Has anyone noticed how we’ve been told to stock on windup radios, tinned meals and water on the same day as Sunak announces election? He’s the only one who can save the country. Major scare mongering. How did we get to this point?

Christ, have we gone back to 1943?

Labour has already said it'll keep to the Tories' spending plans. How are they going to make things better like that?

Also, improved NHS? Wes Streeting is fixing the NHS by getting staff to work overtime. Is that going to work too?

This isn't 1997. This isn't Blair's Labour. Things are going to struggle to improve.

Yes, all of this.

Are they sticking to the green pledge? No.
Changing bedroom tax? No
Third child policy? No
Reimplement SureStarts? No
Improve benefits for those with disabilities? No can do.
Insulating the NHS from privatisation? No way, says Streeting, more privatisation and making staff work even longer will fix everything.
Build more houses? Yes, they say. Where are all the trades coming from? 🤷they say.

But you can have all the same shit with a side plate of gender woo! Yay!!!

I said that when Tony Blair got elected. Things didn't get better

They did for me, as a woman and a single parent my life was pretty hellish under the Tories, one of their targets for blame and stigmatisation was single mums, it wasn't pleasant. Of course Labour were far from perfect, but then who is? but I stopped feeling personally attacked by the government. Mine and my child's life really improved. When I look at the levels of child poverty now, the crumbling schools, the crisis in mental health care, the fact that we now seem to accept food banks as the norm, the way that even if people could find a dentist there is no way they can afford the treatment they need, the sickening corruption, the endless lies, the mishandling of Covid, on and on it goes. I personally cannot take another five years of the Tories

No. Unless you’re in Brighton.

Greens just split the vote elsewhere. Look, you have to pick red or blue, and even if one side doesn’t align exactly to what you want and believe in you have to suck it up and vote for one of them.

It’s Labour or Tory. Choose one that is the least worst. Hold your nose if you have to.

Actually round here it's Tory or Libdem. Labour don't get a look in.

Sorry but after 14years of the Tories crippling us what do you expect them to do???

There’s only so much money! Tories have fucked this country in the arse for 14 years and now you’re whining because Labour have nothing to work with. There’s a reason for that.

Give Labour 5 years and you’ll be wondering what you were moaning about.

What new outcome are you expecting from the same policies?

I live in a city with a massive Green vote.

And the only marginal constituency that swings between Labour/Lib Dem.

Ill be voting Labour.

MagnetCarHair · 22/05/2024 20:04

What new outcome are you expecting from the same policies?

That the hundreds of thousands of children in this country currently living below the poverty line, some in abject poverty will be able to experience life where yes their parents may be on the breadline, but they can afford food.

The policies right now are conservative because KS is making sure he wins.

Once he’s in I know things can only get better.

Haven’t seen this.
Who is telling people to do this ?

EsmaCannonball · 22/05/2024 17:01

I'm quite surprised by this. They know they are going to lose so I was expecting they would hold off as long as possible. Are they hoping people who have just finished school or university will be off on holiday or travelling or that voters in general will be away from home or enjoying the sunshine and therefore won't vote? Can't quite get the reasoning behind it.

That will certainly be the case in Scotland as our schools break up at the end of June. Labour need to get Scottish seats if they are to gain an overall win

Roselilly36 · 22/05/2024 20:09

@SayithowitisYorkie my first thoughts exactly.

It is great that there is an election - clearly we need change.

Sadly - there does not seem to be anyone to vote for.
I am not feeling the excitement.

This indeed.

Papyrophile · 22/05/2024 20:12

From a very Tory constituency, I expect the Tories to succeed here again, but with a much decreased majority. Nationally, I think it will be a Labour government, but not by a landslide. I don't dislike Sir Keir, or Rachel Reeves, or Wes Streeting. Equally, I cannot muster any enthusiasm for any party right now. I fully expect to be the ageing Boomer with a pension who goes under the bus to fund everything else.

Where on Earth did you see that? Who said?

SaviourofSchoolUniform · 22/05/2024 20:13

The conservatives will still win...I'm not a Tory voter but I don't think Labour are good enough.

So you have a feeling that he might make policy changes that nobody has mentioned. Would you like to see that in a manifesto or is gut feel enough for you?

Look, they're 20 points ahead I'm unded no illusion that they will get in but then we'll have far more to fret about then than we've had for the last few years. The labour front bench a right bunch of hapless misfits

And the Tories are so competent aren’t they?

Cant wait for Angela Raynor to piss people like you off👌

You seem to like her, but you can't even spell her name! How much have you actually read about her if you still think it's spelt Raynor?

Inflation down? That's why I've just had beans and cheese for tea?!

RATE of inflation down; prices still increasing, just at a lower rate.

I'm getting the fizzy wine, crisps and chocolate fingers in for that night.

Good idea! I'm going to stay up, and gloat, I hope.

Looks like Labour will be in. I’m dreading what they will do for women’s rights.

Well the Tories don’t care about anyone’s rights so there we are.

It's also quite worrying that you want a politician in to piss someone off, rather than to try and improve our society.

RayonSunrise · 22/05/2024 20:22

@Silvers11 It was in the Times today - a paper read by lots of center-right, traditionally loyal Conservative voting types who've been annoyed at this government for some time.

venus7 · 22/05/2024 20:24

spuddy4 · 22/05/2024 17:02

Completely agree. In a way I hope Labour get in so the rest of the country can experience the consequences of a Labour government like we have in Wales for over 20 years.

We can remember it, thanks; flawed, but infinitely more human than this money grabbing, immoral, lying, cheating, callous, cynical, shambolic, lazy, incestuous fleapit. How are you voting, by the way.........?!
