Women voting for Labour?

bearsbritches · 04/06/2024 09:40

To wonder why women would be voting for Labour when they support trans rights over women's rights? I am concerned we are going to descend even further into all of this 'woke' madness and it is women who bear the brunt.

Starmer has back peddled on the self ID policy all of a sudden before the election, shock, but we can't trust that.

I certainly won't be voting for the Tories and can't bring myself to vote Labour for many reasons. Where does that leave disillusioned voters?

Ah the telegraph, that well known defender of the northern working class.
Most tory MNetters hate AR. They’ve used the most disgusting insults to mock her in the past, accent, dress sense, lack of intelligence whilst reassuring us that the tories are more in tune with the red bloody wall. Seems that she’s not the right kind of wc woman, too gobby by far I expect. Such mind blowing hypocrisy.

So you have not read the article then? It is about the coarsening of debate which is relevant to what I was saying.

Is that why you have called yourself underthinker? Nice! Very clever.

Oh look a crap insult from a Leftist. Again. 🙄

What exactly is it you want? Do you want everyone to have to pull their pants down at the door and prove they're a women before going into the toilet - what about if they've had the surgery? Why is it ok for lesbians to be in shared spaces if you're assuming all trans people are attracted to women and actively aroused in their presence? I'm just interested in how you think 'looking after single sex spaces' would truly work in your opinion. Should we just round up all trans people and send them to Rwanda?

Stop with your homophobia please.

ActivePeony · 05/06/2024 18:02

Proudofitbabe · 05/06/2024 11:30

@CharlotteB94 yes correct. For me he's stupid or lying if he says some women have dicks. He's said it and it's a blatant raving lie.

For the record It's not me fascinated with anything, I'm not the one trying to upend years of accepted language, norms and social protocols.
I just want the Prime Minister to speak truth and use correct language which also has the side effect of protecting women's rights. I don't think my stance is the ridiculous one.

THIS.

ActivePeony · 05/06/2024 18:06

You're arguement is but they're attracted to women and they might be looking at me, in my experience the majority of trans men I've heard of or met are actually attracted to men, so they're effectively gay men, if you insist on calling them men, so no they're most probably not attracted to you, so by that logic you should also not allow lesbians into changing rooms because they might fancy you too. Nonsense

More homophobia. Plus you are wrong - most transwomen are older straight men. They often claim to be lesbians - which is incredibly homophobic.

I meant trans women not men.

ActivePeony · 05/06/2024 18:09

Yes I got that. My point is still correct.

Boom1234 · 05/06/2024 18:09

Personally, I think if someone is willing to transition purely just to access women’s single sex spaces and sexually assault them then they’re probably the kind of person who’d find a way of doing so anyway. It’s just incredibly unlikely anyone is transitioning for that reason.

I believe trans women are women so perfectly happy to support any party or policies that support them and give them the same rights as other women.

I also think Labour, though in my opinion far from perfect, have far better policies for working people and I’d quite like the country to be in a state where my children can find secure and well-paid work.

Gemmahearts94 · 05/06/2024 18:10

How is it homophobic to suggest that a lot of trans women are attracted to men? Of course not all, but the point is if the majority were to be attracted to men, then surely the women in the changing rooms have nothing to fear?

IAmNotASheep · 05/06/2024 18:10

CassieMaddox · 05/06/2024 17:56

The Conservatives also think there are two types of women - "legal" women and "biological" women. And they are going to let businesses choose to continue to allow TW in women's spaces.

Here's Kemi explaining it all

Incorrect
They plan to legislate against it.
To a certain extent they already have with
revisions to Building regs for new buildings and
single rooms in hospitals

So if men are going to assault women anyway - why make it easier for them? As for changing the way you dress and calling your self a woman to get to attack women? Not a stretch at all. Men train as teachers, priests etc to get access to women and children - again, why make it easier for them?

I believe trans women are women
You are saying 'I believe that men are women'. The defining characteristic of a transwoman is that he is male. That's it.

It is homophobic (lesophobia in fact) to claim that bloody men are ok to be in our changing rooms because lesbians might be FGS. Check out the sex crime stats and maybe you might change your mind.

AllProperTeaIsTheft · 05/06/2024 18:18

I actually don't think 99% of trans people want to make women feel uncomfortable but probably also don't want to walk into a men's changing room literally looking like and presenting as a woman either.

And why does their desire not to go into a men's changing room trump the desire of women not to have biological males in the women's changing room? Why is transwomen's right not to feel uncomfortable more important than women's right not to feel uncomfortable? You may think that it's ok for (you estimate) 1% of transwomen to go into women's changing rooms in order to make women uncomfortable(or worse). I don't agree.

Boom1234 · 05/06/2024 18:31

I think maybe we need to focus on how to prevent men sexually assaulting women in the first place rather than shunning a whole group of people who just would like to exist with the same rights as everyone else.

should we stop men from being anywhere women are because they’re more likely to assault women? Pubs, clubs, shops, restaurants, car parks, cinemas…

Exactly! Why is it deemed unacceptable and unkind to force some men into sharing facilities with men, but perfectly fine to force women to share facilities with men?

The fact is SOMEONE is going to be put out in this issue - why should it be half the population instead of the tiny minority who are actually causing the issue!

Who is being shunned? Saying you can't enter the womens rugby team because you're male isn't shunning.

And lots of people do focus on how to stop male violence. A lot of them state the important role single sex spaces play in that.

Proudofitbabe · 05/06/2024 18:54

Trans people are welcome to exist, they are just not welcome in the tiny number of spaces reserved for biological sex. It's really not that deep.

What some people are adovocating is not equal rights but special treatment that allows men to impose on the safety and dignity of women, while vilifying the women who don't want it.

Nobody is asking for segregation in wider public life, that's the point. Women-only spaces are VERY few. Why are some people so determined to let men into them?

I ask - should we just get everyone sharing everything? Cancel female toilets, rape crisis centres and changing rooms altogether? Make Jill Scott play against Harry Kane? Do people suddenly think sex-based distinctions were brought in for no reason?

While we're at it why not let adults go to school, or can poor confused Rachel Dolezal go back to head up the NAACP?

This lie that some men are women is akin to saying the earth is flat. Its a NONSENSE, and (going back to the OP) I don't want a Prime Minister too weak and useless to say so.

What? Kemi wasn't being accurate about legal women?
It's not very clear is it?

I was referring to your comment that trans women will be allowed in woman's spaces under the Conservatives They won’t. See my comment and article

It's hardly Badenoch's fault that the legal situation she inherited is stupidly complex and hard to explain to an average viewer. She didn't create the idea of legal women and biological women.

And it's inevitable that anyone trying to partially unwind the legal mess will be still be aiming for a somewhat muddled situation in the short term.

Better to vote for the people stepping back from gender madness than the ones ploughing further into it.

True. The GRA created this harmful mess

Yes they will.
Organisations will be able to bar them if they want to. Many don't.
Plus, they already can bar them if the want to
It's typical Tory hot air. As shown in the clip.

CassieMaddox · 05/06/2024 20:12

Anyway. It's not a burning issue for most voters. Not even mentioned last night for example.
