Not the end of the threads, just this chapter of life. We'll keep going, don't worry!

However! Not to be used until this one is done

Good luck to everyone who still has exams.

MsAwesomeDragon · 24/06/2018 21:15

These she's going to do computer science at Lancaster. It's a really lovely uni with a nice campus and a beautiful town/city just a bus ride away (although I was out off on the open day by the torrential rain, dd saw beyond that).

Raspberry you are absolutely right that she won't lose all the money. There are 3 tiers of scholarship as far as dd tells me, and she thinks she'll be on the middle tier rather than the top tier. And you are correct that it's a nice cheap place to live, with a nice easy journey home whenever she wants to come home or when we want to visit her.

Nettle alien abduction seems the most obvious answer. Fancy wanting to revise when the exams are finished. Dd is planning a ceremonial burning (I might persuade her to shred and recycle actually) of all her physics and chemistry notes.

Knittinganewme · 24/06/2018 21:17

He had to stop clearing up his notes once he'd filled the recycling bin, phase two will be after they've emptied it this week. There may even be a phase three in a fortnight.

Nettleskeins · 24/06/2018 21:34

there is a gradual thaw.
Ds went for another run today. Further.
The two brothers managed to sit through a football match together.
Dd has hoovered her bedroom floor. That's after three days of clearing so far.
We've organised a "casual" party for neighbours next week. I wanted to allocate the "gazebo" shed as the room into which all junk should be stored so that there would be no issues over pre party tidying, however it was decided that the "gazebo" should remain functionally idyllic/floaty. So ds2's room is going to be the junk room.

OhYouBadBadKitten · 24/06/2018 22:20

dd cleared her rucksack today. How she hasn't needed an osteopath appointment is anyone's guess. I didn't know paper could weigh so much.

Book return day at school tomorrow. Not a piece of paper has been moved since exams finished. Finding the books should be fun.

OhYouBadBadKitten · 24/06/2018 22:49

book return day for dd tomorrow as well, I hope she managed to round them all up! After tomorrow that's it. I can't believe it's done.

I wish the last day weren't an exam day.

Knittinganewme · 24/06/2018 23:00

There are no books to return, the only ones he has are the revision guides I bought. It is very different to when I was taking A levels, my locker room has been one of his classrooms for the last two years. They don't have lockers seeing as they have no books and no PE kit (it was compulsory in my day except for those taking FM and the others who could argue really well)

starfleet · 24/06/2018 23:06

Good Luck to all taking the Maths papers tomorrow.

Book return day for DS also. He has them stacked on his desk ready to go.Took 4 hours to clean up his room and move all his paperwork and files up to the loft yesterday. He isn't getting rid of anything just yet.

He is quite chirpy at the moment - didn't hate the nightclub he went to on Friday night and said he might go again. Worked both weekend days even staying late this afternoon when asked. He went off to pick his friend up to go to the pub when he was back from work. It's like having a different child to the one I've been used to over past 3/4 months!

raspberryrippleicecream · 24/06/2018 23:07

DD returned her history books last week, apparently I will get a cheque for £20 as a return of deposit!

That's a shame OYBBK. It is the same for the FM students at DD's school, Leaver's Assembly and Leaver's Dinner was last Friday!

DS2 has timetabled Y10 exams again this week, they are being run like Mock GCSEs with proper timetables, exam invigilators and exam rules. He is taking it very seriously, and DH is doing cooked breakfasts every day. I am enjoying how relaxing it is compared to DD's!

Maths and Music tomorrow!

marmiteloversunite · 25/06/2018 06:50

We have book return, leavers assembly and leavers dinner today. They are then going clubbing. DD is looking forward to it and even did some beautifying last night which is unheard of for her.

Good luck to all of those doing Further maths! We all made it through!!

PandaG · 25/06/2018 06:55

All the best for mathematicians and musicians today! Can't believe the day is finally here, the end is in sight! DS was most disgruntled that school tried to take his id lanyard from him on Friday, as he had another exam today. In fact, having moaned about having to wear the lanyard I think he will be quite sad to hand it in.

Today 25 years ago DH graduated from the college and university that DS is hoping to go to. Hoping he makes the grades, but if not his insurance is a good choice too...

All the best for all those who are not confident they have done enough, I really hope all our DC can relax and have fun for the next few weeks.

OhYouBadBadKitten · 25/06/2018 07:05

Well, that's the last cooked breakfast done. Will be sitting on the finishers bench at lunchtime. (well I won't, I'll be working, but tonight I will be)

Lining up the drinks for kitten for later.

Good luck everyone with exams

UrsulaPandress · 25/06/2018 07:28

Good luck

OhYouBadBadKitten · 25/06/2018 07:30

DD2 has just set off with DH for the final exam. Going via the supermarket to pick up bottle gift bags for the presentation by the FM group to their teachers.

A few tears will be shed I think.

MrSlant · 25/06/2018 08:17

So excited for the finishers. I've extended the bench pretty extensively and curved it round so we don't need to shout at each other to chat. Got the champers on ice (and a bottle of Schloer for me). Good luck everyone

Knittinganewme · 25/06/2018 08:25

They have a hammock in the Aldi booklet, I thought of the finisher's lounge when I saw it. Best wishes for all those with the end in sight now. I know it's a lot of "lasts" but if they'd never finished nursery then they wouldn't be here now, we need to finish this chapter before we can turn the page and start the next chapter.

We had a week of idleness and now have some structure to this one. I like this one better already ad it's only 8.30.

kaiserschmarrn · 25/06/2018 08:35

Good luck all. DS will be in school all day after this morning's paper, rehearsing with various ensembles for a big school concert tonight. It's going to be an emotional evening, seeing all the children we've watched blossom musically since Year 7.

We've got prizegiving, a kind of graduation ceremony, and leaver's ball (next Saturday) to come, then we're done.

GnomeDePlume · 25/06/2018 09:09

Good luck to everyone on the finishing straight

LoniceraJaponica · 25/06/2018 09:14

So, are we all having a virtual party tonight, or are there any more exams after today?

HesMyLobster · 25/06/2018 09:49

Good Luck for today! 🍀
See you all at the finishing party tonight! Grin

Knittinganewme · 25/06/2018 10:01

DowneyHouse is still going after today - last to finish, first to get results.

There is plenty of room in the finisher's lounge for those of you who are standing on the sidelines looking in. Yes, we've been together a long time but we're more than happy to see new faces. Come on in to offload your worries.

So am I safe to book a week's holiday in September or will I need that time to be running about looking at bedding? I might just wait until October and go with a friend somewhere that's close, warmish and cheap (Greece, Turkey). This follows from me looking at last minute deals and finding that I could be in Turkey right now in a self catered apartment for £170 for the week.

NoHaudinMaWheest · 25/06/2018 10:18

Dd set off this morning for last exam and last day at her school.
She has mixed feelings I think. Glad to be finished with exams but really sad to be leaving her school. She has only been there for 6th form but has really blossomed in that time.
It is her baptism anniversary today which we usually remember with a card, cake and lighting her candle.
She has come such a long way since she was a tiny baby and it has been pretty tough at times.
Now she is about to launch out on her own (hopefully) and I must admit I feel rather weepy.
