Wow Shock

They all come out looking shit.

All this crap about trial by media, innocent till proven guilty etc - it's not about that.

If he was still working for the bbc he'd be suspended immediately.

No one can suspend him. He works for himself.

It's public interest. That's why dispatches, the times did it.

I really do think all this is because of Saville and what they learned- or rather DIDNT learn. They being - who? Cps? Police? Government? Bbc?

TheFirstStraw · 21/09/2023 15:54

Yeah, I think if I hear anymore lamentations about "trial by media" and "innocent until proven guilty" I might scream.

If people feel so strongly that criminals should be held to account in a real court, where were they when rape convictions fell to the disgustingly low level that they are today? Or when victims were further traumatised by being treated like the criminals? When rape kits were being stuffed into broken fridges? When men were getting away with rape by saying they "fell into" the victim? If I'd been one of Brand's victims, damn right I'd go with the journalists who actually believe me and are serious about building a case, and where I'm allowed to retain anonymity than with the shitshow of police, CPS and, if you're very lucky, a jury - possibly consisting of men who think Andrew Tate is a hero.

And with the innocent until proven guilty thing, I don't hear much upset about defendants being remanded in custody until trial. Perhaps we shouldn't do that anymore. Just let them out. After all, "thEir iNnOceNt".

WarriorN · 21/09/2023 16:05

Bbc radio 4 woman's hour had a piece on today about a new independent regulatory body to over see all this crap and who women can go to.

And then Doon Mackichan is on and discussing similar issues; it's an interesting discussion @JenniferBooth

WarriorN · 21/09/2023 16:06

Oops she mentions Jim Davison accidentally and that's not been edited out ....

More allegations, bbc implicated

Woman says Russell Brand exposed himself to her then laughed about it on Radio 2 show www.bbc.co.uk/news/entertainment-arts-66882644

What the fuck?

Had he told the other presenter what he'd just done?!

Clymene · 21/09/2023 19:37

Russell Brand is one disgusting man. The BBC sending a car to collect a schoolgirl from school to deliver her to his house is more than just turning a blind eye. I think it's more than enabling. It's pimping.

This should bring the fucking BBC down. How can or should they survive after Savile and this?

They enable and support paedophiles and rapists.

WE ARE PAYING THEM TO BRING CHILDREN TO BE SEXUALLY ASSAULTED BY MEN.

Apologies for shouting there but we are.

How can we destroy this sick corrupt organisation?

SheilaFentiman · 21/09/2023 19:46

@Clymene was it the bbc who sent the car? Or Brand?

SheilaFentiman · 21/09/2023 20:00

The driver quoted in the article was described as a taxi driver

That was a different occasion to the two BBC rides she got.

It looks like he bragged about it when he got back in the studio and his co-presenter talked about in on air - they both laughed.

I didn’t see that.

Utterly fucking gross. The other bloke should be investigated, too.

WarriorN · 21/09/2023 21:24

It's all utterly grim, all of it, him and everyone who turned a blind eye.

BigMandsTattooPortfolio · 21/09/2023 21:25

The irony of ‘Innocent until proven guilty’ when the same goddam people have decided the victims are guilty of lying.

LadyWiddiothethird · 21/09/2023 21:29

The addiction centre near me still have photos of Russell Brand on their Facebook page,he is often there.Really think they should take them down.Lots of us were not happy with the association with him long before the latest accusations, his behaviour was always sleazy.

WarriorN · 21/09/2023 21:33

I can't imagine how hard it must be to be a victim and witness both the arrogance of the internet plus the denial and outright gaslighting from him

I also hadn't considered that some recovering addicts have relied on either him or the idea of him coming through.

I mean, this is a stain. A massive fucking stain. A deep rot.

TooBigForMyBoots · 22/09/2023 01:08

It's grooming in action.

WarriorN · 22/09/2023 02:32

He groomed the internet from my pov.

He taught them to doubt mainstream media.

It's interesting that this started at the guardian under a programme called "trews" claiming to be 'truthful news you can trust.' Which seems to have been completely aimed at younger readers.

WarriorN · 22/09/2023 02:37

Ah I'm not sure if it was with the Guardian but they certainly had a few on their website as that's where I remember coming across it. One was linked upthread too via the Guardian

WarriorN · 22/09/2023 02:40

Apparently Katie Perry nicknamed him Rasputin too...

BernardBlacksMolluscs · 22/09/2023 07:00

Why wasn’t his career over when he got his dick out at work?

I’ve worked in some pretty sexist environments, but I feel sure that if I’d gone to HR and said ‘this man in a position of authority showed me his dick at work, and here’s a recording of him joking about it with a colleague’, that man would be toast

not at the BBC it seems

ArabeIIaScott · 22/09/2023 07:07

From my reading the woman didn't realise there was a recording until very recently.

I'm still processing that recording. Unbelievable.
