It seems i'm the first. So this is me...

I'm 26 and have 3 girls aged 5, nearly 4 and nearly 1.

DH is in the navy and we are currently living on a married patch in redruth, cornwall. Though not for much longer. Due to the serious mining issues on the estate we are having to look for SSAFA (private rented in Redruth.

DH works on the Merlin's (helicopters) at culdrose and is an LAET.

Anybody else out there?

Mcdreamy sooo jealous of you in Cyprus

Been trying to get DH to get an overseas draft for years but only Singapore left for his branch and no chance of getting that before he retires!

Littlelapin, Dartmouth is lovely. DH was so chuffed to get Raleigh as his last draft - he loves shouting at all the baby sailors!!

jinxed · 15/06/2007 10:43

Currently an army wife, but soon not to be!

DH is being medically discharged on 5th August, and tbh, it couldnt come soon enough!

After all the hassle we have had, it will be nice to be a proper fmaily again!

DH has served in Kosovo (twice), Afghanistan and Iraq. He was sent to iraq 2 weeks before DD1 was born, sent home for the birth and back out again when she was a week old.

Worst days of my life.

Hi everyone,

DH is army and currently living in Bassingbourn, Herts. He is a training instructor for phase one recriuts.

DS is 20 months at the mo and thought it would be great that dh would be around for the first few years after ds was born. The reality being we have seen him less than ever before. Due to be posted in September and I can't wait. Not sure where too yet though!!!

TiggernPooh2 · 15/06/2007 14:13

Sorry, just reading the other messages. We were in Tidworth for a couple of years from 2000. Lived in Lahore Close, quite a way from any major civilisation but was nice.

Top tip, ring local leisure centres for things to do with kids or ask your local health visitor. I would go mad staying on camp all day!!!

manuka · 15/06/2007 16:01

Hats off to all of you lot! I used to go out with a navy bloke and it was AWFUL!! So glad we split up!!! You lot have it really tough and you all deserve medals.

jinxed · 15/06/2007 16:38

Anyone's DH's doing the Colchester military Festival tomorrow?!

Mainly army i think, but would be great to know if anyone else is going to be there!

Gatecrash Alert

My partner's not in the forces, (though I was born on an RAF base in Germany).

Just wanted to say what a good idea this topic is, and I hope it gets off the ground.

McDreamy · 15/06/2007 17:12

Where were you born, I was born in Germany too, Wegberg!

Desiderata · 15/06/2007 17:15

If you mean me, McDreamy (I'm the gatecrasher), I was born in Gutersloh.

Proud of it, too!

McDreamy · 15/06/2007 17:18

of course I meant you des, welcome. So were your parents in the forces for long? Were you a scaly brat? My dad left when I was about 3 so I can't remember much but I think DH and I will be living this life a bit longer and our children will remember it - fondly I hope

Desiderata · 15/06/2007 17:37

I left when I was three, too. I can remember very little about it, apart from the very snowy winter of 1967/8.

My Dad wasn't in the forces. He was a meteorologist (a civil servant) who was often posted to military bases. I've always been very proud of it, and consequently very appreciative of the military in general.

There was a thread on here recently that made me quite cross, but it was all made better by the creation of this new topic.

I hope that you and the girls scattered far and wide will get a lot of fun and comfort from this!

jinxed · 15/06/2007 17:38

McD - my DH was born in Wegberg too. His dad was army and he followed the path!

Eve34 · 15/06/2007 19:51
