STOP PRESS

Are men allowed to enter? My DP has just asked me to buy some things for him to bake a pudding?

MrsFish · 07/07/2007 09:37

I don't see why not

[whispers]its that competition aspect isn't it?

PossibleEntrant · 07/07/2007 09:37

Oh and he doesn't know that I will be photographing it yet....the comp isn't his motivating factor

MrsFish · 07/07/2007 09:38

Ah, that's me wrong then

PossibleEntrant · 07/07/2007 09:43

NOw where should I enter it?

Serious entries as it wil be a 'proper' pudding?
Comedy entries as it will probably be comical seeing him battle in hte kitchen
Kids entries as men are just big kids really aren't they?

MrsFish · 07/07/2007 09:46

What a dilemma

Slubberdegullion · 07/07/2007 10:07

Oh yes a secretly photographed male entrant would be excellent. Then if he wins you can print out a piccie of his virtual rosette, crown him MN Pudding champion and watch as he becomes most confused man in Britain.

Morning all, the chocolate mousse tasted, surprisingly, quite 'nice'.

I'm not sure what went wrong as it tasted really bitter but the chocolate was 85% cocoa solids. dh loves bitter everything and ds will eat anything under the guise of 'chocolate.'

Might try a cake next as can hide hideousness with decoration.....

btw my dh would love to enter. V. competitive and good cook. Maybe a men's category?

Tigi · 07/07/2007 10:51

Possibleentrant, does your dh want to put his torso in it too, sort of like a creative presentation? The WI would appreciate that (I'm sure i speak for all of us?)

Slubberdegullion · 07/07/2007 10:54

Only is it is an attractive torso mind, and lends to the aesthetic of the pudding.

muppetgirl...best check with the judge, 'tis purplemonkey this week

yes, but if you do a seperate entry for men, and only 1 enters, and it's really not up to MNWI standards, we may just have to award a second, rather than first prize, and then it's a repeat of that poor dear who was in the papers with tin marks on the top of the sponge?

Tigi · 07/07/2007 11:21

just had a look at pics - very high standard, again.. Think it may deter newbies?
MrsFish, does the placenta one make you want to go into labour?

Slubberdegullion · 07/07/2007 11:43

Tigi, I so did bloody hear that your not making a pudding. harumph. After all of that you're not going to pull your finger out and make one. Not even a crumble. I tell you Mrs, if there is not a picure up there by you or pretending to be you come sunday night you'll be on washing up duty for a month.

(I have reverted to old style threat parenting there...better go back and refresh in How to talk book....something about making a list I recall.............)

OP posts:
MrsFish · 07/07/2007 13:56

Tigi - no it didn't make me want to go into labour, but it did make me want to eat it

PossibleEntrant · 07/07/2007 14:47

What the cheesecake or are you gearing up to eat the placenta when the time comes

MrsFish · 07/07/2007 14:59

Eeeewwww! eating the placenta, what a thought

muppetgirl · 07/07/2007 15:26

...only vegetarian meat you know...

Tigi · 07/07/2007 19:24

You could keep it in the freezer and use it up in stews.. it is supposed to be very high in iron!

Tigi · 07/07/2007 19:26

Slubs I may have told a lie, or I may not have told a lie. My pudding may be up and posted or maybe not...
It would be nice to win this time [sigh emoticon]
may i clarify the deadline, I have a friend /children who may wish to enter..Is it midnight on Sunday?

OfficialMNWIJudge · 07/07/2007 20:37

Greeting all!

To clarify:

Judging will commence at 9am sharp. Results will be posted at 10am.

So technically you have until 9am Monday morning to get your entries in. If you are so inclined to stay up all night making puddings.

Men are welcome to enter. Points will not be altered due to penises. (unless they are in the picture. )

Also a couple of Judgely requests: (for any future entries)

a MINIMUM of 2 pictures are requested. From a couple of angles preferably. and a slice or dollup or whatever form it comes in too would be nice.

and if you could put on your entry what it is that would be good. Not a recipe per se but what the basic ingredients are. Just so I get the gist.

I think that's it for now.
Over and out.

LL, would a pudding not help dh get better, and also endear you to the inlaws? They may just wonder why you are taking photos of it prior to serving!!

Can the judging not be after 9 when we are back from school runs? A bit of an anticlimax if no-one there to hear the announcement! What about after lunch, as I have to go out ? Don't think me bossy tho!!!!
If i put Dh chest in my entry will i get more points? just wondered..

OfficialMNWIJudge · 07/07/2007 21:21

ok.

What time shall i do the judging?

I'm free ALL day.

answers on a postcard to....

Tigi · 07/07/2007 21:24

ooooo don't get stroppy, it was only a suggestion....
have a cuppa to calm yourself down!

SlightlyMadSalmon · 07/07/2007 21:37

Well I'm on a school trip all day tomorrow....so I don't really care what time....but if no-one owns up to being the winner within 10 mins of announcing it must be me [wikn]
