What's the worst film you ever manage to live through?

Currently have Sweeney Todd on.

OK so i might not manage to actually live through it which makes me subject title a bit misleading but I've succeeded in keeping it on for over 19 mins purely because I've so far been shocked ridged that a film the cast it has can be so so very awful.

Not sure awful even does it justice

I wanted to vomit at 'the cook, the thief, his wife and her lover'

StarlightPrincess · 09/01/2011 18:18

Yep Lotster, that one. I can't see why anyone would consider it a classic!

atah · 09/01/2011 18:20

Inception - WTF? I didn't get it and nor did anyone else I heard coming out of the cinema but it gets great reviews.......

Lotster · 09/01/2011 18:26

Starlight - One (wo)man's trash is another's treasure I suppose! Grin

Grimma I stupidly took my parents to see Se7en... when the skeletal body sat up in bed my mum FREAKED. She screamed and ran out of the cinema, then got really embarrassed and tried to style it out by coming back in with popcorn. Only the popcorn stand was closed so she picked up a discarded bucket, and edged back down the row to her seat, not realising she was bonking several people in the row in front on the head with the popcorn. Mortifying.

longfingernails · 09/01/2011 18:29

Dumb and Dumberer (the sequel - the original was quite funny)

gibbberish · 09/01/2011 18:31

Loved inception!

Worst film has to be mama mia. I know I am the only person on the planet who thought it was crap. Dreadful acting and truly horrendous singing and dancing. Awful.

Oh and next is igor. So depressing and boring. Took the girls to see it and they all hated it. What a waste of money and an afternoon.

The Night Porter - Totally twisted and completely unrealistic - As if a Jewish girl is gonna fall in love and wish to return to the demented Nazi who used her as a sex slave in a concentration camp!!

GroovyGretel · 09/01/2011 18:38

I was thinking about this today as I packed our DVD collection into cases for shipping (sigh) and thought of another I hated

Robin Hood with Russell Crowe, I mean, why so much (dull) backstory? What the hell was that accent? Why was it so dull? Why??

On the other hand, I like The Lake House...[Keanu lover and therefore would sit through almost anything emoticon]

HappyTangerine · 09/01/2011 18:46

The Others. I wanted to slap Nicole Kidman's character, had no sympathy for her at all

Reign of Fire - dh thought I'd like it as it was " a bit of an action flick" Hmm and had Matthew McConoughey in it. Utter pile of shite, worst film I have ever seen.

The Blair Witch Project-overblown hype that only got going at the end. I spent the whole film muttering "Climb a bloody tree why don't you?"

2012 sticks in my memory as having the worst last line of a movie ever.

Raising Cain - saw it years ago when in uni and almost cried, it was so bad and such a waste of my meagre student budget that week.

memphis83 · 09/01/2011 18:48

gibberish i have finally found someone who agrees with me Mama Mia is shit!!! worst film ive ever been to the cinema to watch (i was dragged there kicking and screaming by my mum who promised to buy me Ben and Jerrys!)
AI is a shocking pile of crap too!

swanriver · 09/01/2011 18:50

Loved The Tenenbaums Grin first night escape togeher then twins were 3 weeks old??

Legends of the Fall is my most tedious viewing experience despite Brad's flowing locks
and one of the Pirates of Caribbean 2nd or 3rd was it lost me somewhere

I loved Magnolia too.
Fell asleep in G-force, that was supremely boring.

And Titantic never bores me, it is soo long tht I always forget some bits of it, to enjoy when I watch it again..

swanriver · 09/01/2011 18:51

I loved The Others tangerine, I love watching it again and again to pick up the discrepancies ditto Village.

strandednomore · 09/01/2011 18:52

Another vote for Couple's Retreat. I almost started this EXACT THREAD the other night after sitting through it. Or should I say, most of it - we gave up before it finished as it was so awful. Vince Vaughn's self indulgent crap.

And one from a few years ago - Twins. How was that funny?

pacita · 09/01/2011 18:56

goplayout, I was waiting for someone to mention Scent of a Woman. God it was dire! Al Pacino's darkest moment, and misogynistic crap.

The edge of love. Appalling script, an excuse for Sienna MIller and Kiera Knightly to pounce around in florals and wellies as if they were off to Glastonbury, and nothing of relevance about Dylan Thomas or his life.

Jackin · 09/01/2011 18:56

Er, it wasn't.
Did anyone see a pile of toss called my little eye?

OmicronPersei8 · 09/01/2011 18:58

Skyline. What a waste of a rare night out for me and DH. Sub-standard alien invasion (no one ever says the word alien in the film). Poor casting, almost non-existent writing or plot, and worst of all for what looked like an action/aliens/horrorish film - no action.

I sat there contemplating a nap, while DH was planning to walk out. Neither of us did as we didn't want to spoil our night out. Still, we got two hours of conversation out of is as we tore it apart afterwards. Grin

whatkungfuthat · 09/01/2011 19:02

Any Jim Carrey film from the Cable Guy onwards

The Watchmen apart from the bits with Rorschach in, it was a bum-numbing 3 hours

Brad Pitt movies, I just think he acting is shite

LemonDifficult · 09/01/2011 19:02

Close run thing between two worst cinema visits:

Sex and the City 2
or
Gangs of New York

At least in SATC2 didn't go on for 20 million hours or whatever so I guess Gangs of New York gets it. Dire, dire.

whatkungfuthat · 09/01/2011 19:03

Have to agree with SATC2, although I hated the SJP whining in SATC1 too but loved the Jennifer Hudson character.

whatkungfuthat · 09/01/2011 19:04

his acting Blush

Lotster · 09/01/2011 19:05

Ooh just thought of one of the most universally despised - SHOWGIRLS! Awful awful awful.

gibbberish · 09/01/2011 19:06

Wow memphis! Had resigned myself to believing I was truly the only person on the planet to hate mama mia! Brill!

piratecat · 09/01/2011 19:07

the TOURIST

last night

what a bloody waste of some great actors, superb setting, a could have been storyline.

i left laughing, and very annoyed that I had parted with 8 quid. wtf! it was so hammy, badly shot, directed, everything!!

Cheddacheese · 09/01/2011 19:07
