Labour can't win

Unless absolutely SHEDLOADS of people who voted Conservative in 2019 vote Labour this time.

That's right, isn't it?

I really don't see what personal appearance has to do with their political beliefs.

Disparaging a woman for what she looks like? Really?

If shedloads of former tories stay at home and shedloads of people who stayed at home vote Labour, it could work.

This is one of the scenarios I think could happen. Very low turnout because Tory voters stay at home rather than vote Labour. It's what happened at the by elections Labour won from the Torys.

We need them to win by enough to form a majority government. The last thing we need after the current shower is a split parliament who can’t get anything done

I’m hoping they’ll win a good majority but not a supermajority.

The interesting thing will be whether any other party gets the votes to be a strong opposition - and, if so, which party.

as much as I don’t like them I hope conservatives are still the opposition as the thought of Reform in that position is just scary!

"Horse face Rayner"

Cause what women need is not just men being misogynistic pricks, but women too.

Well done for being a twat, PP.

Object to Rayners for her politics if you must, but why comment on her face?

Exactly. Totally agree with this.

It's always the woman who gets their appearance criticised. Why not just discuss the politics? Appearance has nothing to do with it

wheresthebigcarrot · 29/06/2024 19:35

@RonaTkinson ah you're of the EDL persuasion. Shocking.

Circumferences · 29/06/2024 19:35

It's looking like Labour will actually win fewer votes than Labour did with Jeremy Corbyn, but because the Tory vote is disrupted by Reform, they'll win spectacularly.

Then it's "business as usual" for austerity, dismantling the NHS, Shit pothole roads for eternity..... Wonderful 👍

GreenSmithing · 29/06/2024 19:36

It's not just voting intention changing; it's also demographic change. Conservative voters are older - average age 62 - and are starting to die off. The Labour vote is much higher in the 18 - 24 cohort that has entered the electorate since the last election.

This explains it quite well: www.itv.com/news/2024-06-20/are-conservative-voters-literally-dying-out

DinnaeFashYersel · 29/06/2024 19:37

I predict a Labour majority of circa 80.

Labour is going to win by a massive majority.

I am surprised that anyone is doubting this, especially as late in the proceedings as this.

RedRobyn2021 · 29/06/2024 19:39

I think they probably will tbh

I couldn't vote for them because I don't agree with some things Keir has said regarding women (also I can't stand him tbh)

I didn't know who to vote for so voted conservative again (postal vote) I'm glad it's over and let the chips fall where they may, I've felt quite anxious about it for a while, can't wait for it to be over have a horrible uneasy feeling

I'm so looking forward to hearing the likes of Starmer, Streeting, Reeves etc crowing on July 5th about how the British people have given 'changed' Labour their endorsement. Starmer changed the Labour Party for the better and the people have rewarded us. I can hear it now. God, I can't bear it.

12.8 million votes Corbyn got in 2017. Starmer can only dream of numbers like that. People aren't voting for him, they're voting against something else.

StripedPiggy · 29/06/2024 19:42

Yes, that’s basically correct. And Labour need those voters to switch in areas which traditionally voted Labour, but elected Tory MPs in 2019, eg Mansfield, Stoke, Blyth etc etc.
All the evidence of all the hundreds of opinion polls which have been carried out since this campaign started indicates that that is exactly what is going to happen and that Labour are going to win back the seats it needs from the Tories. Plus a large number from the SNP in Scotland. And the Lib Dems are going to win plenty of seats from the Tories, particularly in affluent parts of the country which voted Remain in 2016 & where most people believe Brexit has been a disaster.

I think you missed a digit off the front of that...

The median prediction is 280, the most pessimistic is around 40, the most optomistic around 400....

Oi! I'm over 62 and I have no intention of dying off any time soon. Nor do I have any intention of voting Conservative (and even less intention to vote for the terminally ghastly Reform).

You wish.

Cos everyone loves Rishi don’t they😂

Isnt he the most unpopular prime minister ever?

Labour are going to win and win big. I can’t wait.

Agreed. The polls won't be 100% accurate, they never are, but they would have to be hugely, wildly wrong for Labour not to win a large majority.
