Have fallen worryingly in love with my iphone - anyone want to come and chat to me about theirs?

I'm a total techno-dinosaur, so perhaps that explains things. But I got a hand-me-up from DSS of his old iphone and - WOW. I'm loving it - so sleek, so easy, so fun, so delightful to use after my sticky-key'd NOKIA. So far, one of the best things has been having Skype on my phone. So what do you do with your iphone, and how else shoudl I use mine ?

ps and HOW do I write notes on calendar dates in teh future ie not today?

I am considering buying the following item to extend the battery life,

www.iworld.co.uk/p/MiLi_Power_Spring_2000_mAh_Case_and_Rechargeable_Battery_for_iPhone_4.htm#rev

The reviews are good but am debating whether or not I will actually need it? I have a charger for the car, and also home and travel chargers.

I will ponder a bit more and post further if and when I do decide!

AFEICA · 02/03/2011 08:42

As I am cheap economising I have found this one on ebay which I have ordered and will report back on when I have used it!

I can't believe noones mentioned www.tvcatchup.com - streams live TV (including CBeebies!) to your iphone. Its by far my most useful app, invaluable for wriggly uncooperative toddlers nappy changes. Its not an app but you can save the link as an icon so it works like one with one click. Genius.

Not that I use the iphone as a babysitter but my ds also likes the Chuggington app, all the ones by Duck Duck Moose (especially Itsy Bitsy Spider), Ladybird Baby Touch: Peekaboo, Peekaboo Wild & Barn, I Hear Ewe and Hatch. Great for train rides / queues etc.

My favourite apps are Scrabble, Countdown, Words with Friends, Emoji Free (for sending texts with pictures), Rightmove, Amazon, Ebay, Sky News, the MetOffice app (for much better weather forecasts than the installed app), Instagram and Histamatic for cool looking retro stylee photos, 8mm to make old fashioned looking films, and thetrainline and Train Search for train times, the latter great for telling you which platform a train is coming in on before the boards at the station tell you.

I LOVE my iphone.

Thank you, thank you 'twas nothing, really, thank you so much, thank you ...

Actually, the speech seems to have been the kiss of death for the thread - Worriermum strikes again...

Ah well at least I have the memories...and Nettie's fading bouquet. I can relive my glorious fifteen minutes again and again - just me and my Iphone...

Anyone else have that heart-sink feeling when they fall in Doodle Jump, like when you fall in a dream? Or is it just me?

raiseaneyebrow · 02/03/2011 22:59

Just me then. Blush

Teachermumof3 · 03/03/2011 20:40

Brilliant, thanks Pootles and Mrsgboring! I will go and have a search.

What did you do with your old iphones?!

Anonymousbird · 04/03/2011 09:31

Ok, so all this Angry Birds talk. I did load it onto my phone when i got it last year, but have never ventured near it. Don't know why, just haven't.

Was early at school yesterday so thought I'd give it a go. There are no instructions (none I can find!) and I have absolutely no idea of either the point of the game or what to do. Help??? I need something a bit more exciting than backgammon to while away the times I am waiting in the car!

Pootles2010 · 04/03/2011 10:00

Maybe ebay it Teachermum?

One thing about three - they don't have the greatest coverage, and apparently their customer service doesn't have the best reputation. Make sure when (if!) you buy one online, you do the little thing where they check your address on google maps to see what coverage you'll get. It said mine would be fine, and its ok, but shows as '3' at top of screen, which isn't great.

BiggestSchmoozer · 05/03/2011 09:06

Anonymousbird - the point of angry bird is to kill the little green pigs. The birds are in a sling shot which you pull back with your finger and aim by moving up or down then let go and they should fly across the screen and smash into the building the pigs are in. Different birds do different things. Some go faster if you tap them near the building, some drop bombs, some split into three - I think you can find this out on the help button.
Lots of people (DH) find it highly addictive, I like it but I can put it down!

BiggestSchmoozer · 05/03/2011 09:08

There's a good explanation about each type of bird here

kittya · 05/03/2011 20:29

After you have played all three sections, what is the point of those golden eggs? how do I get more games?

Does anyone play cut the rope?

MummaKitty · 13/03/2011 15:20

DS loves using my iPhone...great in queues, traffic jams etc. Just bought 'diggers' app for DS. Drag and drop jigsaw game. It was only 59p...bargain!

MummaKitty · 13/03/2011 15:20

itunes.apple.com/us/app/diggers/id424225883?mt=8&ls=1 here is a link if anyone is interested.
