Love watching films that scare me!

OP posts:

a few months ago i watched a film called locked in, which isn’t really a horror film but scared me. it’s about a woman who, on the way to catch her husband cheating, accidentally locks her baby in a state of the art car that cannot be unlocked from the outside once it’s in lock down mode. i could feel the mother’s panic and desperation as she attempts to save her son and imagining being in that situation really freaked me out.

Melancholia.

Just the feeling of needing to run away to safety with your child and having nowhere to go.

I felt sick.

theharlotletter · 16/02/2019 09:37

Event Horizon. I thought it was just a sci fi action movie and Sam Neill is very easy on the eye, so I settled in with a cup of tea. It was horrible Sad Had to wait for DH to get home because I was too traumatised to go to bed alone.

Jaxtellerswife · 17/02/2019 09:39

@Whylurkwhenicanjoinin for some reason Eden lake really bothered me

theharlotletter · 17/02/2019 11:51

I didn't quite get the ending of Eden Lake. Are we meant to think that the woman is taken back into the bathroom to be murdered by the men or kept hostage and raped?

MarchSurprise · 17/02/2019 11:56

Mother! Don't know if it was because I was pregnant when watching but I've never been affected by a film so much and it still makes me shudder thinking about it.

MadisonAvenue · 17/02/2019 12:07

Blair Witch, and there was camcorder footage-style film about aliens which we watched on Sky some years ago which scared me. I think it was called Alien Abduction, The McPherson Tapes.

QueenOfTheAndals · 17/02/2019 12:39

I was so looking forward to seeing Blair Witch and have never been so disappointed in a film. I found it incredibly boring and not at all scary!

Jiggles101 · 19/02/2019 14:22

The Shining has some truly terrifying moments and themes.

The Babadook was a struggle, haunted me for weeks afterwards.

I remember being scared when I saw The Ring, Blair Witch and the first Paranormal Activity although i don't know how they'd hold up now.

The VVitch wasn't scary as such, but had such a pervasive sense of dread about it, was a great film I loved it.

Texas Chainsaw Massacre and The Descent are both v intense and relentless, don't think I took a breath until the end credits!

narcissistseverywhere · 19/02/2019 19:27

The Grudge is the scariest film I've ever since (I think it was on Horror channel last night, so it should be repeated soon)

thenightsky · 19/02/2019 19:43

30 days of night was pretty brutal. No sparkling vampires in that!

Jiggles101 · 19/02/2019 20:20

Ohh yeah I forgot about the grudge! Fuck me that was insanely scary!

Jiggles101 · 19/02/2019 20:21

The Japanese original I mean.

They're remaking it apparently 🙄

Yutes · 19/02/2019 20:29

Eden Lake
Wolf Creek
The Strangers
The Conjuring
The Nun
Insidious
Sinister
I actually quite liked most of The Paranormal Activity films but can understand they’re not for everyone

Hated Hereditary, It Follows and the Babadook.

Moominfan · 19/02/2019 21:07

I loved the babydoll, movie about mental health disguised as horror. I thought it was so clever

LHMB · 27/02/2019 15:30

Started to watch this with DP yesterday. Made him turn it off as the constant autopsy scenes was making me feel sick. He still wants to finish watching it

LHMB · 27/02/2019 15:34

I meant the autopsy of Jane Doe

tellmewhenthespaceshiplandscoz · 27/02/2019 16:41

Anyone seen F? It's another British one set in a school with a bunch of teachers terrorised by hoodies. Quite scary Confused

BlueDotty · 28/02/2019 16:57

I watched The Autopsy of Jane Doe last week and it is bloody scary there for a while. Then it gets a bit ridiculous!

SusieQ5604 · 12/03/2019 04:54

The Others

The Skeleton Key

Insidious

The Conjuring

AdoreTheBeach · 12/03/2019 05:26

By today’s standards, this isn’t too scary but it scared the hell out of me and for years after I was scared in the shower, would wake up hearing noises and wonder if it were zombies, had a zombie plan in my head etc. Of course zombies are common place in movies and tv now - and in gory colour! But when I was 13 (way, way back when) I was scared to death and it really impacted me.

LadyOfTheCanyon · 12/03/2019 07:01

Oh God, 30 days of night was horrific.

AdoreTheBeach · 12/03/2019 08:24

Meant to write the movie name - night of the living dead

Flowersintheatticconversion · 14/03/2019 18:42

Silence of the lambs. I must have watched it about 20 times and every time I’m just as scared as the first time

taylorlynn · 31/05/2019 19:41

Sinister really freaked me out. Never seen anything like it I was spooked for weeks!

The Strangers was one I watched when I was a lot younger and still scares me.
