Thank god! I'm trying to run a nursing course and no one is making and decisions until they know about the election. In no other line of work can we just cancel all decisions for months apart from politicians. They seem to be able to!

I'm getting the fizzy wine, crisps and chocolate fingers in for that night.

there was some stockpiling for 3 day announcement /discussion of earlier by the deputy PM - my husband reckons some shit is going to go down and Rishi wants to get to his private island pronto- this is just musings and not fact in anyway

Because inflation has dropped and interest rates aren’t going to drop further.

So they think the drop in inflation is going to give them an election bounce😂

They'll be hoping that the "good" news re the economy recently (better than expected growth, lower inflation, etc) will give them a bit of a bounce. The sitting party will always call the election when it suits them best, or their opponent the least.

We have to face the fact that nobody is ever going to do anything for women's rights 😭

Start fighting the new government after the election.

I'm quite surprised by this. They know they are going to lose so I was expecting they would hold off as long as possible. Are they hoping people who have just finished school or university will be off on holiday or travelling or that voters in general will be away from home or enjoying the sunshine and therefore won't vote? Can't quite get the reasoning behind it.

Completely agree. In a way I hope Labour get in so the rest of the country can experience the consequences of a Labour government like we have in Wales for over 20 years.
