am so looking forwards to this soundbite, easy solution, Johnson-esque nonsense being history I can't tell you

EasternStandard · 03/07/2024 18:17

Smash the Gangs is as soundbite as it comes

Weirdly though pro Labour think it’ll work when no other country is relying on that. Even the EU which has billions to throw at the problem. I wonder why they haven’t done the same and ended all trafficking Hmm

‘Smash the gangs’ is however more likely to be a decent recruiter for both Reform and traffickers.

I honestly think Rwanda would have been effective as a deterrent very quickly to the people who were really economic migrants rather than having a valid claim for asylum. That, and an end to endless repeated appeals at the tax payers expense.

Already it seems that some people have delayed getting on boats until after the election because they know that Labour will cancel the Rwanda policy and they have a better chance of staying put. If that's not proof that Rwanda would have been a great deterrent I don't know what is.

It also gave Ireland a bigger headache by moving people across the border

That will likely reverse

Notaflippinclue · 03/07/2024 19:21

Do any Mumsnetters live in Bradford Burnley Blackburn Blackpool Oldham Stoke Birmingham and on and on not to mention Ireland

jigglywigglyhungryhippo · 03/07/2024 19:44

People like to vilify parties like Reform or other more right wing parties because the current major parties have not listened to the majority of the people. It's all well and good for when you're not directly affected by issues such as NHS waiting times, mass immigration, cost of living etc- which the majority of Mumsnet seem to fall into with their 100k plus incomes.

This is not just isolated to the UK- it's across Europe and Australia. Ask yourselves why Right wing politicians are being voted in???

I've historically been a Tory voter, but will be voting Lib Dem even though I don't agree with every point of their manifesto.

I can imagine believe you vote reform feel the same.

Calling others bigots and racists and uneducated is not helping anyone but creating more of a polarised population. So it needs to stop.

I think that everyone who doesn’t have a vested interest in private healthcare companies wants to reduce NHS waiting times. Remember this TV advert from 2016? I feel sorry for the people who fell for these lies. Given that the NHS relies heavily on staff from overseas, restricting immigration wasn’t going to help. Nor has the NHS received that extra £350 million per week.

There is a saying 'thick as shit and twice as stupid' this sums up reform voters

MrJollyLivesNextDoor · 03/07/2024 23:37

@TwigletsAndRadishes

Bless you, you seem to be labouring under the misconception that I'm interested in your opinion.

You're a reform voter. I reserve the right to assume you must be dense.

100% This.

Yes we’ll have ‘smash the gangs’

A policy no other country who is dealing with trafficking would attempt to sell to their electorate.

For good reason

Why would you not want to smash the gangs?

MadameMassiveSalad · 04/07/2024 05:02

100% agree @CassieMaddox !

EasternStandard · 04/07/2024 07:02

MadameMassiveSalad · 04/07/2024 05:01

Why would you not want to smash the gangs?

Not a soundbite repeated there at all

Why do you think you can end all trafficking networks and why hasn’t the EU, US and Aus given the combined billions spent on the issue?

Starmer seems to be alone in thinking he can end trafficking

Selling in ‘smash the gangs’ relies on very low understanding of what trafficking networks are - multi billion funded organisations with marketing, recruitment etc

So to that I say good luck because seeing numbers go up will be good for traffickers’ profit and probably Reform support

That would be great.

Not because I'm in favour of seeing a buffoon like Sir Ed Davey as LOTO but because I'd love to see the Tories' faces if that happened.
