How can there be an investigation if there is no name?

TooBigForMyBoots · 27/04/2022 19:42

They really couldn't be more contemptuous of women if they tried.

SwedishEdith · 27/04/2022 19:53

If it's a female minister, you could see how often these are in the Commons and who usually sits near them www.gov.uk/government/ministers

Knifer · 27/04/2022 20:18

Unsurprised.

I was in Tesco last year and a man was walking along holding his phone out in front of him, headphone cable trailing from ears to device, bumping into shelves and people as he stared at the screen. If that hadn't been enough for everyone to notice him, his facemask said "Kiss Me Quick" which I've not seen since the 90s. Anyway. He dropped his phone, it skated across the floor, came to rest just under the shelf near the lady selecting cereal next to me. She got down and scrabbled for it, picked it up, handed it back and immediately went bright red and put her head down, which looked bizarre with her visor. I was a bit concerned when he shuffled off because she was still bright red and staring fixedly at the floor. I said "are you alright?" She nodded and she sort of hiss whispered to me, "that was pornography he was watching. Here in the supermarket! Dirty old bastard!"

LizzieSiddal · 27/04/2022 20:22

Watching porn in a public place should be illegal. It’s just vile!

i cannot wait for this man’s name to be leaked and then him sacked.

Mrstumbletap · 27/04/2022 20:29

Ahh I need to know who!

They need to be sacked, they are paid a LOT of money and are civil servants. I would get sacked, they should too.

Perverted twat.

greasyshoes · 27/04/2022 20:36

In France a woman who uploaded a video of a man masturbating on the train was fined MORE than the man. Invading a man's privacy to masturbate in public is much worse than. masturbating in public apparently.

You need to calm down. The media likes to spit out attention-grabbing headlines that get people riled up (judging by your reaction, it seems to have been effective), but once you read the story carefully, you can see it's a non-story.

The article simply states this is a MAXIMUM theoretical fine. The maximum fine is rarely ever imposed, and this is purely a theoretical fine based on filming someone's private life.

Now while I know virtually nothing about French law, I seriously doubt that masturbating on a train qualifies as someone's "private life", and therefore, the whole thing is just fake news. To confirm this, I googled the woman's name (Natacha Bras) to see if she actually received any fine for filming this man. No such stories could be found, which confirmed that no such fine was issued to Natacha Bras and that my initial suspicions were indeed correct.

MrsTerryPratchett · 27/04/2022 20:41

Same old apologists for repulsive behaviour focusing on the same old whataboutery. It reassuring in some ways.

Don't focus on the woman who had to witness walking by some dodgy pervert. Noooo focus on the fine.

Men, please don't wank or watch porn in public. It shouldn't need saying but it clearly does. Also public loos count. And changing room. Wank in private at home.

MrsTerryPratchett · 27/04/2022 20:42

Wanking not walking.

Prudish autocorrect is better than living men.

MrsSkylerWhite · 27/04/2022 20:45

Decency aside, what a f*ing idiot: the MP must have known he would be rumbled and plastered all over the press. Only a matter of time before he’s named then his career is over.
Who would vote for someone so stupid?
.

greasyshoes · 27/04/2022 20:47

@MrsTerryPratchett

Same old apologists for repulsive behaviour focusing on the same old whataboutery.

I didn't make any excuses for his behaviour.

I don't think you know what "whataboutery" is.

Don't focus on the woman who had to witness walking by some dodgy pervert. Noooo focus on the fine.

It's the media that is focusing on hypothetical fines. I debunked all the talk of fines as being fake news, which it is.

MrsTerryPratchett · 27/04/2022 20:52

I'm not going to bother asking you a direct question about men wanking in public @greasyshoes because IME you don't answer them direct questions.

You're one of those men who just wander the earth finding ways to try to prove women wrong. I wonder if you know my brother...

Back to the actual point... men becoming more and more entitled in their attitude to sex and sexual behaviour. The MP needs sacking.

JemimaPiddleDick · 27/04/2022 20:55

Confirmation IMHO that Tories are w@nkers

JemimaPiddleDick · 27/04/2022 20:55

Confirmation IMHO that Tories are w@nkers

If any were needed.

Nightlystroll · 27/04/2022 21:00

It's disgusting. Firstly, they should be working so whether it's porn or a funny cat youtube video, they should be disciplined for not doing some work. And secondly, to be so disrespectful of people around you, irrespective of whether they're women or men, is shameful. Absolutely awful behaviour.

GreenClock · 27/04/2022 21:06

I’m public sector and I’d be sacked for that. I wonder what will happen to this fella.

Changechangychange · 27/04/2022 21:10

I doubt Rees-Mogg knows how to work the internet, and if the rumours are true, Gove wouldn’t be into straight porn. Sunak and Javid don’t seem the types, and obviously it was a male minister so not Truss, Patel etc.

My money’s on Raab or Shapps, but it could be one of the more obscure ones - I googled and there are loads of really minor ministers I’ve never even heard of.

greasyshoes · 27/04/2022 21:34

Back to the actual point... men becoming more and more entitled in their attitude to sex and sexual behaviour. The MP needs sacking.

I would wait for the outcome of the investigation first.

ScreamingMeMe · 27/04/2022 21:36

I can't get my head around why men do this in public - is it part of the thrill, or are they so addicted they can't go for 5 minutes without?

Anyway it's utterly repulsive.

user750 · 27/04/2022 21:38

@greasyshoes how have you debunked it? This is the original tweet I believe:
twitter.com/Onlygold20/status/1143800731780222982
She could have been given a higher fine than the man - showing the absurdity of the law in France. The law in the UK is not upheld.
I work with young people. By their own account almost every single young woman's first experience of seeing a penis is when a man sends them a video of themselves or they see a man indecently expose himself.
What is your reason to tell me to 'calm down' in a patronising way - very David Cameron of you.

A lot of paraphilias become more extreme/risky over time.

@user750 She could have been given a higher fine than the man - showing the absurdity of the law in France.

As I explained in my original comment, from reading the news articles, you can see it was a purely theoretical scenario if she had been found guilty of invading someone's private life. Clearly, this was thrown out by the court, otherwise she would have actually been fined.

Shinyandnew1 · 27/04/2022 21:45

No doubt it will be referred to some sort of ‘internal’ enquiry which will found that no crime was committed, or he didn’t know it was porn, or he did know it was porn, but he did it by accident. Or some such whitewash.

He should be suspended, which is what would happen if I was found watching porn at work whilst I should have been doing my job.

youkiddingme · 27/04/2022 21:45

Apart from anything else, do they ever actually do any work?

Kendodd · 27/04/2022 21:50

Watching porn in a public place should be illegal. It’s just vile!
That would involve those said same MPs voting to make it illegal.
