And why can one no longer ask someone a question on here without getting this Hmm in return.

MN is turning into a bit of a wall too.

I thought it was really funny 🤷‍♀️

I found it humoursome aswell, and fail to see how it shows hatred toward women! Sick of being in a world where every single world someone says offends someone!

I’m the last person to be offended by everything but it’s really disingenuous to claim this wasn’t created to be offensive.

Advert written by a woke man who mistakenly believes he's switched on.

Your fuse needs changing, son.

tuttifruit · 22/11/2022 13:32

Agree, the tweet is disgusting. And I am not easily offended normally

Maybe consider the way you ask your questions, then.

JaneJeffer · 22/11/2022 13:17

I know but where did you get the virginity thing from?

Because loads of people believed that using tampons meant you were no longer a virgin when I was growing up

JaneJeffer · 22/11/2022 13:36

No @girlmom21 I'll consider who I ask instead. Not someone who takes offence at a perfectly fine question.

"How did you come to that conclusion?" is almost always used to make someone feel stupid

JaneJeffer · 22/11/2022 13:41

That wasn't my intention at all @girlmom21 I wondered if there was something in the tweet that I wasn't seeing, TikTok humour not being my thing.

MrsHMarsh · 22/11/2022 13:44

I don’t understand how this tweet references virginity, am I being thick? I might be as I have been up most of the night

Fair enough. Apologies for misinterpreting. TikTok isn't my thing either!

As I mentioned before loads of people (mostly boys/men) believed that using tampons meant you were no longer a virgin when I was growing up

JaneJeffer · 22/11/2022 13:50

I remember letters to teenage magazines wondering about that back in the day @girlmom21. More innocent times.

tribpot · 22/11/2022 13:56

Well, #BoycottTampax is now trending on Twitter so clearly views on the hilarity of this tweet are mixed.

Hungrycaterpillarsmummy · 22/11/2022 13:58

They just deleted it

So in relation to this tweet what does it mean?

I guess the tweet doesnt directly reference virginity but does infer sexual intercourse. Which if you are a girl aged 13 and use tampons may make you wonder about whether using one affects your virginity.

Oh so its a positive message about virginity and men messaging for sex? I think it must have slipped by me sorry!

Redebs · 22/11/2022 14:10

The functions of the human female body are increasingly mocked by advertisers, with no respect for anyone who might not want them treated with such disrespect.

I particularly detest the ad for breast self examination where an embarrassed woman at a supermarket checkout is publically named and asked if she's checked her 'melons'. It just reminds me of the crude cat-calling that lots of us had to put up with, growing up.

Having people randomly referring to your private anatomy in public is the height of disrespect. It's the kind of thing teenage boys do in front of their mates in the street.

But then women's bodies aren't our own personal things, are they? They are public property, liable to be hijacked by advertisers, comedians and men with AGP. We are either lusted after or ridiculed, depending on the motives of the commentators.

tribpot · 22/11/2022 14:10

MrsHMarsh · 22/11/2022 14:01

I can still see it.

Yep, me too.

Rowthe · 22/11/2022 14:15

The way I read the tweet

He may be in your DM ( he is trying to start a relationship with you and has only got as far as messaging/ texting you)
But we are in you ( we are way past the messaging stage and already inside you- meaning fucking you).

We are not the same- (you cant compare us, we are way ahead, Wayhey!! Wink wink, nudge nudge, flexes biceps.

So if you consider really young girls use tampons even under the age of 13, personally I feel it is a really disgusting tweet. Seems to be written by a man and catering to a man, with women only referred to as them/ they/ their.

The tweet is talking to a man.

MrsHMarsh · 22/11/2022 14:26

@Rowthe Yeah, that’s how I read it. I don’t see any other way to read it.

MrsHMarsh · 22/11/2022 14:27

That’s what the meme means as well so I don’t know why everyone is flapping their hands on Twitter calling anyone that calls it out a terfy dinosaur.
