ifancy that's it really "hardworked for knowledge got put down on paper"
glad all historians struggled through and survived with honour especially Fantasy's dd sounds like she was doing her absolute best. Fantasy if one paper has much lower marks, unis often use that as a indication that it was a blip compared to other papers' marks, so even if her overall grade is lower than she wants, ringing up on results day and pointing out discrepancy will help I think. Just so she doesn't give up and feel there is no hope.
These exams are really hard. There has been no AS to count towards the final grade only in the last two years. Universities are using a tariff that they set in the days when the exams were modular. Everyone is suffering the same disadvantage and I think that is why the grades that you actually need to get in with on results day are going to be lower than everyone thinks, and compared to grades needed in previous years. Also combined with expansion of places. [sorry if that doesn't make sense to statisticians, it is just that yes there are going to places filled with students who get a A and 2 Bs on certain courses, but there are also going to be students on the same course with 3Bs or 2Bs and C, because exams are not an exact science for judging ability and academic commitment in some instances - that was directed at the students who are worried they are only going to get Bs or get C instead of B for an important subject) TWO Years of work are being tested compared to one year previously, and that was just two years ago that the A levels were reformed, we don't know that many people who have experienced this new system.
Republic of Salo sounds interesting.
As does the Angevin Kings [who they???]
lobster I know what you mean about feeling at a loss. A friend who is an actress says that after a show you don't actually want to go home and collapse you want to do something else exciting to wind down. I'm not sure whether Physics counts in that category though. I daren't even look at the kids' physics revision. Chemistry seems to have gone pretty well, although unfortunately it was one of those papers that everyone said they liked..so, higher grade boundaries prob. I'm not getting "incomprehension" or "tears" over the physics [higher] but nor am I getting the zing that committed scientists might emit when revising
