What does it mean?

MaydinEssex · 22/11/2022 00:09

TheFarawayNearby · 22/11/2022 00:06

What does it mean?

I don't understand it either

BaBaBarelle · 22/11/2022 00:11

Is it about something along the lines of what king charles said to Camilia that time? Sounds gross anyway.

TheFarawayNearby · 22/11/2022 00:13

I think it's something about personal messages (DMs). And possibly pronouns.

I don't think it's to do with King Charles and Queen Camilla, but I could be wrong!

DogsAkimbo · 22/11/2022 00:17

‘In their DMs’ means messaging ‘them’ - so women in this instance, on social media. They’re likely referring to trying it on with someone - getting in their DMs. And then they’re saying ‘but we’re (Tampax) not just inside women’s online mailboxes, we’re literally inside them.

And yes Charles and Camilla comes to mind. I just think it’s a really creepy misogynistic joke from Tampax.

I thought that it was about Dr Marten boots misses point

BaBaBarelle · 22/11/2022 00:20

No, it's not about them charles and cilla as such. But he said he wanted to be a tampon so he could be in her Mary. (And the whole country said "ewww" which is the correct response to such talk).

TheFarawayNearby · 22/11/2022 00:20

It's pretty disgusting if that's what they mean. But what's the point of it? Why are they tweeting essentially to men in a degrading way about women? Tampax are shit anyway.

zen1 · 22/11/2022 00:22

Agree the whole thing is weird and mysogynistic. Always is joining in too

God knows. Social media brownie points and attention. Young male person running their account maybe.

It really sounds like the work of public (or private I guess if they're in the US) school incels. Surely no woman would want to buy from a brand that puts its name to such weird sniggering bellendery.

DogsAkimbo · 22/11/2022 00:26

JaneJeffer · 22/11/2022 00:24

Who is "you" referring to?

It reads as ‘men’ I’d say. Just a nice misogynistic, vaguely violating conversation between the largest tampon manufacturer and men of the internet. Referring to their customers as ‘they.’

OP posts:
FartOutLoudDay · 22/11/2022 00:28

it really does give off the weirdest vibe. I don’t get it, or what prompted it.

DogsAkimbo · 22/11/2022 00:28

I suppose on the plus side I only have a few years of periods left. Why worry about your long term customers who won’t need you much longer when you’re assuming the younger ones think you’re hilarious.

OP posts:
DogsAkimbo · 22/11/2022 00:34

There are a load of people on Twitter misunderstanding the people who don't like it - they're saying things like 'don't be stupid, how can it be saying periods are sexual?' Rather than realising it's basically a company having a bit of a laugh about how their product gets to be inside women when men on the internet only get to be in their mailboxes. I mean yeah... how lovely.

I'm glad I'm old and don't need tampons anymore reading stuff like that!

catsonahottinroof · 22/11/2022 00:50

Sorry I don't understand it?

catsonahottinroof · 22/11/2022 00:54

Just seen your explanation op, if that's what it means it is disgusting - quite sinister too.

Yes, it's sinister. The fact they're equating themselves, as the company, as the 'we' that is also 'inside them' meaning inside women. Nasty.

Thats how I read it too. I slightly vomited in my mouth when I saw it. Absolutely vile.

MrsDigbyChickenCaeser · 22/11/2022 02:50

Ugh the thread underneath it is weird.

What a creepy idea.

TedMullins · 22/11/2022 03:14

It’s a variation on a widely used phrase/meme. I think it’s quite funny. There certainly isn’t any deeper/sinister meaning behind it
