The type that doesn't sound great in its synopsis but turned out to be brilliantly entertaining, moving, hysterical. It's probably British. Definitely understated.

I'll offer Marvellous with Toby Jones

Dog Soldiers' if you're into a bit of sci-fi / horror

DuzzyFuck · 10/11/2020 21:33

Not British, but The Fundamentals Of Caring on Netflix is wonderful. And it stars Paul Rudd, so been better.

DuzzyFuck · 10/11/2020 21:34

*EVEN better! Hmm

"The Way Way Back" with Toni Collette and Sam Rockwell. It's lovely.

Juliet, Naked. British film with pure quirkiness at its core. Appeared on Netflix a few weeks ago, was a shame I hadn't caught at cinema when it was released.

Dreeple · 10/11/2020 21:36

Missing the hilarious requirement, but I found The Leather Boys quite engaging.

DanceForMeColin · 10/11/2020 21:36

Hunt For The Wilderpeople - it’s a kiwi film and utterly delightful

OohKittens · 10/11/2020 21:36

I liked Melancholia but it's a bit depressing

Allthedoggos · 10/11/2020 21:44

Not British and maybe a bit too "famous" but Moonrise Kingdom, I loved it so much. Also Eagle and Shark, and to suggest an oldie, Harold and Maude, so lovely. I also enjoyed Grow Your Own but not sure how widely available it is.

TotallyLostThePlotHere · 10/11/2020 21:46

Delicatessen. Not British, but wonderful.

CountTessa · 10/11/2020 21:46

Harold and Maud

( Hunt for the wilderpeople is superb)

User647647 · 10/11/2020 21:46

@DanceForMeColin, I’ve been meaning to watch it since I heard Adam Buxton highly recommend it on his podcast.
Would my 10 year old daughter enjoy it too?

Time40 · 10/11/2020 21:49

Into the West (Irish) and The Dish (Australian) - both wonderful films. The Dish is hilarious in places.
