Not the end of the threads, just this chapter of life. We'll keep going, don't worry!

However! Not to be used until this one is done

Flowers NoHaudin

I'm trying to keep really focussed today.

Thanks.

MrSlant · 25/06/2018 10:49

Knitting my boss has asked me to work three weeks in October and I was ‘ October how on earth am I supposed to know what I’ll be doing then?’ Grin. Mind you all three of mine will be in different places then. Can I come on holiday with you instead?

PandaG · 25/06/2018 10:53

I've just hung school uniform on the line for the last time (DD just finished GCSEs but sixth form is non uniform). Quite emotional about that bizarrely!

DS just walked in, paper went OK, he is finished! He wasn't intending on coming hone before heading out to lunch with his mates, but he leant in some bird poo on the school field while waiting for his friends who get extra time...so he came home to wash and change!

Blostma · 25/06/2018 11:05

DD has just arrived home with some friends. They are going to drink champagne in the garden, and then go to the park. She is positively glowing, because a question she couldn't get right last night was in the paper, and she got it right this time. She is delighted.

Bloody hell it has been a long slog. So nice after 'everything' to see a smile on her lovely face. I've had a little weep, and will now hold my break till the 13th Aug.

Can we have cocktails on the finishers bench? I quite fancy a mojito, despite it only being 11am. I hope it is in the shade, because it is bloody hot here today!

Knittinganewme · 25/06/2018 11:13

MrSlant I'm fancying a two bedroom apartment with a kitchen (the fridge is important but I have no plans to actually cook) and balcony, pool, poolside bar that does meals and a short walk to shops for fruit, bread, butter, cheese and beverages. I have stopped in one of the places I saw that was cheap, cheap, cheap and it was lovely.

I had no idea that holidays could be so cheap, we've been constrained by term times and having to book work leave in advance so have never felt able to just go off at the last minute in case there wasn't anywhere to go off to.

I could go for a week in September with DS and another in October with friend for less than the price of a weekend at a local holiday village provided I could cope with the uncertainty.

This is really about planning something nice for me after DS goes away so that there is something on the other side of that transition.

HardwickWhite · 25/06/2018 11:48

DD is home and smiling for the first time after an exam. So good to finish on a high!

If DD gets her first choice uni, she'll be starting just a couple of days after her siblings go back to school - I haven't figured out logistics yet, but since I work term time, I've concluded it is going to be a nightmare, and put my head firmly in the sand.

Shuffle up on the bench. I'd like some shade and a mojito too.

Downeyhouse · 25/06/2018 11:53

Oh lord please don’t wait for me! I think you should all celebreate tonight.

We have exactly a week to go! Finally light at the end of the tunnel. Countdown duly downloaded to me phone :)

Ds is doing the European Bac and tomorrow has a compulsory English lit oral. Not his fave subject. Followed by philosophy (another compulsory subject and in his mind a useless one) on Thursday.

He has had to do 11 subjects this year and is sitting final Exams in 7.

The system is tough as you need to be an all rounder to get a high overall average.

He said to me last night «a teacher warned us in September the last year is brutal and they were right!»

Well done to all the finishers - enjoy your celebrations tonight.

OhYouBadBadKitten · 25/06/2018 13:38

dd last two exams went really well Grin so of course I had a cry because that's it now. School done and wow, all those years, happiness, pride, stress, worry and so very much love involved over the past years.
This time I'm crying for me and time that has passed. dh is Confused at me.

Anyway, she's off celebrating with friends. Goodness knows where. I hope she has a really lovely time.

I feel that I should be in a pub garden drinking cocktails right now!

And relax Gin

ShanghaiDiva · 25/06/2018 14:52

Kitten - great news about last 2 exams.
Downeyhouse - EBacc sounds worse than the IB!

UrsulaPandress · 25/06/2018 15:00

Yeah for the new finishers.

Boo for the EBacc - but so soon with your results.

Finally slept better last night. Had a small hiatus over the weekend as DD and her boyfriend of 2 1/2 years split up. So I now have mopey teenager to contend with.

Sigh

MrSlant · 25/06/2018 15:05

Oh I've got fizzy nose for you all!

Knitting you talk a great holiday.

Nettleskeins · 25/06/2018 16:51

Ursula it is often the way. They don't split up during exams because it is too mean.

Yay for the finishers, you must be just so delighted, and all admiration to those had to sit an exam in such hot weather.

I've dropped dd at" her make up and get ready" for the Prom. Her hair is in ringlets and we spent the morning in a panic (her not me) buying heeled shoes that were actually comfortable enough to wear under a very long dress, so long that she was tripping over...(be warned)

It is all a bit topsy turvey in this household. Ds1 is behaving terribly badly; this morning he had a breakdown over opening a bank account and screaming at us What is My Income? We assumed he was meant to put O but then it turned out you cannot put O...(we are dunderheads...of course banks want money in the account don;t they? Confused)As I was driving dd to her friend it occurred to me in passing, that oh Yes they meant the INCOME FROM STUDENT MAINTENANCE. Ds was at this stage in the I am not a Robot stage of the application and in a state of meltdown.

We'll start again with this tomorrow. I've found there is a bank literally on his campus. May be much easier than he imagines just to open a student account in August.

OhYouBadBadKitten · 25/06/2018 16:52

oh no Ursula, that's tough for your dd.

Can't wait to finish work today!

OP posts:
MsAwesomeDragon · 25/06/2018 17:40

Ursula that's tough for your dd. I'm sure she'll be fine in the long term, but that doesn't help short term does it? Lots of tlc and ice cream should help make her feel better.

Dd is finished now but I haven't seen or heard from her. I assume she's out celebrating with friends, and I know she's been home because her school bag is here. I am not quite certain where she is though.

TheThirdOfHerName · 25/06/2018 18:40

Well done to today's finishers.

Hang on in there, DowneyHouse

Thesearepearls · 25/06/2018 18:48

FINISHED!!!

DS has gone to the pub. Considering his last exam finished at 12.30, I do think he might be a bit tipsy when he gets home. Well deserved and well earned

Good luck to all who still have exams

DS is planning his summer now. He's going to learn to drive (bout time) and he's going to France and Croatia and China. Plus he's working for a month and mugging up whatever fresh hell the next stage of education is going to dish up.

NoHaudinMaWheest · 25/06/2018 18:52

Room for a not so little one on the finishers' bench?

FP3 was not so good was the consensus for their board but dd thinks she has probably scraped enough.
We had leavers' presentation and cream tea which was a nice relaxed event. It was lovely to see dd chatting and mixing with her friends .
She is going in tomorrow with cards and chocolates for the teachers and then that is it until results day.

littledrummergirl · 25/06/2018 19:06

Ds1 has gone off to a barbecue at a friends house this evening to celebrate. He didn't take alcohol as he isn't planning to drink but asked me to drive him and pick him up "just in case".

I'm not sure whether to be annoyed with him for using me as a taxi, or proud of him for his responsible attitude.

He spent yesterday helping dh to dismantle part of the brick fire surround in the living room and rip up the carpet. Their next job is to sand the floor ready for garnishing. Nothing like keep in them busy. Grin
Wine for me later please.

raspberryrippleicecream · 25/06/2018 19:28

Congratulations! I think we've all made it through now.

(Except Downey, still thinking of you!)

I've just waved DD off on her holiday, so feeling a bit wobbly about that now, but its much better then the A level Anxst!

raspberryrippleicecream · 25/06/2018 19:30

I also want to go on holiday with knitting

chocolateworshipper · 25/06/2018 19:38

Finisher drinks all round!

DD has had the first of her subjects externally moderated - so that's one Distinction* set in stone Grin

UrsulaPandress · 25/06/2018 19:38

We could have a thread holiday.

Knittinganewme · 25/06/2018 19:53

Mn meetup - Marmaris. We could identify ourselves by the colour of the umbrellas in our cocktails.
