I've ordered a spiralizer which is coming today apparently (though need to go out and just bet I'm out when they try to deliver it!!) - quite excited.

Doing well this week. Have been for a run Saturday, Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday so far! I don't normally do consecutive days but have felt really up for exercise.

Food today:
B: slice of homemade bread and almond butter
L: cod in a tomato, leek and mushroom sauce
D: not sure yet - off to do the shopping in a bit. Will have a look back over what you've all been eating and be inspired!

I lost you! Marking place now, for an Eatingbetterer summer!

Last night DD1 and I had potato and smoked mackerel salad with loads of lettuce and a horseradish dressing, which is one of my favourite summer recipes. DH is cooking chicken curry and dal tonight. Tomorrow is my 40th birthday party so expect it all to go out of the window with far too much wine! But the snacks we've got are fairly healthy in any case....

OOh Happy Birthday Bramshott!

I've been up for exercise this week too Holmes and all good food wise today. Had pizza last night but didn't enjoy it really. Freezer is full of cooked lentils and fish so up for a healthy weekend.

Quick question for you? Is it full fat Total you all have? It's pricey! I bought some lovely Rachels raspberry this week. Lush!

Neeko · 18/07/2014 22:33

Hi shortaris. I usually have aldi or lidl's full fat own brand, but I bought Rachel's for a change and it's really nice.

The wanderer returns. Blush

It's been a long time since I checked in but I have been keeping the eating better side up. Running out of ideas and need a boost though so going to keep up with the thread this time.

Belated Happy Birthday, Bramshott! I'm doing ok on the food and exercise front but am still in the throes of my unidentified allergic reaction. Raised itchy blotches everywhere and swelling eyes and mouth. I am a slave to the Piriton, which makes me a bit dozy...

Neeko · 19/07/2014 18:56

Holmes have you tried E45 anti itch cream? (You can get the 500ml tub on prescription). I had something similar a couple of years ago and this saved both my skin and my sanity. The doc also prescribed stronger antihistamines at night to let me sleep.

I think this is a fantastic way of life. I had a bit of a lightbulb moment on holidat lately. I had always been a bit weight-obsessed and then suddenty lost a lot of weight a couple of years ago through v stressful job and literally having no time to eat, I then continued to eat very little and very much controlled my intake (never ate until after lunch etc). We went to Greece recently on a full board holiday and I ate 3 times a day - lots of lovely fresh food, meat, fish, salads, vegetables. I realised I ate very little bread and just lots of fresh stuff. Much to my surprise, I didn't put on weight.
Since then I've eaten far better, I've cut out all processed stuff, including white bread, pasta, cereal, I eat loads of berries, greek yogurt, salads, fish etc and I feel brilliant and much less bloated. I also feel much fuller and more satisfied. We have organic full fat milk, butter and full fat greek yogurt and it's just such a great way of eating. I can't believe I wasted so much time on low fat rubbish for so long! This thread is fab and I'm getting lots of ideas for recipes. I did the cod and chorizo this week and it was amazing!

Coumarin! Welcome back ! How are you?

Holmes Flowers - you poor thing, does you GP have any ideas? Sounds very strange.

Cashmere - welcome Smile - your holiday experience sounds like the Eating Better philosophy in action - relaxation and quality food combined = healthy, happy body and mind Smile.

There's an Egg Fast thread in Active convos Confused - now as I've previously said, I love eggs, but virtually nothing but eggs for 3-5 days Shock - euww. I am trying to keep an open mind and watching with interest to see how they all get on!

Thanks for the sympathy, Sleep! Haven't bothered going to the gp this time. Last time she and the specialist basically said 'It could be anything. A random allergy or a random auto-immune malfunction. It's quite common. Keep taking the Piriton and it will eventually go away'. Hmph.

Cashmere - liking the sound of your holiday!

Holmes my brother had food allergies (dairy, sugar, wheat, tomato, potato, and he's veggie!). He used to come up very bumpy and a swollen throat. Wearing clothes was painful and he couldn't wear shoes- this was as an adult. He's much better now with alcohol only remaining remedy. Anyway my point is that he could only take one sort of anti- histamine as he was allergic to most. I think he took zirtac? I can't piriton - I am likely to wander inter the road if I do!!! I hope it abates soon.

Thanks Sleep Smile I'm doing well. Sticking to eating get healthily and really feeling the benefits. Can't thank you all enough for keeping the threads going and all the tips and ideas. Working in my overall fitness now as I realised last week I've really let it slip. Falling into the trap of thinking, because I'm slim I don't need to exercise Blush want to get toned and strong so starting running, yoga and going to give the Jillian M DVDs a go.

Hope you're all doing well.
