Crap Films You Love Anyway

I'm sure this must have been done before but DS1 is being hard work and I fancied starting a lighthearted thread.

Inspired by the thread about films that make you ugly cry because someone mentioned A.I.

I know A.I. is generally recognised as being utterly crap but I love it. I cry and cry most of the way through but really do just love it!

So, what terrible films do you love? Or films not universally acknowledged as terrible but disapproved of on MN (for me that would be Love Actually)?

I loved Love Actually and the other most hated film according to Munsnet....... Mumma Mia.

MilkTwoSugarsThanks · 15/05/2016 15:24

I loved Mamma Mia Blush

StillStayingClassySanDiego · 15/05/2016 15:24

*Mamma Mia!

CarbonEmittingPenguin · 15/05/2016 15:25

DARYL. About a science experiment kid that just wanted a normal life. Totally crap but I love it.

MadHattersWineParty · 15/05/2016 15:26

Oh I love a crap film on Netflix. I watch them deliberately if I think they're going to be especially bad.

Last one was 'The Brittany Murphey Story' and it was amazingly terrible. Shocking acting, no one looked anything near how they were supposed to (they just shoved a baseball cap on the guy playing Ashton Kutcher) accents all over the place and the script was appalling.

It was brilliant Grin

chickensaresafehere · 15/05/2016 15:26

Dirty Dancing
But it seems to get a lot of hates on here. I just adore it,but couldn't watch it for ages after PS died.

StillStayingClassySanDiego · 15/05/2016 15:28

Love Dirty Dancing too.

I love crap films Smile.

UnderTheGreenwoodTree · 15/05/2016 15:28

'Did you hear about the Morgans?' It gets one star on Rotten Tomatoes, but I love it.

I'm not particularly fond of Hugh Grant or SJP - don't mind them, but not a massive fan or anything - I just love the film. I can watch it again and again.

BigDamnNCFail · 15/05/2016 15:29

I didn't mind Mamma Mia and love Dirty Dancing!

The Wedding Date is my favourite crap film. It's amazing in its crapness, I wish they'd put it back on Netflix.

TrionicLettuce · 15/05/2016 15:35

Suckerpunch Blush I know it's utter misogynistic tripe but my suspension of disbelief is very strong!!

I love a good cheesy fantasy film as well, Legend (TD soundtrack version), Ladyhawke and Krull are my favourites.

Hobbes8 · 15/05/2016 15:49

I love a dance-off film. All the Step Up to the street boogaloo type stuff. Also a good disaster movie - the latest I enjoyed was San Andreas.

littlejeopardy · 15/05/2016 15:53

Oh I love a couple of bad disaster movies too. Twister and Dantes Peak anyone? That poor grandma!

StillStayingClassySanDiego · 15/05/2016 15:55

I also loved The Day after Tomorrow.

Junosmum · 15/05/2016 15:57

Bicentennial man, dirty dancing, grease, save the last dance,

I love loads of cheesey shite.

MinnowAndTheBear · 15/05/2016 16:04

"The Princess and the Marine" is easily my winner. It's actually based on a true story about a US marine who smuggled his Saudi princess girlfriend back to the States by disguising her as a fellow soldier. They get married and everything. So bad it's good.
I've since googled it and the marriage didn't last.

FellOutOfBedTwice · 15/05/2016 16:13

Music and Lyrics. High Grant us a washed up, thinly veiled version of Andrew Ridgely. He sings. He dances. It's brilliant. He and Drew Barrymore fall in love. I've seen it about a hundred times and I never stop loving it. My DH claims he hates it and groans whenever I put it on (and yet, curiously, never leaves the room!)

FellOutOfBedTwice · 15/05/2016 16:13

Hugh not High... Obviously!

winchesterfan · 15/05/2016 16:34

minnowandthebear I LOVE the princess and the marine! I was gutted when I read that the marriage didn't work out after all they did to be together.

MintyChapstick · 15/05/2016 16:36

Grease 2
Rocky 4
Titanic

ARichVernacular · 15/05/2016 17:17

I love dance films of all kinds. The shitter the better Grin Step Up was particularly cheesy and formulaic. A Chorus Line is the grande dame of embarrassing dance flicks.

CremeBrulee · 15/05/2016 17:20

Empire Records - it's cheesy & badly edited so the story doesn't flow well but bits of it are just classic. Rex Manning Day anyone?

emmalimesmom · 15/05/2016 17:24
