I've made a couple recently that I want to show off to people... We could all go 'ooooh' at each other's efforts!

Electryone, I coloured the regalice 'flesh' using, IIRC, the paste colour called Paprika. Then I used several different shades of powder colour (probably grey, white, yellow, mauve, but I don't remember exactly) and soft dry brushes, just like applying powder rouge, building it up very gradually.

The 'bone' is a piece of marzipan, and the 'bone marrow' and 'muscle' are pieces of freeze-dried strawberry.

Apple pie with a sheet of marzipan instead of a top crust.

These are incredible. I'm not a great baker but I'm now inspired to get better!

Cool, thanks for that atmytime, Ive never used powder colours before, just the pastes, are they easily available? You must be really proud of it!

I love the foot! (but don't think I'd want to eat it!)

This was my DD's 4th Mr Men birthday cake last year.

Love the scary owl cakes. They're all fabulous, you're all very clever. My kids don't like fondant icing so mine are all very simple really. The most I decorate with is fresh cream or watered down icing sugar.

I think my nephews prefer the icing! They love the fondant.

Oh I love them all. You are all amazing bakers. Marzipan and apple pie. Zombie foot. And I'm afraid I snorted at the head incident.

And thanks for the advice about the colouring in cake. For St Andrew's day I tried to do a hidden saltire and, it seemed like I channeled by inner Lord Percy, twas a cake of purist green in the end. So I just got every pissed and then cut it. I've been using the gel colours and failing miserably. I shall get myself onto powdered colours and see what fun I can have next.

And yes please to any recipe if anyone is offering. I got a kitchen aid for my birthday 18 months ago and it has become my mission to learn to bake.

The ideas! The colours! The shapes! I love the way we interpret things differently. And each and every one is a delight!

I never photograph my 'everyday' cakes and puddings (I only took a pic of the marzipan apple pie to help me remember to make it again, as there was no recipe) but I can see that I'm going to have to start doing so.

TeaMakesItAllPossible · 16/03/2014 16:45

I Pinterest every new bake just because it feels like such an adventure at the moment. It's lovely to look back on and is great to keep a record of what worked and what was awful.

Omg! What is pic 4 op?
It looks amazing!

Anyone know how I could make a dragon cake?
Ideally from how to train your dragon!
