Can only eat certain colour foods on certain days. What goes with sweetcorn and smash

I have trouyble with my nerves and can only eat certain colour foods on certain days. My husband is getting fed up of this but I can't help myself. I want to show him I can cook decent meals even while sticking to the proper colour for the day. So what can I give him that goes with sweetcorn and smash, as today is a yellow day?

yes i think if you ever woke up to find yourself facing a blue day..or heaven help you a purple day, then food colouring would be the only way to go.

Purple is not so bad as you can do a lot with Fruit. Black is the worst and often happens on days when mother in law is coming round.

If you are really concerned, I think you could benefit from some cognitive behavioral therapy.

If you are cod or greeny on the wind - lol!

Blackberries, aubergines, squid-ink pasta, and Guinness should do the trick.

black-eyed beans with the white bits cut off?

Hathor · 13/03/2007 19:37

What do you have on green days?
Wouldn't work for many small children.

pollychrome · 13/03/2007 19:38

Oh that is really wonderful themildmanneredjanitor. I have never seen anything like that before. Do they do other colours as green is a struggle for me. The black suggestions are mostly no good as I cant eat seafood but will give me something other than lickorice allsorts for next time mum in law comes over.

have you decided what you're having tonight then? must be difficult to menu plan when you don't know what colour the day will be.

pollychrome · 13/03/2007 19:39

Themildmanneredjanitor I would not be able to do that because it would not be right to eat red food on a yellow day.

Nigell has a section in "Feast' on Funeral food with lots of black things in - will go & see what I can find...

zippitippitoes · 13/03/2007 19:39

actually I think a black day would be pretty good there is wild rice as well, fungi

blue would be worst..aparently we are programmed to distrust blue..I guess it doesn't naturally occur as edible food stuff at all..maybe some crystalised flowers like gentians

My friend had that< hunker, she used to see colours when she had an orgasm..very entertaining

pollychrome · 13/03/2007 19:40

I can often guess as I say Wednesdays are usually red and Fridays and Tuesdays are often yellow. But sometimes I have it all planned out and I wake up and it is a white day or, worse, green, and then it is a nuisance and no mistakle.
