Am I misunderstanding how foul this tweet is? People seem to be feting them for it.

I was going to say about the meme

The content differs quite a bit but it's always

"you are . I am _. We are not the same" Usually with an "I'm superior" sort of implication

But althought it exmplaines the odd wording it really doesn't change how distasteful the tweet is

Have they even considered how this reads when you take into account that children use tampons? 10, 11, 12 year old girls???

Well quite. Shouldn't we be encouraging girls to have a choice, give them.options where they can carry on swimming and horseriding and sports etc without worrying.

I don't think they mean what you think they mean.

I read it as them saying that using a tampon doesn't mean you're no longer a virgin (old wives tale) and that just because you're talking to someone it doesn't mean you have any rights to their body, but I could be way off the mark.

It's weird. The meme is about people competing over their relationship with the person in question. Okay, people get insecure about exes etc. But isn't the whole point of the meme, 'my relationship with X is more meaningful than yours'?

And now they are saying a tampon is somehow analogous to this because it penetrates a woman? I thought we'd left behind this nonsense about passive woman as prize to be pentrated.

And meaningful relationships are about more than penetration.

My most charitable reading of it is big brand trying to be down with the kids.

Its disgusting.

I'm surprised a brand that is for women would put this out on social media.

It does seem twitter is a cesspit if they think this is acceptable.

It's not the real company posting - anyone can get a blue tick now thanks to Elon. Doesn't make it any less vulgar tho.

I actually can’t tell if it is parody or not. The handle would suggest not and previous tweets are a real mixed bag!

@MrsHMarsh it's funny to me because it's a take on a viral joke about "we're not the same". It tickles my sense of humour. I didn't find it offensive or disgusting. I don't get the outrage over it.

I think I deleted mine about two years ago now and I am 100% better off for it!

Its the same as saying You’re messaging her but I’m shagging her nudge nudge. It’s as black and white as that. The have turned a hygiene product into a corporate dick.
