Mumsnet Village Show - An Afternoon Tea Tray for One

So here we are again.

So far the rules are:

Tea tray for one

Can include anything you want suitable for a summer high tea (sandwiches, scones, cake, biscuits etc) with suitable cutlery and crockery and the like. (Silver service if you are terribly posh)

Five quid budget (on top of what you already have in your larder).

SlightlyMadScientist is the judge (heaven help us...is she properly qualified???)

Oh and all entries will be anonymous this time (A, B, C etc).

Time limit is 9pm next sunday so we can be judged before bed time.

The rules will obviously be bent or completely ignored but so long as its tea ish then anything goes.

right..

Slubberdegullion · 03/07/2007 21:13

Califrau, your banner is most impressive. As is your 'jeans' quilt. My needle craft skills currently stretch to sewing buttons back on things so I'm happy to let you be 'MN Village show best in banner class' straight away.

However as the other skills of the MNWI are unknown to me (except Purple Monkey is a potter, and Peachy makes floats and Lapin and UCM make a damn fine rosette) then I maybe shouldn't assume that no one will want to compete with you on that one .

I'll put my votes in for bread, or chocolate cake.

TigiCupCakes · 03/07/2007 21:22

I don't have time to do bread, and I'm not bothered about chocolate cake. I have the school fete on Sunday.
cali, I too have looked at your jeans quilt, and it is very good, what an inventive idea!Could you make me one out of holey school trousers, or do you want them for yourself? I don't think we should have a sewing comp, as it appears an open and shut case to you. But you have reminded me that I have scouts badges to sew on.
Where is slubbers? has she got to warm the (tea) pot for us?

MrsFish · 03/07/2007 21:22

Bread - be it baps or rolls or loafs... could it even go so far as including pizza, as the base is bread It is a far wider category than chocolate cake, plus I have put enough weight on as it is the past couple of weeks

TigiCupCakes · 03/07/2007 21:24

my baps are very large.

TigiCupCakes · 03/07/2007 21:24

dh says so anyway

MrsFish · 03/07/2007 21:32

Lol - mine are quite large atm too, DH is going to be very disappointed when this lo is born and I lose my weight again

Slubberdegullion · 03/07/2007 21:35

Ahem (again), less tits talk please, so those ladies that are gathered here are we doing bread and all things breadish then? (Pizza is maybe a step too far imo).

OP posts:
TigiCupCakes · 03/07/2007 21:36

mine never did disapear after my baby! - He's five now. I long to be flat enough to wear strappy tops, but sadly it is not to be!
My only consolation at the moment is that it is too cold to wear a strappy top!
When are you due mrsfish?

Slubberdegullion · 03/07/2007 21:36

Tigi how long does bread take? I know there's that proving bit where you have to put it in the airing cupboard, but surely it's not an all day project (like the arvo tea was)?

OP posts:
TigiCupCakes · 03/07/2007 21:36

Did you get the tea sorted slubs? Been waiting ages for it!

Slubberdegullion · 03/07/2007 21:38

Yeah hang on........

OP posts:
TigiCupCakes · 03/07/2007 21:39

I did some bread at christmas, took ages and was rather flat!
To be honest I've not won anything yet and getting a bit depressed. And i can say without a shadow of a doubt that bread won't a bit of difference to my winning streak .

Slubberdegullion · 03/07/2007 21:40

tea. Milk and sugar down the other end of the table.

TigiCupCakes · 03/07/2007 21:41

TigiCupCakes · 03/07/2007 21:41

oooh er, thats a bit posh for tuesday wi night innit!

Slubberdegullion · 03/07/2007 21:42

Oh Tigs, but you were such a good cup cake judge. What is your special skill, and can we compete with it?

OP posts:
Slubberdegullion · 03/07/2007 21:42

Singing was beautiful, very rousing.

TigiCupCakes · 03/07/2007 21:47

Thank you for your kind remarks about my judging. I thought I did rather well too, but all I got was a load of grief. And it took ages to get my hair in a bun. Can't remember who the trouble maker was now. What am i good at? Beavers. I am a Beaver lady you know. I am good at reading with the children at school too.
I play netball and tap dance. But how can you judge that?
I could post a pic of my baps. I would surely win a prize for them! 'Ding Dong' as dh says!

MrsFish · 03/07/2007 21:49

Tigi - I'm due the 30th September

TigiCupCakes · 03/07/2007 21:52

oh lovely! Do you know what you are having? Two of my little boys are Sept birthdays. I'm very broody at the moment too!
