I don't plan a specific meal for each day unless there's a particular reason to (guests, busy evening, etc); I just write a list of meals for the week and decide which one I'm doing on the day/day before.

This week will involve:
home made pizzas
Cajun salmon
jacket potatoes
rack of lamb
tuna bake
Quorn meatballs & spaghetti

  • all with veg, and rice/couscous/potatoes etc if needed

Please share your plan ......

I plan 4-5 days ahead - have to shop on foot and can't carry too much.

This week we have:

chicken and vegetable pie with mash and peas

jacket potatoes with tuna (me) or cheese (DD, DH) with salad and appley coleslaw.

Vegetable chilli in tortilla wraps with avocado and corn on the cob - DD's portion of chilli to be removed before DH starts flinging in the scotch bonnet chillies! (nearly forgot last time we had it Blush)

mushroom and pea risotto

DH working late one night - poached egg and green beans with toast fingers (DD), pizza and salad when DH eventually gets in (adults)

McTroll - dry your eyes!

my "veggie" and "fish nights" can be translated as "beans on toast" and "fish fingers" when I'm pushed. Just happens to be a good week this week!! Not always so on top of it.

knottyhair · 07/02/2011 16:57

Like TabithaTwitchet, I shop on foot so only do a few days at a time. Tonight we've got prawn curry and rice (DS has kick-boxing so he's having chicken hoisin wraps now with leftover chicken from the weekend). Tomorrow is a healthy version of fish & chips with homemade tartare sauce, and Weds is duck stir-fry with noodles. That's as far as I've got as we get our organic boxes on Weds night and the contents tend to dictate what we eat for the next few days!

tyzer2001 · 07/02/2011 22:56

Tonight was meatballs and pasta.

Tomorrow - chicken casserole with rice.

Weds - Gammon steaks and chips

Thurs - Slow-cooked minted lamb, mash and peas

Fri - Chicken and bacon pasta bake.

I don't plan meals for weekends as we are rarely all here at the same time.

Currently on the fridge is a meal plan for the next FOUR weeks!

Monday: Mum's night off: eat at gym or McDonalds. YAY!!! I love Mondays.
Tuesday: roast wild salmon marinated in soy sauce, five spice and honey served with noodles (with lots of spring onions, courgette strips, red peppers and sweetcorn cooked in with them)
Wednesday: chicken or bean fajitas with guacamole, tomato salsa and sour cream.
Thursday: roast chicken, roast potatoes/parsnips, bread sauce, gravy, ratatouille and cauliflower cheese (I am veggie so eat the cauli cheese), rhubarb crumble.
Friday: Home made veg curry, dahl and saffron rice.
Saturday: Buffalo burgers and trimmings
Sunday: haven't thought yet - may buy something in the market tomorrow. May try to convince someone else to cook.

lou33 · 25/02/2011 22:26

franch, funnily enough i actually found a katsu curry kit in morrisons! It comes with the rice and the sauce and the panko breadcrumbs, so all you need to do is coat the chicken with the crumbs, cook the sticky rice and heat the sauce

my kids love going to wagamamas for their chicken katsu, and this tasted just as good

one box served my 4 kids

Anonymousbird · 26/02/2011 12:22

lightbulbs - I love the sound of buffalo burgers - is it special meat, or is there a special trick/ingredient to those??

lou33 · 26/02/2011 19:50

Today is sausage casserole followed by creme brulee
Tomorrow is leg of lamb roast

Not sure from then on

namestaken · 27/02/2011 18:40

Cod with lemon and bay leaves with cous cous and veg

Chicken with peppers and sour cream with rice or cauliflower for the rice phobes!

Butternut squash and chickpea curry with spinach

Ginger salmon with chinese vegetables and noodles

Macaroni cheese with caulflower and brocolli

Dont plan for fridays...will probably be steak or mussels and crusty bread, plus the inevitable vat of wine!

TeaOneSugar · 27/02/2011 21:16

I'm the only veggie in the family, so our weekly plan is always a mix of veggie days and days with a veggie choice and a meat/fish choice, usually with matching accompaniments

Tuesday Chicken & Mushroom Pie, Mash & Veg (Quorn Fillet)
Wednesday Spinach & Cottage Cheese Cannelloni
Thursday Tuna Pasta Bake (Quorn Bolognese Bake)
Friday Not sure yet
