Work device. Both myself (school) and DH (solicitors) have to sign a document which states what we can/can't use work devices and work WIFI for, and the consequences of not following these.

As you know, a work device is the concern of your employer, not your professional body, which is what I was saying; employer, understandable, but being struck off is a real step above that.

Being sacked for gross misconduct may be viewed as bringing your profession into disrepute.

Fifteentoes · 30/04/2022 08:29

Still. at least the Tories "know what a woman is", and obviously we should all vote for them as the party of womens' rights.

The juxtaposition of these two news stories just breaks your heart

And there's his resignation. Thankfully. Boak.

DonkeyDogStoleMyBedroom · 30/04/2022 15:01

Apparently he's claiming it was "a moment of madness".

A lifetime of male entitlement, more like.

OhLordyWhatNow · 30/04/2022 15:03

Can you have two "moment(s)of madness" on separate days? Surely that takes calculation?

greasyshoes · 30/04/2022 16:03

There you are. See why it wasn't worth getting wound up over this one? People in this thread said the whole thing would be ignored after he came up with some excuse. They have been proven wrong. Other people said he would be defended to the hilt. They were also proven wrong (if there's anything that we know about the Tory party, it's that they will happily stab each other in the back to save, or advance, their own careers).

No one needed to come to any premature judgements regarding this case. We just had to wait for due process to be followed. He resigned once he realised his position was no longer tenable, which means that everyone who claimed that there was nothing that could be done about MPs watching porn in the Commons was firmly proven wrong.

Someone did something bad, they realised they did something bad, so they resigned. Case closed, nothing to see here.

Almost, but not quite.

Someone did something bad, thinking it was OK, or at least that they would get away with it. Enough people insisted it wasn't OK that they were forced to resign anyway.

I don't suppose it's ever occurred to you that 'getting wound up' is precisely what makes men like this have to resign. If you all sat around saying, "fine then" why would be jump before he gets pushed?

And the reason we get wound up is because we've all experienced disgusting, entitled male sexuality leaking into our lives. On trains, at work, in the street. Men inflicting their sexual wants on women as audience, unwilling participant or prop. They constantly push, we have to push back.

The bigger question is why a man who feels such obvious contempt for women is here. You could fuck off to Reddit or Twatter and find like minded arseholes to agree with you.

Hear, hear.

SapatSea · 30/04/2022 17:05

He was just wanting to look at a site about lovely tractors!

So well put.

If we don't make it clear this is unacceptable behavior - then it gets more and more prolific and common and then someone somewhere will then then try and push it even further.

TeiTetua · 30/04/2022 17:12

I suppose if you wanted to, you could say that this incident proves that the Tories are opposed to repulsive behaviour like watching pornography in public. When one of their people is caught doing it, he gets removed in disgrace immediately.

Of course you can also say that they're obviously not too fussy about the kind of individual they accept in the first place. And you could ask what the general atmosphere is which made him think he could get away with it.

greasyshoes · 30/04/2022 17:19

You appear to be missing that last past of your post.

Was it I don't...

Understand, or
Like women

You should work on your delivery then. Because every word you write drips with it.

HotPenguin · 30/04/2022 18:25

Wow. What an idiot. And what on earth is he wearing over his shirt while being interviewed?

His wife's comment, effectively "all men do it", is disgusting too.

theDudesmummy · 30/04/2022 18:27

She didn't just say all men do it, she also blamed women for "posing".

Gasp0deTheW0nderD0g · 30/04/2022 18:53

The trafficked women made him do it? Classy.

She said that if women are determined to have autonomy over their own bodies they have to expect men to behave disrespectfully and abusively because that’s what permissiveness means! 😡

I have never seen anyone on here suggest that the Tories are the party of women's rights. But at least they aren't actively campaigning to eradicate women's sex-based rights, unlike Labour, the LibDems, the SNP and the Greens.

I'll take one porn-sick wanker MP over men in women's shelters and rape services.

I guess if you are a misogynist cunt and you want to stay married, you choose someone with a lot of internalised misogyny. Or massive blinkers. “Looking for tractors” for fucks sake.

greasyshoes · 01/05/2022 11:54

Didn't you just do that?

I’m glad he’s resigned

I also think the structure of accountability needs to change as the work environment sounds dinosaur still
