Mumsnet Village Show - An Afternoon Tea Tray for One

So here we are again.

So far the rules are:

Tea tray for one

Can include anything you want suitable for a summer high tea (sandwiches, scones, cake, biscuits etc) with suitable cutlery and crockery and the like. (Silver service if you are terribly posh)

Five quid budget (on top of what you already have in your larder).

SlightlyMadScientist is the judge (heaven help us...is she properly qualified???)

Oh and all entries will be anonymous this time (A, B, C etc).

Time limit is 9pm next sunday so we can be judged before bed time.

The rules will obviously be bent or completely ignored but so long as its tea ish then anything goes.

OK - I shall be publishing rules and guidance to marking system some time tomorrow (tax return allowing)....until then any comments/suggestions regarding rules should be made for due consideration.

Slubberdegullion · 26/06/2007 18:37

Well SMS is obviously madame judge here, but I'm all for a childrens tray too.

Oh I'm having a small warm moment at the thought of dd1 stood beside me making little scones, and iddy biddy sandwiches.

Go on SMS. perleese!

Oh and F&Z you're not gate crashing...any one can enter, makes it more edgy, especially if a MN Village Show virgin takes a rostee this time.

Slubberdegullion · 26/06/2007 18:38

Ah LL doen't that depend on where you're from?

I also say scone as in gone but it does vary.

Here they rarely have scones- amusingly after uyears in Somerset I only ever heard of Devon Buns when I moved here LOL! And they don't have mille feuille like we did at home, they have ice slice- which is heavier eggy pastrry filled with custard and iced, no layers or conserve.

A sad loss

Slubberdegullion · 26/06/2007 19:03

MrsFish...you better go and stand over there with LL.
