I have trouyble with my nerves and can only eat certain colour foods on certain days. My husband is getting fed up of this but I can't help myself. I want to show him I can cook decent meals even while sticking to the proper colour for the day. So what can I give him that goes with sweetcorn and smash, as today is a yellow day?

Ok, black foods from Nigella:
Hamine eggs (actually, I'd say they look more dark brown) - boiled in onions skins/tea
The rest isn't really black enough...

with synaesthesia days associated with colours are consistent...

would be quite interesting if music affected what you could have for dinner

Themildmanneredjanitor I would not be able to swallow it as I would still know what it was by the taste.

Zippitiptoes the blue Christmas was pretty awful, I thought I was going to starve until I found a pack of stilton at the back of the fridge.

um, pesto and jelly

zippitippitoes · 13/03/2007 19:44

jelly is just colouring though so that is cheating too

TrinityRhino · 13/03/2007 19:46

I'm quite surprised that you haven't all condemned this women to hell for being a troll. At last mn is chilling a little. Not usre if it isn't a joke yet but still...

Suggestions for white days:
cod in white sauce
poached chicken breasts and bread sauce
glass of chilled white wine

pollychrome · 13/03/2007 19:46

Yes but I have not tampered with it zippitiptoes so it counts as being a proper red food. We dont eat the pesto and the jelly at the same time, that would be stupid.

zippitippitoes · 13/03/2007 19:49

now my synaesthetic day colours do stay the same but some are colour combos so saturday is red and black so I think that could be really dramatic and tasty

Hathor · 13/03/2007 19:49

Oh sorry,
quorn in white sauce
meringues with vanilla cream

mrsjohnsim · 13/03/2007 19:49

and why aren't you monochrome?

pollychrome · 13/03/2007 19:49

McDreamy no I have thought about writing a book like that myself. So I guess the author is like me?

gosh i love that book I bought it for my dd2 for christmas and wanted to keep it..apparently they had it cheap in sainsburys but I don't go inthere

BizzyDint · 13/03/2007 19:51

do you ever get days that are more of a hue? so more of a sea green than say a jade green? or more a fushcia pink than than a baby pink? or is your case not that severe?

pollychrome · 13/03/2007 19:51

Zippitiptoes I wish I could have two colours in one day but unfortunately the same colour lasts the whole day until I wake up the next morning. Red and black would be a lot better although red is an easy day usually anyway.

McDreamy · 13/03/2007 19:52

NOt suer thought she had just chosen a different way to present her book but maybe. here

pollychrome · 13/03/2007 19:52

BizzyDint no I am fairly free and easy, it could get awfully tricky if you were too uptight about these things I think.
