DD2 had a GCSE exam today. I said to her this morning "text me when you get out of your exam." Kept checking my phone even though I was at work. Then I got a text that said "I'm out of my exam." Nothing else - just those exact words.

Hmm
Thesearepearls · 14/06/2018 19:05

DS is on some kind of healthy eating thing

Breakfast is always a pile of greek yoghurt, an apple and a banana chopped into the yoghurt, and a cup of tea.

I did offer him an egg on toast this morning but he looked slightly shocked and said he'd prefer yoghurt and apple and banana. Thank you very much

kids are another species sometimes :)

Kitten I gave up paying my voluntary NI contributions once I'd reached the full years for the maximum state pension. The result is that I now have a gap of seven years because my pension age has gone up seven years since then.

littledrummergirl · 14/06/2018 19:42

Glad physics was ok for everyone, I haven't seen ds1 yet to ask him how it went as he left for cadets before I got home. Hopefully it went well.
He has two more left next week.
Ds2 will be finished tomorrow! Grin Just the long wait for results then. I'm glad we're all here to hand hold.

NoHaudinMaWheest · 14/06/2018 20:34

Dd thought today's physics was better so she is slightly relieved.

Nothing now until Tuesday - three more to go.

Interesting how different people's breakfast habits are. I dare not change dd's regular breakfast before exams; she would be truly discombobulated.

likelyLilac · 14/06/2018 20:46

Dd seemed fine with the exam but the response on tsr seems to be skewed towards the negative.
DD hasn't slept well recently so is often up with enough time to make her own breakfast, i hfound her the other day having made eggs benedict for herself.

OhYouBadBadKitten · 14/06/2018 21:13

Eggs Benedict is very impressive!

I've just found out that dd isn't going in til lunch time as both her exams are in the afternoon. (at the same time...) so I don't need to make breakfast. I gave her money for lunch instead. I can lie in til 7:30 . Bliss :) but then had to squish my brain worrying she might get food poisoning Confused

That's something to keep an eye on then Knitting.

We try to stick to a normal, breakfast routine as well. The only difference is i’m Driving dc in rather than catching the bus. It gives dc extra time to do any last minute revision, plus the road has been closed near his school, so everyone is diverting around, making the residential road very busy.

Petalflowers · 14/06/2018 21:45

Also had a letter today saying his child benefit will end from September. Had one of those ‘everything is changing’ moments,

ifancyagreencard · 14/06/2018 21:46

We're nearly there . . . Rossetti & Modern Poetry tomorrow, then we are done. DD has gone through all the poems all day and feels she's done all she can. Fingers crossed for everyone tomorrow.

UrsulaPandress · 14/06/2018 21:49

Exams at the same time. Hmmm. How does that work?

doistayordoigo · 14/06/2018 22:00

We've had the child benefit letter too Sad

TheThirdOfHerName · 14/06/2018 22:00

DS2 had some of his GCSE exams scheduled for the same time. He sat one exam, had a 5-10 minute break (an invigilator offered to take him to the loo but he didn't need to go, so he just stayed in his seat) then he sat the second exam, slightly later than most candidates.

HesMyLobster · 14/06/2018 22:35

Which 2 is it for your DD tomorrow Kitten?
Is she doing an unusual amount of maths papers? I feel like you may have mentioned before but I can't remember!

DD has maths M1 tomorrow afternoon. I got home late expecting her to be in a tizz about it but she's remarkably calm - says she's done every past paper/ specimen question she can find and there's nothing left to do so she's spent the evening helping her sister with GCSE Physics instead.

She dislikes afternoon exams immensely though, feels like the whole day drags. She'd much prefer to get up and get it done.

raspberryrippleicecream · 14/06/2018 23:29

DD has M1 too and has more or less given up on it, she hates mechanics (and hated Physics too, which it reminds her of). However as she did FM AS last year she can apparently use the unit she did for that instead, meaning she isn't to stressed about tomorrow. She isn't too bothered if the AS goes down.

She also hates afternoon exams. All of hers are, except the very last one next week.

lashingsofgingerbeer · 14/06/2018 23:34

DD said, for the first time, she actually enjoyed her Geography exam!! Shock Is that even possible??! Maybe it was the cheese toastie with extra ketchup for lunch Wink

Day off exams tomorrow here - good luck everyone else for tomorrow's round.

Downeyhouse · 15/06/2018 06:24

Good luck to today’s candidates.

Ds rolled in at 12. Happy as Larry and looking like a new person. So good to see the pressure of the written exams off his shoulders.

But now he has to start preparing for his orals.

However he is planning some fun this weekend with 2 18th birthdays. First time out since early May and he has worked so hard (12+ hours a day) he deserves it.

Can’t wait for this to be over and he can relax and have fun for months to come.

Beginning to see the light at the end of the tunnel.

PostNotInHaste · 15/06/2018 06:41

Just popping in to say hi and wish you all strength on the last leg. I have a DD who is a year older and she did a year of BTEC rather than A levels but have seen many friends go through it and know how exhausting it is. DD is off to University of S. Wales in September so will see you on the first year of university threads if that’s ok.

Good luck ti those with exams today.

Icouldbeknitting · 15/06/2018 07:23

Good luck to all those sitting today, may all your mathematicians be happy ones.

Gretol · 15/06/2018 07:27

Good luck today everyone and have as chilled a weekend as you can!

UrsulaPandress · 15/06/2018 07:30

Romantic poetry today. Then a bit of light shopping, a trip to the farm to see Mr Self Harm then out for a friend's 18th Birthday meal.

Then head down for the final push with the Tudors.

Best of luck everyone.

Icouldbeknitting · 15/06/2018 07:32

Ursula How is the naughty boy? Do you have a countdown ticker for him returning home?

OhYouBadBadKitten · 15/06/2018 07:58

One pen in each hand Ursula Wink nah, it's just a timetable clash so it's one after the other. Each one is an hour and a half, so it's not too terrible.

It's DE and S3 Lobster. dd decided to take every maths option available to her at her college. I have no idea how she has managed to juggle this year. It's been crazy.

Post you will be more than welcome on our starting uni/next phase of life thread. Look out for 'Class of '18' . We might keep it in Further Education as we have people whose dc are doing all sorts of different and exciting things.
You are welcome to hang around here too of course Grin

dd is still fast asleep. And apart from my alarm accidentally going off at 4:20am I slept til 6:30. Thank goodness.

Good luck everyone for today, we made it to this point! and for those who have finished, enjoy your lovely relaxation and don't you dare abandon us

knitting Mid September is the official handback of the horse but if his owner can sort something sooner then he can move but we will continue to look after and pay for him until then. He is still shoeless behind so confined to barracks. It breaks my heart to see a horse stabled all summer but it really is his own fault. Once we can get shoes on him he can go on the walker and be grazed out in hand (fun fun fun) and hopefully ridden if he is sound so it won't be too bad.

How is your son holding up?

Icouldbeknitting · 15/06/2018 08:22

He's fine Ursula, I expect him to be fine through to Sunday evening at worst. It might all work out just fine, it might be a spectacular wreck. There's no point worrying about it because there's nothing I can do to change the outcome. I will spend all weekend being calm and serene if it kills me.
