It seems i'm the first. So this is me...

I'm 26 and have 3 girls aged 5, nearly 4 and nearly 1.

DH is in the navy and we are currently living on a married patch in redruth, cornwall. Though not for much longer. Due to the serious mining issues on the estate we are having to look for SSAFA (private rented in Redruth.

DH works on the Merlin's (helicopters) at culdrose and is an LAET.

Anybody else out there?

Hi everyone, I am new on here. Am an RAF wife. Lived in quarters for 8 years and just bought our own house (in hometown) and hubby commutes from RAF Marham. I am a scaly brat and was born in Munster as dad was in Army for 22 years, lived in quarters till 4 and then again when got married. I actually miss the forces life (never thought would say that), everyone was in the same boat.We have just moved from RAF Brize Norton and had to go back last week to drop hubby off as was off to Falklands for 4 months. Have 2 sons 3½ and 2 last week (bloody hard work) and they miss their daddy, bless. Bye for now, glad found this site. xx

Hi everyone,

I have just discovered this site, married in March and moved to qtrs near Tidworth in May. Absolute nightmare as they promised we could stay in the Aldershot area and then didn't bother finding us a house. We had to move or be homeless!!!I work full time in Havant and commute back to Tidworth every night 140 miles round trip. I am so sucked off. We are having a nightmare finding childcare as the nursery is booked up in Bulford till next year. Plus it's like living on the Chatsworth Estate. First kid that greeted us said "Hello you pair of F88king C8nts!" He was about 8 yrs old. Last week we found a 16 month old baby wandering around the Cul De Sac on his own at nine o clock at night. Coupled with the fact that the walls are like paper and we hear every constant argument next door!!!

The only plus side is that we can save money to hopefully buy our forever house. The problem is we keep spending on weekends away just to get out of there!!!!

Just to introduce myself to this thread - I'm another Navy wife. Currently living in Plymouth (was recently in Portsmouth for 5 weeks though!). I have 2 DS's - 3 and 14mnths. DH is on a submarine at the moment - any other submariners partners out there?

saltire · 16/08/2007 16:51

Hi Laura, I'm in Fareham, DH is RAF. Hate hate hate it here.
Welcome to mumsnet , I see you answered one fo my questions on another thread!

pipsqueeke · 16/08/2007 16:53

saltire · 16/08/2007 16:55

cali · 16/08/2007 17:18

Hi, another navy wife here!
been meaning to do this for ages, DH is in the navy and used to be on submarines until a few years ago. Moved back home to Scotland last year to own house after living in The Keep for several years. We have a DD aged 2 and no 2 will be arriving next week.
DH commutes weekly to portsmouth, cant say we like living apart but with his job moving around lots, it made sense to base ourselves back home.
Live just north of Edinburgh, where I work but making the most of being on ML at the moment.

tjacksonpfc · 16/08/2007 17:48

hi siddrsmum i am in bulford aswell where abouts are you we are behind the rmps opposite kiwi school. saltire hat is wrong with fareham i ahve a lot of family living there as dad was submariner based in portsmouth mum still lives in gosport.

Laura032004 · 16/08/2007 19:35

Thanks for the welcome saltire. I'm not entirely new to MN - just been away since April as it's taken months to get the internet reconnected!

Hi cali. How did you find things when your DH was away on a submarine?

cali · 16/08/2007 19:56

Hi Laura,
found it hard to begin with but we didn't have any kids then which made it easier for me as was able to arrange nights out, do things on the spur of the moment etc.
DH recently out somewhere hot and sunny and although we had regular contact incl phonecalls and emails, actually found it harder. Suppose when they go away on boats, you accept that you wont have any contact with them whilst they are away and you don't wait for the phone to ring and get upset when they haven't been able to get in touch.
Don't know how I would have found things if we'd had kids whilst he was still on boats,
hope things aren't too bad for you at the moment
