Unless absolutely SHEDLOADS of people who voted Conservative in 2019 vote Labour this time.

That's right, isn't it?

They have slightly better answers on how they will protect women's rights against all the trans bollocks.

Whilst using that as a distraction so that women don't challenge why the conservative tax policies effect them more than men. A female chancellor may help shift this focus.

I don’t think the conviction that they’re right is any stronger than that of the Tories while they were making a dog’s dinner of everything they touched. My own opinion is that unless there is serious change, anyone with a shred of morality would never vote Tory again after the ‘mad and immoral’ shitshow of the last few years of their rule. I think they’re finished, not only as a government but as a party.

You prefer a party (Labour) who created a dodgy dossier to start an illegal war killing hundreds of thousands (as well as world wide migrants) to the Tories making a dogs dinner? You need to check your moral compass, it is askew. I used to vote Labour but got blood on my hands due to those liars. Why people still vote for those warmongers is beyond me. I'll vote for neither of them.

He did indeed. And then we had Cameron. 😱

Ah yes David Cameron. Did ever anybody have so much to answer for?

As Boris said in 2019 lots of labour aupporters lent him their votes. He decided to use those votes to party in Downing Street while flicking the Vs to to them, Sunak then sent them the bill in his tax rises. Highly unlikely the loan will be renewed.

Yes. Johnson made the red wall voters who turned Tory look like idiots.

😂😂😂😂

Do you really not understand the widespread hatred of the Tory party?

You're in a bubble. Not everyone wants rid of the Tories in favour of Labour. That's not my personal view, but get out there and listen to other views. I live in a constituency where Tories are bound to win

Dymaxion · 29/06/2024 20:27

I think the biggest problem the Conservatives are having, is that the Party haven't acted in a way ( over the last 14 years ) that people who traditionally vote Conservative can respect. They simply don't appear 'Conservative' anymore. Just as the Labour party struggled with momentum , I think the Conservatives are struggling with the 'Trussenomics' side of their party.

TeamPolin · 29/06/2024 20:27

I live in one of the safest Tory seats in the country and I haven't seen 1 Tory sign in a window anywhere since campaigning started. There are loads of Labour signs in people's windows...

Labour are going to win provided people turn out and vote.

Justcallmebebes · 29/06/2024 20:13

You're also all forgetting anything can happen. Tory/Reform coalition could form a majority? Don't take anything for granted

If Reform were to join the Tories, do you not think that it might put off as many Tory voters as it attracts? Reform has been badly tainted by the recent recent racist/misogynist revelations and, whilst that might not put off their die hard voters it might disenchant more moderate older voters.

Labour were in power from 1997 until 2010. That is not going south quickly!

The 2010 GE was not a resounding victory for the Tories, despite the anger over the Iraq war, hence the coalition.

Hence how a coalition is a possibility next week!

Zotter · 29/06/2024 20:28

The thought of another five years of Tories fills me with despair - further growing inequality and living standards declining further for so many. Don’t expect miracles with Labour but give some hope.

Will never forgive the wrecking ball that was austerity.

I am actually worried to be honest, because I have seen a mixture of people saying they are voting for Reform, LibDems, Green, and Labour, (and some will be voting Conservatives they are just not admitting it!) But there seems to be no majority for any!

I am worried because there seems to be a split. As I said, no huge majority for any particular party. And I am worried it will go like......, 10% Reform, 7% Green, 23% Lib Dems, 27% Labour, 4% for 'other,' and 29% for Conservatives. So they (Cons) will win. Although with a narrow majority like that they will very likely have to be in a coalition with another party.

Some people are voting LibDems, and an equal amount of people seem to be voting Labour. I can honestly see it being a split vote with no majority, or a Conservative majority.

People should not assume Labour are going to win!

Can you link to the polls you're seeing which show this kind of split? Where did you get the information from?

Because it's the opposite of what I (and many others on this thread) have seen.

Also, % of the vote doesn't directly translate into number of seats, as that's not how our system works. It depends on the geographical spread of those votes, at a constituency level.

Yes, he did. Rough sleeping numbers drastically reduced, Sure Start, Good Friday, waiting lists cut, free museum and gallery entry, child poverty seriously addressed, I could go on.

There were notable exceptions but the idea Blair/New Labour were ineffectual is laughable. They handled the GFC very well, before that gets brought up, and it was brought about by the reckless actions of Rishi Sunak and many traders like him, many of whom make up the ranks of the Conservative Party.

Charlie2121 · 29/06/2024 20:29

There are some seriously misinformed people on this thread.

Labour will win a huge majority without attracting a single new voter. They could even receive fewer votes than they did at the last GE and still end up winning by a mile.

In what is effectively a 2 party state if one party splits into 2 it guarantees the other party wins by a landslide without attracting a single new voter.

Labour will win the biggest majority in living memory with barely 40% of the vote. If everyone voting Conservative and Reform voted for a single party Labour would lose.

It says a lot about Labour that in the current climate their support is so poor.

I suspect their reign will be short lived primarily because many people are voting to oust the current government rather than in favour of Labour.

I think the next GE will be a very different ball game. Starmer and Labour are already living on borrowed time. Their approval ratings are awful considering they’ll receive a huge majority. That is because their landslide will be due to an opposition split rather than any pro-Labour support.

Exactly. Johnson purged the One Nation moderate Tories.

The tories would have taken us into the Iraq war just as Labour did. That's not a point of difference between them.

If you don't believe me, Wikipedia has a summary of the parties voting for/against.

(The tories voted Aye, for those who cba to follow the link.)

I agree to a point, but many die hards will turn a blind eye to that. I'm not saying it's a given and I tend to agree, change is desperately needed, just not sure Labour under Starmer is the answer and I'm as politically homeless as the next person.

Just saying, anything can happen and never underestimate the means those will go to to cling to power

Same here. It's been Tory here since 1950. Only Labour posters in town, Labour leaflets hand delivered to homes by the Labour candidate who, with a team of supporters was standing talking with passers by in the high street this morning. Also there's a massive billboard with Don't Vote Tory up on a main road into town.

A huge influx of younger people to a new estate here/Covid have changed the demographic. Things are really different here than they were in 2019.

I’m sure I read somewhere that the age point at which more people tended to be a Conservative used to be 40.

Nowadays it’s 71.

I''m 64 and I'm not there yet. And I hope I drop dead before it happens.

Yeah, one of the very few constituencies….

When Truss crashed the economy there was some expert in saying no government is voted back in after this at the next election. He cited several US and UK governments who all lost power after such an event.

Truss has fucked the Tories.

They will win. Unfortunately. Because the torie vote will be split between torie, labour and Reform.
Also a lot of the previous SNP voters will be voting labor.

Who is torie?! 😂😂😂
