Technically it’s about voting for the policies you agree with.
Who has the policies that will benefit individual people and the country as a whole.

I don't look at the colour of the party, I vote based on policies I resonate with the most.

Likewise.

There’s a new one in Liverpool, another 7/8 but I don’t know where they are.
@Kandalama Are these new hospitals that will provide additional beds to those already in existence or are they replacement hospitals, so no real increase in the number of beds and therefore not reducing the pressure on acute beds ?

This is for new hospitals or new buildings to extg hospitals.
No idea if there’s a policy to increase single room capacity in existing hospitals as that would inevitably decrease capacity overall. I haven’t seen revisions to extg hospitals

Dymaxion · 26/05/2024 22:42

Sorry @Kandalama don't think I phrased that very clearly, are the new hospitals actually replacements for existing hospitals, or are they additional to existing hospitals, so would be increasing the bed capacity in that area ?

Doesnt matter who wins - all politicians are cunts.

Of course it matters who wins. Look at the destruction that has been wreaked on the social infrastructure and culture of society in this country in the last 14 years. Of course it matters.

I don’t know much about replacements, nothing we are looking at involves knocking down existing provision to build new but that doesn’t mean it’s not happening.
I believe 7 extg hospitals were built with aerated concrete and need rebuilding though

Ours are new specialist buildings as extensions to existing and completly new hospitals.
I believe there are 11 completely new hospitals. That’s not extensions that’s completely new. Obviously we’re not doing all of them so I don’t know what stage they are all at.

chaosmaker · 26/05/2024 23:30

Looking at previous voting records of party/individual also should help with which one to vote for. If brand new then track record of party should be applied. Gutted I can't vote green any longer but they have banned the women's group at agm's over rights issues or silenced them on specific subjects so they no longer represent me.

Also what is said in manifesto pledges is not legally binding unfortunately.

Just to back this. Yes we too have new hospitals. Heartlands ACAD2 and they are building a number of large new additional blocks for other extra beds in our area.

I don’t know if we have the staff but there has been A LOT of money spent on infrastructure. To their credit.

But I’m still voting labour this time. The wider party has lost the plot. Hopefully labour continue investing also.

chaosmaker · 27/05/2024 08:37

Investing is fine and needed but they need to not do the finances of the bliar era. We're still paying that off for buildings that can no longer be used or have been demolished. Tax things that need taxing properly. Close down legal tax avoidance routes or better yet, rip up the tax laws and start again from scratch!

Getting rid of money would be good and you'd see how much the grossly overpaid actually do! A UBI would save a tonne of money as well instead of all the means testing etc.

Did anyone watch BBC Breakfast this morning?

They did a focus on Worthing & Shoreham as it's going to be a battleground seat.

There was a couple, heading off to their weekly food bank visit, and they were blessing Sunak saying they will be devastated if the Tories lost!!!!!

I was gobsmacked!!!!

the80sweregreat · 27/05/2024 12:48

Mc steamy
It's not surprising to me that people don't vote for the parties you might think are not really for them ! There are very many ' working class ' conservatives, more than you think. Many don't own a property or have that much money, but the conservative values align with their own views and they don't trust the Labour Party because of the 70s or their past leaders or their own parents voted for them or all manner of reasons. My own late in laws were the same and liked Mrs Thatcher as PM.
Wouldn't consider any other party standing and didn't even live in a conservative seat or have a great deal in terms of assets etc.
It's fascinating really , but some views are very entrenched.

It's rigged by our current voting system anyway.
