Love watching films that scare me!

OP posts:
RedForShort · 21/01/2019 12:01

Anything Japanese. That's horror, obviously; I'm not scared by something like the Cat Returns!

Ringu blows The Ring out of the water with scariness!

QueenOfTheAndals · 21/01/2019 14:10

I agree, although the subsequent films weren't as scary. Dark Water is very good too, and so sad.

GiveMeTheEasterEggs · 21/01/2019 14:19

1970s film called suspiria for jump out of your skin scary.

In dreams or the orphan for wtf? Scary

Myranium · 21/01/2019 14:30
has some of the most unnervingly creepy imagery and scenes in it ever. It's absolutely brilliant.

I also saw recently which was very, very good. Scary but not for the reasons you might initially think...

Hushnownobodycares · 21/01/2019 14:42

GiveMeTheEasterEggs - Was just about to nominate the original Suspiria. Still wary of looking out of a window at night time Grin

Will also nominate Candyman. Real hide under the cushion stuff.

elQuintoConyo · 21/01/2019 14:50

The Fog - John Carpenter version. Shit me up good!

The Orphanage.
Devil's Backbone.
Dark Water (original Japanese film).

Nothing really scares me anymore. What Lies Beneath had a few 'boo' moments.

Love Actually was quite horrifying, I had the misfortune to watch in broad daylight last August, I haven't recovered yet.

MyBreadIsEggy · 21/01/2019 14:57

The Strangers really scared me.
Not because it’s gory or supernaturally “woo”, but because it’s very “real” and it’s a situation that any one of us could find ourselves in.
Your home is supposed to be the one place you are safe, and that film just totally violates that! It had me checking my window locks for weeks Confused

StoatofDisarray · 21/01/2019 14:57

Wolf Creek, Henry, Portrait of a Serial Killer, Hereditary is pretty good. It Follows. All of them gave me the creeps!

Moretinsel · 21/01/2019 15:00

The Ring really scared me.
Event horizon gave me bad dreams!
House on haunted hill on Netflix I loved.

Modwolvesrock · 21/01/2019 15:17

The Poughkeepsie tapes.

Lorie523 · 08/02/2019 08:50

I vary scared ''Hereditary'', really creapy.

Another one for It follows.

I’ve seen a few films that genuinely gave me the creeps recently!

The Autopsy of Jane Doe
Red, White and Blue
The Changeling
Ghost Story (this and the Changeling are both quite old but I feel can still hold their own)

RiverTam · 08/02/2019 09:09

The Woman in Black (I've only seen the one with Daniel Radcliffe)

Kim82 · 08/02/2019 09:11

Orphan. I watched the whole film thinking “what the hell is wrong with this kid?!”

Ikabod · 08/02/2019 09:13

Wolf Creek and The Orphanage, but for very different reasons.

Guardsman18 · 08/02/2019 09:16

The Human Centipede - creepy as!

MilesJuppIsMyBitch · 08/02/2019 09:17

yy to the original Woman in Black. (It was a TV movie I think). Scariest thing I've ever seen.

Newer one is 'The Borderlands': British found-footage film I really enjoyed.

GetOffTheTableMabel · 08/02/2019 09:19

Seven. I wish I could unseen it. Deeply disturbing.

iklboo · 08/02/2019 09:21

YY to Ghost Stories. Really enjoyed it

The Conjuring

The Thing

I wasn't that fussed with The Ring or Blair Witch.

Fazackerley · 08/02/2019 09:22

Hedwigsradio vhs2 has the best 25 minutes of horror that I've ever seen. And I've seen a lot!

WellBHouse · 08/02/2019 09:25

Event horizon

mildshock · 08/02/2019 09:30

Antichrist. I didn't sleep well for days.

It's not particularly scary, but deeply harrowing.

SequinsDress · 08/02/2019 09:33

The Borderlands. The ending made me cry (with fear), it was utterly horrific. That was the last remotely scary film I watched, it broke me and I just can't face any more horror films.

The Ring and The Grudge also scared the shit out of me.

epicclusterfuck · 08/02/2019 09:52

Jacob's Ladder - quite old now but I found it really really disturbing.
