You know the drill though, that one needs to be used up first lowers glasses to give (behave Chocolate!)

Some of us already have btech results, some have unconditionals, but it's a nervous time for most. Lots of Wine Gin Flowers

Janus DS just got one for his as well. It is a private one too so takes students from both Newcastle Uni (his firm) and Northumbria (his insurance). He started to over-think because the email mentions Northumbria first so now he is convinced that he hasn't made it into Newcastle.

Bring on the Wine and Gin

NoHaudinMaWheest · 15/08/2018 17:20

DD' s school doesn't open until 9.30. She says she doesn't want to look at track or any university email before she gets her results.
However she has forgotten her login password for school and so won't be able to look up emails once she is there.
I don't want to have to come home to find out and surely she will want to share her success or otherwise with her friends?

May be a head in the sands tactic I suppose.

EllenJanesthickerknickers · 15/08/2018 17:20

I'm a bit confused by the BTEC results being released tomorrow for some of you. DS2 had his certificate posted to him in July. Confused

EllenJanesthickerknickers · 15/08/2018 17:25

NoHaudin, DS1 was refreshing Track every 30 seconds from around 7am and got his place confirmed at about 7.30. We got to school at 8am knowing 2 out 3 results and just wanting to know what he got for physics! That was after the midnight disappointment of STEP missing a grade 1 by a few points. I'd guess that most of her friends will have already checked Track by 9.30.

bruffin · 15/08/2018 17:26

EllenJanes,
So did Dd but her ucas has not been updated

EllenJanesthickerknickers · 15/08/2018 17:29

Thanks bruffin. DS2 has already met the requirements for his HNC grin Y12 results so Track has shown his place as confirmed since Jan, so I didn't realise they made you wait until A level results day. Must just double check Track...

EllenJanesthickerknickers · 15/08/2018 17:29

*from not grin

DrPeppersPhD · 15/08/2018 17:45

Heads up for everyone, apparently the EdExcel grade boundaries have just been leaked. What you do with that information is up to you, but I thought it might be useful to know.

2gorgeousboys · 15/08/2018 17:50

Thank you @mmmz that's lovely of you to think of us and our DC. Good luck for next week!

I'm currently veering between being very calm and wanting to burst into tears. Off for a bath with a glass of wine I think.

Bakeandyarn · 15/08/2018 17:57

DS has just had an email from his firm wishing him good luck on results day. Almost enough to send us right over the edge!

raspberryrippleicecream · 15/08/2018 18:00

Lancaster Clearing Grades

Just gone up.

Hope you are feeling better Kitten

Lobster your DD seems to be keeping you in Mummy mode as long as possible!

FantasyAndHope · 15/08/2018 18:09

Sorry about that lobster
Dd decided to mark her mock results against the current grade boundaries and now she’s panicking
I’m hoping it’s like GCSEs where she looked on the student room and thought I’ve put the entirely wrong answers but in the end came out with top grades

FantasyAndHope · 15/08/2018 18:10

Dd has been looking at clearing and said the unis she’s looked at have kept their entry requirements the same as clearing grades

raspberryrippleicecream · 15/08/2018 18:16

I've also just looked at Liverpool. Dd's offer from there (which she didn't accept was AAB and is in clearing at BBC.

TheThirdOfHerName · 15/08/2018 18:21

DS has just had an email from his firm wishing him good luck on results day.

Perhaps they thought he might have forgotten that it's tomorrow? 😂

Bakeandyarn · 15/08/2018 18:24

third tomorrow, you mean it’s actually tomorrow 😂

raspberryrippleicecream · 15/08/2018 18:30

That's come round quick Third! Shock

adrinkofwater · 15/08/2018 18:39

So sorry to hear about your DD lobster!

Wishing everyone a peaceful night and good news tomorrow!

Strangely I'm feeling calmer than I have for a couple of weeks, but the nerves finally setting in for DD!

doistayordoigo · 15/08/2018 18:59

Wow, you lot move quick...got back from a couple of weeks in France on Monday night and have only just managed to catch up with the threads!

Wishing everyone good luck for tomorrow, hope all DC get the results they need or are hoping for.

derekthe1adyhamster · 15/08/2018 19:02

I am a bit confused. Exeter are publishing their clearing lists tomorrow for 2018. But DS is applying for 2019. Do the unis drop their grades tomorrow and will this penalise DS?
Ie will be still be expected to get the original grades even if his course is in clearing this year with lower grades

Blushah · 15/08/2018 19:11

Well, I'm hopping.

BTECs were legally allowed to be released today.

DS1 was in a class of 7, doing it. DS emailed his course tutor this morning, who said he'd email later. We heard nothing today so went for a drive at 3-ish, and DS couldn't get data. Got in at 5, email entitled 'Results'... and a message from one of the three who are uni- facing (all the same uni), saying he got DDD!! The email from the tutor said 'call me', which DS did- but the tutor won't tell DS his results. Apparently he's been told he can't now release the results til tomorrow. The 3rd uni candidate was told the same.

So one of them knows he's in uni, with a DDD scholarship of £1500, the other two have to now wait til tomorrow when the tutor will email them....

Don't bother, mate. Let's let the uni/ UCAS tell us.

Take home message: If you stray off the golden, palm strewn path of GCSE/A level/ Uni- which DS did by effing up Y1 sixth form and restarting- you're in a parallel universe where The Rules do not apply. 🙄

marmiteloversunite · 15/08/2018 19:16

Blushah I'm sorry that is a truly crap thing to do. Very unprofessional of the tutor! You poor DS must be super stressed now.

bruffin · 15/08/2018 19:17

Blushah,
Dont understand why they are only just getting btec results. DD knew hers by June, when she finished course.

cricketballs3 · 15/08/2018 19:18

EllenJanesthickerknickers the students on the old spec or not doing external assessments would have had their certificates through. The BTEC results day today are for those on the new spec who had external assessments in May/June.

Whereas UCAS used to show the old spec BTEC earlier than A Levels this has now changed so unless there was unconditional offers, all students now will not see their UCAS change until the morning

cricketballs3 · 15/08/2018 19:21

Blush your college/school must not have read the 'rules' correctly - BTEC external results and therefore the final grade for new spec were allowed to be issued to students today, whereas although schools have had the AS/A2 grades through today this is for admin only and students not allowed the results until tomorrow
