Well my typos were great!! Alcohol is bro's only remaining allergy not remedy. Freudian slurp anyone?? Grin

Cantdothisagain · 22/07/2014 12:08

Love the alcohol remedy!

Holmes, I hope you are recovering somewhat.

Coumarin, snap - I am normal BMI and slim but am flabby and don't do proper sport or exercise - I do wonder if I should.

Spiralizer has been going well here - heartily recommended (though of course it could be described as just another piece of kitchen gadgetry that you can do without with good knife skills!). If I pop up claiming to need a Nutribullet, tell me off (but don't they look fab...!).

Eating lots of avocados and salmon here - and treats too. And my daughter is right into cauli mash so eating that lots too.

Sleepwhenidie · 22/07/2014 12:22

Grin at your typo still, so funny. Is it bad that I didn't think alcohol as a remedy was weird? Shock Smile

cantdo if you are thinking of exercising then I'd really recommend trying strength training, amazing benefits.

fuzzpig · 22/07/2014 12:28

OK, "Freudian Slurps" just HAS to be incorporated into the title somehow for thread #4. :o

BaldHedgehog · 22/07/2014 15:39

Hello ladies and sorry to gatecrash your thread. I just saw somebody mentioned cod & chorizo is there any chance one of you could point me in direction of the recipe? Many thanks :)

actually I could do with eating better but with toddler, bf newborn and fussy DH there's no time/chance to change the eating habits?

BaldHedgehog · 22/07/2014 15:40

Oh dear. Strike out fail!

shortaris1 · 22/07/2014 23:09

I'd love an alcohol remedy ladies!

Day off today and day off my clean eating too. Brekkie with mum and dad then afternoon tea out with a friend. Lovely. Back to it tomorrow.

You know when you're eating well and working out and it doesn't really seem to be doing anything? Well today it just clicked and I definitely look slimmer and feel great. Loving the food too.

What does clean eating mean? It's not that I want to bandy about trendy labels- just wondering for a short cut. I'm off to secret garden party. It's a bit full on and my ds has a gig on Friday and a radio show on the Sunday. Topping and tailing is hard work when you are so young and likely to lose your voice. This means I will need to try to get him to bed and eating well. So my aim is to eat well all festival with the addition of porridge (the instant stuff) and the odd
beer. Wish me luck- I shall report back

Hi still, 'clean eating' is bandied about as a term but I think means different things to different people...at it's most basic, unprocessed food and no sugar but for some it will encompass no dairy, no grains....I don't like it, it implies that if you aren't eating 'clean' then you must be doing the opposite. A bit holier than thou perhaps? SGP sounds fun! Is your DS famous c'mon, spill Grin

Hi Proseccoco Smile

I have a new recipe book I am drooling over - 'Ceviche', Peruvian food. Ceviche de mango anyone? Ripe mangoes, red onion and lime juice, chilli and coriander....looks so good! Not all the recipes are as 'clean' Wink, pasta, pastry, rice and potatoes put in appearances, but there are some great looking recipes that use quinoa, plantains, tamales, some new things for me. I am also considering for our BBQ tonight the tiradito de coliflor, cauliflower salad made with blanched florets, sliced thinly in a dressing made with Parmesan, soy sauce, olive oil, white wine vinegar, lime and garlic.

Coumarin · 24/07/2014 12:34

I went to a night class about herbal medicine once. The woman leading it swore she would never get cancer because she ate 'clean'. She was very adamant about it. Pretty insulting to everyone who's had cancer or lost someone to it. I never went again.

I prefer our 'eating better' or 'healthier' to 'clean'.

Coumarin · 24/07/2014 12:35

Your BBQ sounds amazing Sleep I want to come over! Grin

Cantdothisagain · 24/07/2014 12:38

Mmm I don't like the clean eating label either - it sounds smug and condemning of other ways of eating. And different ways of eating suit different people - also at different times of our lives we need different types of food. Sometimes clean eating is just another barometer to measure ourselves against as failing, when really food shouldn't be the equivalent of a test.

Off to investigate the Peruvian book!

Cantdothisagain · 24/07/2014 12:38

As an aside, need to use up a mango and a papaya. Any suggestions? Smoothie- if so what else should I add?

Sleepwhenidie · 24/07/2014 12:42

Wonder if the mango ceviche would work as mango and papaya ceviche? Or purée with banana to bulk up and make ice lollies?...disclaimer, I have no idea if that would work Grin!

Bramshott · 24/07/2014 12:42

I was impressed with myself yesterday making lollies for the kids out of only redcurrant puree, sugar and yoghurt. I was using up redcurrants before we go on holiday. Any chance something like that would work for the mango & papaya if it was pureed? You might not even have to add sugar if they are naturally very sweet.

Coumarin · 24/07/2014 12:46

Mango and banana go very well together. You could blend them all together and make lollies as suggested. The banana would sweeten them if the papaya isn't sweet enough.

I might make a banana, mango and spinach smoothie in a minute if I can move in this heat.

AmericasTorturedBrow · 24/07/2014 12:47

Fell off the thread last time and just got back from 6wks in the UK, 8lbs (wasaaaaaaaaa) heavier and spent all that time eating pretty much constantly and badly.

Time to get back on the rails!

Sleepwhenidie · 24/07/2014 12:56

Americas! Grin, welcome back, I wondered where you'd got to! Have to LOL at you gaining 8lbs coming from US to UK-usually that happens the other way round! Not to worry, you'll be back on track now I'm sure Smile

shortaris1 · 24/07/2014 18:11

Oops didn't mean to offend with the clean thing. Just meaning cleaner than the carp I usually ate!!! Anyway none of that tonight. Been demoted, hot and teary so pasta, cider and chocolate for me!!!

AmericasTorturedBrow · 24/07/2014 18:13

Thanks sleep....have enjoyed catching up on the thread particularly the hilarious autocorrect fails!

I was 133lbs (not that we're weighing!) before I left but I had just completed a 545mile bike ride, had a dry month, mainly on a vegan diet - was feeling so good! Then home for 6weeks, look so flabby now, stupid lovely yummy British food!

Had a boiled egg and coffee for breakfast, good start Wink

Coumarin · 24/07/2014 20:07

Short Not offended! Smile Just saying why I prefer to avoid calling it that. The eat clean folk wouldn't approve of my occasional Divine chocolate eating and shop bought muesli anyway.

Coumarin · 24/07/2014 20:10

Just read properly Short Sorry you've had a shit day. Your comfort food sounds like a good plan to me. Hope things seem brighter tomorrow Thanks

Neeko · 24/07/2014 20:18

Sorry to hear that short. Hope you are ok.
