General election 2024

Women voting for Labour?

bearsbritches · 04/06/2024 09:40

To wonder why women would be voting for Labour when they support trans rights over women's rights? I am concerned we are going to descend even further into all of this 'woke' madness and it is women who bear the brunt.

Starmer has back peddled on the self ID policy all of a sudden before the election, shock, but we can't trust that.

I certainly won't be voting for the Tories and can't bring myself to vote Labour for many reasons. Where does that leave disillusioned voters?

Hmm. OP won’t vote Labour because of trans and women’s rights….but will vote Reform which is led by Farage who’s supporting Donald Trump who took away the federal right to abortion.

Be honest OP, you don’t give a shit about women’s rights. This was a party logical broadcast by the Reform Company (because it’s not a party it’s a limited company).

IClaudine · 04/06/2024 16:02

Well NF wants to abolish the NHS and bring in an insurance based system.

He thinks Muslims want to take over the UK and blames them for all the UK's ills.

That is just for starters. He and Reform are, to borrow a phrase from Angela Rayner, scum.

I love the intelligent nature of political debate on MN. 😂

Gemmahearts94 · 04/06/2024 16:17

I think it comes down what's a bigger issue.

labour- Big on trans rights

Tory- Big on favouring the wealthy and trying to draft our kids into war

Reform- Big on racist and privatising the NHS

ill choose the lesser of the evils.

we aren't all gonna agree but thats the point of a democracy

I think you mean:

Labour - massive misogynists

ActivePeony · 04/06/2024 18:00

Rosaluxemberg · 04/06/2024 17:31

@Gemmahearts94 I don’t think Labour are that big on ‘trans rights’ tbh. There’s a lot of trans people saying they’ve no one to vote for as essentially Labour and the Tories are singing from the same hymn sheet.

No Labour just treat women like we count for nothing. Tell me - what rights do trans people not actually have?

NB do not include the 'right' of male people to invade women's sex segregated spaces please

Katypp · 04/06/2024 18:02

Rosaluxemberg · 04/06/2024 15:40

Lol. Do you engage with benefit claimants ? Shudder.

Eh? What are you on about?

ActivePeony · 04/06/2024 18:02

Proudofitbabe · 04/06/2024 16:11

I find it incredible anyone would disregard Labour's nutty and yellow-bellied stance on this. It's not just women's rights, it's the broader issue that Starmer is prepared to repeat the lie with a straight face that some women have dicks. That says to me he's not the man to take charge of any of our other many issues - but I wouldn't vote Labour anyway, and agree the Tories have been appalling.'

Agree.

ActivePeony · 04/06/2024 16:50

Yes OP - some of these people are just dickheads I'm afraid. Ignore the abuse.

Calling people with different opinions dickheads sounds like abuse to me.

ActivePeony · 04/06/2024 18:07

You are right of course and the irony is not lost on me. I just get so pissed off at the constant insults, accusations of being Tory bots from Russia whatever from Left leaning people who are seemingly incapable of understanding that other people may not want to vote in the same way as them. And it is ALWAYS from the Left.

The dickhead remark was out of order but was not aimed at anyone personally.

You're not the only one. The moralistic aggressive lecturing on here is painfully predictable. We will find out how people actually feel next month!

Not really to do with the thread but I’m glad that pp was deleted

Looks like all their posts are gone

Yes, I noticed their posts on this thread and also on some other threads from the past few days. Reported them all and MNHQ confirmed it was a PBP.

Considering you've just heaped abuse at every single poster who has dared disagree with you, the irony here is appalling.

I don't actually think people who disagree with me are Tories, bots or Russians. I just think they're wrong. And they think I'm wrong. And that's fine because we live in a democracy.

FWIW I've been called an MRA and told I'm a man because I disagree with single issue feminism. It is absolutely not the case that one side of this debate holds all the people who are sweetness and light and the other is the opposite - there are firebrands on both sides.

It's sad, because if we look at the issues calmly, there's more agreement than disagreement. I want the Cass report implemented. I do not want men in women's prisons, or women in men's prisons. I do not want men in women's sports, and I want single sex wards in the NHS. However, I see issues around the welfare of women and their rights beyond just this, as do the majority of female voters. My main issue is support for disabled people, because I have a disabled young adult child and the so-called 'reforms' to PIP as suggested by the Tories would have a massive adverse effect on him.

Do you think any of those proposals are less than scummy? Why?

HRTQueen · 04/06/2024 19:41

Because I am not in the position to put my concerns over males sharing my space over my my standard of living for myself and family and our home

I have like the majority of people have more pressing issues to worry about

Yes and I genuinely think that the result will not be the one that is currently being predicted.

Not so. My comment - which I have acknowledged was not great - was aimed at the Left leaning posters who continually call anyone who disagrees with them twats, thickos, Tory bots etc. Please do not misrepresent me.

Thank you!

NF is very dangerous, as is his PLC. He deserves no politeness from me.

I don't think it's acceptable to label those with differing opinions as 'scum'. The comment was not calling policies 'scummy', it was labelling people as 'scum'. I know that Rayner thinks that this is ok but it's really not.

I wouldn't call many people scum, but NF is. He is a racist boor who has done terrible damage to the UK. If only we could ship him off somewhere.

If he wins Clacton it will be bad news for all of us, moderate Tories included.

ActivePeony · 04/06/2024 20:21

I agree that he has done great harm and that he is an unpleasant character. I would not call him 'scum' though. I am sad that Rayner has seemingly made this word so acceptable when talking about political opponents.

I think it is very fair to attach that epithet to him.

You'd best not read Bevan's speech about the Tories!
