Hello Mum,

I'm on the telly!

Yes me! On the telly!

I've gone inside now Mum.

It's raining.

Yes I was going to say the same. Old enough to remember the world under Labour and it was so different, so positive! Education, education, education not austerity, austerity, austerity and mithering about there's no magic money tree and all that old shit. What a miserable bunch Tories are.

Labour has already said it'll keep to the Tories' spending plans. How are they going to make things better like that?

Also, improved NHS? Wes Streeting is fixing the NHS by getting staff to work overtime. Is that going to work too?

This isn't 1997. This isn't Blair's Labour. Things are going to struggle to improve.

How is sticking to the Tories' spending plan not more of the same? Plus working NHS workers to the point of exhaustion? I just can't see anything changing at all.

Let's see what the manifesto says though.

And of they are amazing that's what they are doing, well what does that say. It says to me they agree the Tories plan is right and that's why they are going to stick with it......but I thought they are amazing the Tories are bad for the country..so im confused why they would stick with the spending plan then 🤔

A journalist friend of mine claims Rishi has been forced to call a snap election because the King is not doing as well as we have been led to believe.

Make of that wal hat you will.

Oh yeah - if this is right, I'll be taking the next day off work so I can stay up all night watching the downfall.

If there is no downfall, I'll be using the next day to cheer myself up.

LOL of the country or? I think either way we are f'd.

LiesDoNotBecomeUs · 22/05/2024 19:30

It is great that there is an election - clearly we need change.

Sadly - there does not seem to be anyone to vote for.
I am not feeling the excitement.

Standingupstandingout · 22/05/2024 16:37

How do you arrange a postal vote. I think I'll be away.

If you're a Tory, I won't tell you.
If you're a sensible, rational person, the answer is.....

GingerPirate · 22/05/2024 19:35

Despite living here for 25 years, paying taxes, working, having "Indefinite leave guarantee" and all this crap, I still cannot vote in GE and I'm kinda relieved for it 😞

Charles is cavorting around in seemingly rude health. I find it hard to believe. And, what difference would it make?

BeverForget · 22/05/2024 19:43

Well, I am off to have a shit 80s burger.
That is how it ends.
Not with a bang, but with a Wimpy.

Doesnt matter who wins - all politicians are cunts.

I wouldn't have phrased it quite like this but i think you have a point. I, like many others am a fence sitter.

Tories, Jesus Christ....
Labour, OMFG....

On one hand if you were a party that was Gods gift to politics then you are inheriting difficulty and you have a small budget to enact change, is that really realistic so in that sense does it matter who gets in. Even the good people will be just tinkering about and trying to make it look good and amazing.

When both main parties are pretty crap, inept, wrong, incompetent, then also does it matter who gets in.

And these last 13 years of tories things have been so good for women and girls right?

I am all for Labour, but thinking hard about holding my nose and voting, Tory instead.

My child currently knows who a man/woman is. But as they grow up and form new teen friendships and read more of the news, I am concerned that what they know now will fade so fast.

OvalLemon · 22/05/2024 19:46

HoneyButterPopcorn · 22/05/2024 16:37

Looks like Labour will be in. I’m dreading what they will do for women’s rights.

Amongst other things… including completely destroying the education system and causing even more overcrowding in state schools.

And of course that is your choice and your right to do that it's democracy.but if you see the news you will know that harrasment of women and girls is high, domestic abuse is high sexual adult high cases.i don't want to play politics with these issues.but I really wonder over the last 13 years what has been done to make women and girls feel safe

Anyone here thinking of voting Green?

SayithowitisYorkie · 22/05/2024 19:53

Has anyone noticed how we’ve been told to stock on windup radios, tinned meals and water on the same day as Sunak announces election? He’s the only one who can save the country. Major scare mongering. How did we get to this point?

The only thing I can take from this is that the King might have only a short time left and they don't want an election campaign in the middle of his final days...? Seems a bit doom-laden to me. Journalists do talk rot sometimes, the King looks fairly okay judging from recent coverage.

Yes vote Tory so more criminals will be released, less rape convictions, more people like Wayne Couzens, so your DD wont be safe as she grows up & when she has a baby, she can give birth in a shitty under staffed hospital, with a high risk of problems to baby and mum.

Fantastic.

We are on holiday, I wasn't sure who to vote for anyway

Organise a postal vote!!

NetZeroZealot · 22/05/2024 19:53

No. Unless you’re in Brighton.

Greens just split the vote elsewhere. Look, you have to pick red or blue, and even if one side doesn’t align exactly to what you want and believe in you have to suck it up and vote for one of them.

It’s Labour or Tory. Choose one that is the least worst. Hold your nose if you have to.
