What's the worst film you ever manage to live through?

Currently have Sweeney Todd on.

OK so i might not manage to actually live through it which makes me subject title a bit misleading but I've succeeded in keeping it on for over 19 mins purely because I've so far been shocked ridged that a film the cast it has can be so so very awful.

Not sure awful even does it justice

I liked The English Patient.

I did not like Lawnmower Man.
I don't even know what it was about, but it was boring.

All James Bond films, as I don't get them, and never understand the plot.
I'm not that thick, really, but James Bond films are beyond me.

BodleianBabe · 08/01/2011 21:58

Fred The Movie!!!!!!!!!

It is the most awful movie ever. I is actually painful to watch and listen to. I desperately wanted to leave and if the boys had been over 12 (it's a 12a) I would have left and gone for a coffee.

In fact a group of teenage boys (14/15 years old actually walked out it was that bad. When we came out they were still outside muttering about what a load of c**p it was.

aimingforthesky · 08/01/2011 22:12

Fred The Movie for me too!! Very similar situation as DD2 and her friend are 11. DD1 (15) and I wanted to leave from 30secs after it started. Painful screeching, no plot, charchters or scenery and I can ususally find something interesting about any crap kids film.

aimingforthesky · 08/01/2011 22:16

My only polyanna moment is to now have a 'worst film I ever saw' if anyone asks! So really pleased to see this thread.

MoldyWarp · 08/01/2011 22:19

ethelina i LOVED run lola run

StantonLacy · 08/01/2011 22:22

For me, it was Kids - that Larry Clark one.
Just grim, then a bit more grim, then really grim at the end. Ugh.

antidote Really ?? The Life aquatic ??!!
Love, love, love it ! (have even got the soundtrack with all those David Bowie covers on in portuguese - prententious, moi?!)
In fact, I even wanted some of those special adidas trainers designed for the film...I'll stop now, I think Blush

MoldyWarp · 08/01/2011 22:32

notheroldie - i class magnolia as one of the best films i have ever seen

tom cruise is supposed to be heinous in it - he is brilliant

mazzystartled · 08/01/2011 22:37

Sliding Doors
The Talented Mr Ripley
or the unmitigated dreariness of Lost in Translation
(despite the genius that is Bill Murray and the lusciousness of Scarlett Johannssen)
Gangs of New York - just horrible

CointreauVersial · 08/01/2011 22:38

Gah! The dds are desperate to see Fred The Movie. I might sneakily suggest dh takes them while I go shopping .

lurkingsnurker · 08/01/2011 22:49

Can't believe eternal sunshine makes it onto this thread - its a fabulous film.

I would put anything with jim carey in it (except perhaps the Truman show) on here though - that whole slapstick comedy genre just leaves me cold.

Oh, and moulin rouge? Love it Grin

MoldyWarp · 08/01/2011 22:50

eternal sunshine = the pits

MoldyWarp · 08/01/2011 22:52

the tape

Snorbs · 08/01/2011 22:54

I remember sitting through Eyes Wide Shut waiting for a discernible plot to emerge. And then it finished.

I watched about 45min of Mrs Henderson Presents and turned it off as it was just boring me senseless. Which is unusual because usually I'll sit through any old rubbish.

I'm hoping that I might manage to "accidentally" forget that Fred The Movie is in the cinema. DD's desperate to see it but I don't think I'd be able to live through it without gnawing my own kneecaps off.

goplayout · 08/01/2011 23:10

Scent of a Woman.....

ILoveMyBrick · 08/01/2011 23:16

Lost in translation was, to me, pretty pointless. As was 'Closer' (both bought on DVD I should add, although they were fairly cheap Hmm)

gaelicsheep · 08/01/2011 23:19

I saw the beginning of Sweeney Todd but had to turn it off because DS appeared downstairs. I thought it was great and I want to see the rest.

Ditto to Moulin Rouge - doesn't count for me either. It is the only film that I have had to turn off it is so truly terrible.

Lost in Translation is up there, but I'm sure there was something worse - I just can't remember what it was.

beachholiday · 08/01/2011 23:21

Pearl Harbour was incredible. Twice I thought it was the ending and both times there was another fecking hour to go.

Snorbs · 08/01/2011 23:41

Y'see, I like Lost in Translation. It's pretty to look at, the music's good, and I think it does a good enough job at evoking the feeling of being a stranger in a strange land. Yeah, it doesn't really go anywhere but that's not the purpose of it.

And I love Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind. If you can forgive the self-indulgent touchy-feely wank for a moment, I think it raises the serious question of "If you could erase the memories of an unhappy relationship, would that be a good thing or would it doom you to repeat the same mistakes all over again?"

burp< Right, I think I'd better stop boozing and get myself off to bed before I really start making myself look like a media studies undergraduate...

ShowOfHands · 09/01/2011 00:44

Moldywarp can I ask why you're called that?

I agree about Sideways but even though I hate that kind of film and the people in it, I quite liked the Lake House whatsit with Keanu One Expression Reeves.

MigratingCoconuts · 09/01/2011 17:58

I know its not a film but..Les Miserables!
I struggled through that one and at the end, my friend turned round and said 'brilliant isn't it! I've seen it 14 times!'

Losing nerve, I mumbled something about really great sets...but I really wanted to say that the plot was full of holes (kept trying to find out from the programme why people would suddenly turn up in Paris for no reason) and the way they kept singing dialogue was soo bloody annoying. Its like its trying to be an opera when its not. All but one song was dull dull dull.

Lotster · 09/01/2011 18:09

Lots of goodn's on here, must agree with SATC.

I thought Planet of the Apes featuring HBC was shite. Also Waterworld.

StarlightPrincess · 09/01/2011 18:10

Blade Runner. What a load of old shit.

Lotster · 09/01/2011 18:13

Blade Runner the seminal modern Film Noir your mean??

GrimmaTheNome · 09/01/2011 18:15

Se7en - came out of the cinema feeling ill.

HardyPerineum · 09/01/2011 18:17

Tomb Raider. I really did want to throw things after coming out of that movie.
