What's the worst film you ever manage to live through?

Currently have Sweeney Todd on.

OK so i might not manage to actually live through it which makes me subject title a bit misleading but I've succeeded in keeping it on for over 19 mins purely because I've so far been shocked ridged that a film the cast it has can be so so very awful.

Not sure awful even does it justice

Yes! My god, showgirls was embarrassing!

AnnieLobeseder · 09/01/2011 19:11

My worst ever - and I say this as a sci-fi fan of huge proportions who LOVES cheesy bad sci-fi.....

AI (WTF? Two badly pasted together films that made no sense togther)
Signs (Was tolerable until it went all overly American and religious at the end)
Skyline (that's two hours of my birthday I'll never get back)

They all sully the sci-fi name.

dobiegirl · 09/01/2011 19:12

Cheddacheese - that drag me to hell is a two-layered film - first time you have to watch it as a horror (!) second time round you have to watch it and see the girl severe eating disorder played out the whole way through the film - I still don't get it myself but I realise now the film is about food and fear of food!!

dearprudence · 09/01/2011 19:12

SATC 2, yes - watched on a plane when I had very little choice. Shite (never seen SATC 1)

dearprudence · 09/01/2011 19:14

Just remembered MammaMia - only managed half of it as it was so awful.

ipredicttrouble · 09/01/2011 19:15

Stepbrothers - absolutely terrible!

ChickFlit · 09/01/2011 19:17

After reading this I've been reminded of two others I turned off after 20 minutes, Robin Hood with Russell Crowe, couldn't stand it, he sounds Australian in any film he ever makes, his accents are rot and he's not the great actor he thinks he is.

Nine - really wanted to watch it but was so disappointed and had to turn it off.

Nicole Kidman very nearly spoiled Australia for me and in the first 20 minutes I couldn't work out if she was playing it for laughs. Fortunately the film was saved by the gorgeous Hugh Jackman and the stunning scenery, but I think it would have been a million times better without Ms Kidman.

DH loves crap films, so I have seen some terrible things.

Jurassic Park 3. Not 2, 3. It was dreadful.
2001 A Space Odyssey. Yawn. Then I actually fell asleep during 2012.
Van Helsing. Even DH agreed that this was dire and we switched off after 20 minutes.
Alien 4.

I like Eyes Wide Shut though.

caffeineaddict · 09/01/2011 19:19

Love Actually

PavlovtheCat · 09/01/2011 19:21

Everything with that prick in. you know the laughing gurning jerkoff.

OmicronPersei8 · 09/01/2011 19:23

I know I'm a bit late to the party, but I just watched that Mark Kermode review of SATC2. Fantistic. Grin

PartialToACupOfMilo · 09/01/2011 19:23

Fear and Loathing in Las Vegas - the only film I ever walked out of - rubbish!

OmicronPersei8 · 09/01/2011 19:23

*Or fantastic even.

MrsThisIsTheCadillacOfNailguns · 09/01/2011 19:25

Showgirls
12 Monkeys
My stepmother is an alien
Magnolia
Beautiful creatures
Moulin Rouge
Sweeny Todd.

I can't watch anything with Jim Carrey in it.The only one I've ever managed was 'A series of unfortunate events',which I like for its gothic style.

Cheddacheese · 09/01/2011 19:26

Oh god no dobiegirl I couldn't watch it again, I'll take your word for it lol. It was the acting that was so dire and Shock

PavlovtheCat · 09/01/2011 19:29

mrsthisis that is the very man!

aStarWithHerOwnWays · 09/01/2011 19:30

amicissima Night Watch the book is actually pretty decent, but I can see how the film might have turned out as shite as you say. I caught the first few minutes of Day Watch (NW pt 2) and it looked much as you describe.

Mamma Mia is shit, of course it's shit. I love Abba and all, but come on, any film that makes me want to slap Julie Walters must be utter gash.

swanriver I'm impressed that (a) you are able to forget Titanic (wish I could) and (b) that you can find something to enjoy when you remember it.

Frizzbonce · 09/01/2011 19:38

bigknickersbigknockers I'm with you there. All those arselicking pieces about how 'important' it was. Inpenetrable gobshite with only those long leather coats to recommend it!

But the worst film I ever saw was the obnoxious Stepmom. A huge waste of Julia Roberts, Ed Harris and Susan Sarandon as the ex wife who lives in a mansion and dies oh so prettily of cancer. Ugh Ugh Ugh.

Antihelicopterparents · 09/01/2011 19:53

Will probably get shot down in flames for this one but hated Avatar, hubby and I kept glancing at each other with raised eyebrows- BORING and oh so pc.
Lost the will to live in G force.
Also the stage version of Dirty Dancing, unintentionally hilarious !!

doublechocchip · 09/01/2011 19:57

satc 2- cringe cringe cringe
the yes man
underworld
transfomers 2- after enjoying the first one they got it wrong- so wrong.

PavlovtheCat · 09/01/2011 19:58

Shock just read some-one has said Bladerunner Shock watch it again fgs! It is an awesome film. Although it must be the directors cut of course.

I am just stunned...Grin

lovinme · 09/01/2011 20:02

the worst film I've seen is called Three it's got Kelly Brook and Billy Zane in it.I can't think why my dp wanted to watch it lol.The most boring film I watched was called road to rancoon our something like that its got Patricia Arquette in it.I watched it years and years ago and I still can't believe how boring it was.

LongIslandIcedTea · 09/01/2011 20:03

Agree with Mama Mia, seems u either really love it or u really hate it.

Bad Santa, horrific and scarred me for life, cannot forget the image of the Santa humping a game machine and behaving so crudely {!)

Dinner for schmucks - pointless
Scott pilgrim vs the world
Eternal sunshine of the spotless mind
Get him to the greek
Couples retreat
cats and dogs 2

And one i saw recently Animals united. Very disappointing and was hoping it would get better but no it got worse. Seemed to be a message about global warming.

abgirl · 09/01/2011 20:04

'Meet Joe Black' - was mine and DH's first ever date and was truely awful, knew DH was the one when we still wanted to see one another after sitting through that pile of tosh!

ChickFlit · 09/01/2011 20:08

I love Bad Santa it's hilarious!
