Cheese is my downfall

Lotster · 25/02/2010 18:35

Cheese thread, ace!

  1. Vignotte (damn you Lizzylou, I wanted to be the first!! )
  2. Blacksticks Blue (ditto Grimma!)
  3. Roquefort
  4. Mozzarella
  5. Cheddar

I have a fab recipe for Feta -
-Place on large piece of foil, and keeping it's block shape, make slices both ways to cube it. -Drizzle with olive oil, and place small pieces of rosemary in between the cubes and on top. (chopped tomato/sunblush/sundried tomato also optional)
-Season with black pepper then wrap tightly in the foil, and add another sheet so it's a firm little brick.

Toss on to barbecue or bake in the oven for 20mins or so - or to taste depending on how firm or sift you want it.

Tis heavenly

StirlingSmilesNever · 26/02/2010 16:50

Oooh Lotster - I want Feta now!

Bought a new cheese today (new to me, not necessarily new to anyone else) - It is in the Sainsbury's Taste The Difference range. It is Singletons parlick fell mature sheeps cheese - it is strong and salty. I might have to finish off the whole lot now

MathsMadMummy · 26/02/2010 16:56

Apparently I scoffed Camembert when I was 7 months old. Too strong for me now though!

brie
buffalo mozzerella (must be raw not melted!)
halloumi
feta
parmesan

That's not in order... couldn't possibly choose!

pushmepullyou · 26/02/2010 17:02

Dunsyre Blue
Inglewhite Goats
Lord of the Hundreds
Pecorino
Cheddar

5 is definitely not enough

TweedyneeCole · 26/02/2010 17:03

I am a bit of a cheese chav and like the lower class brands, sweeties

  1. Mature cheddar

Anything goaty, blue or vaguely posh sounding makes me want to vom.

TabithaTwitchet · 26/02/2010 17:05
  1. Mature farmhouse cheddar
  2. Oxford Blue
  3. Goat's cheese - like bucheron in a log, not soft

Boursin

Mozzarella

WildSeahorses · 26/02/2010 17:50

Best thing about Yarg is that it's pasteurised and so is safe in pregnancy - a lot of the fancier cheeses sadly aren't

sweetnitanitro · 26/02/2010 17:50

Cheddar
Halloumi
Le Roule
Brie
Mozzarella

Are we really only allowed five?

JackSpratt · 26/02/2010 17:51

MrsDinky · 26/02/2010 17:59

Oh, this isn't fair, I've given up cheese for Lent and am finding it hard enough as it is......

OK, here goes

Tunworth - very strong Brie type made in Hampshire
Sussex Charmer - texture of Cheddar, taste of Parmesan
Oxford Blue
Twineham Grange Hard Cheese - Parmesan type
Isle of Mull cheddar

MadameOvary · 26/02/2010 18:06

Brie and Grape on a bagel is my current favourite

Also: Smoked processed cheese (asda)

Smoked Sheep's cheese

Smoked Goats cheese

Manchego

mitfordsisters · 26/02/2010 18:09

So hard to choose only 5:

Parmesan
