Started a new thread as I can see previous OP hadn’t been on for a while.

I don’t worry about her doing the work. One of the other art teachers I don’t know came up to me and said she was already working at a level standard and was better than the students doing it currently.

@MinionKevin
They would then be mad to not give her Art A level as she clearly is very good at it. What are her other Btech subjects?

MinionKevin · 18/08/2025 15:36

Business (hoping for an 8 but it was a tough paper) and computing - she did a related gcse and is getting a grade 2 distinction in that.

DD passed driving test first time today. Only 2 minors.
She is buzzing. Poor girl hasn't had anything positive happen to her in years so I am so pleased for her. And equally pleased having not having to pay for more driving lessons.

Xx

destiel00 · 19/08/2025 09:43

@DarkChocHolic
Yay!
Congrats to your dd 👏

destiel00 · 19/08/2025 14:05

Dd has told me shes "hoping for 9s" in drama and art.
That's what she was predicted, but external moderation can knock grades down a lot...
Dd and I are both quite tired today so it's going to be a rest day.

MinionKevin · 19/08/2025 15:35

@darkchocholicamazing!

@destiel00DD got her mark for Art but they hadn’t set the grade boundaries. So complicated these days

Good luck to all of you. First summer for a while where we have not been waiting on results. I am so glad school is gone from our horizon. From our experience with art, all my kids did it, our grades never changed from the one given by the teachers. FE colleges definitely are more lenient on grade requirements.

@DarkChocHolic congrats to your dd on the driving test x

destiel00 · 19/08/2025 16:17

Thanks @Okisenough
You are right wrt FE colleges entry requirements - unless dd had a very bad day in her maths and English she should get what shes needs 🤞

Runnerduck34 · 19/08/2025 23:18

Hello everyone, just catching up😊

@DarkChocHolic
Congratulations to your DD, so thrilled for her!!

My DD also passed her driving test last week, and she was beaming, timing was excellent as her friends got their ALevel results the next day(she's just done GCSEs) so often on days like that she gets despondent as she' feels left behind but she had something to celebrate too.
It amazes me that she's so anxious about many things but seems relaxed about driving! No rhyme or reason.

She is getting her GCSE results on Thursday so fingers crossed, and good luck to everyone else getting results on Thursday.

I'm complaining to our LAs yet again as they released details of DDs EHCP in a committee report about the cost of SEN provision which then got picked up by local press, and came up as a news story on my phone just as I got into work.
So that was a bit of a shock. Not to mention a breach of GDPR as there was a lot of identifying information.
Angry because they seem to be using the DDs package for political proganda and of course releasing selective details to prove their point but also angry as I felt I should really complain but it's using up headspace and time which I don't have!

destiel00 · 19/08/2025 23:34

@Runnerduck34
Omg, that's horrendous!
Very well done to your dd on passing her test 👏
Dd is refusing to even consider learning atm...I'm picking my battles 😀

Okisenough · 20/08/2025 00:09

@DarkChocHolic that is utterly horrific and completely out of order. Any child with SEN is not a political football but of course we live in times where our officials/politicians have no compassion. Everyone is just a number to cut. Do whatever is right for you.

Well done to your DD on her test, I doubt my DD will be doing it any time soon. One of my others is about to embark on it though, fingers crossed it's a smooth process.

MinionKevin · 20/08/2025 18:44

DD is stressed about tomorrow….so I am stressed. Roll on mid morning and it’s over

we won’t have this in 2 years as she’s doing Art/BTECs so will have a better idea of how she has done

destiel00 · 20/08/2025 18:54

Same here @MinionKevin
Dd seems ok but 🤷‍♀️
I think she's missing older dd who flies back to the UK today.
It's 6 years since older dds gcse results day...and it seems like yesterday

MinionKevin · 20/08/2025 18:56

its the not know as she has nothing to go on. She did one mock gcse paper and got a 3. Never did the other one.

I know it’ll be fine, just want her to pass maths as she tried to hard. Her teacher said she was one of the greatest turnabouts she’d ever seen, went from a predicted 1 to a 4/5 in a couple of months.

Wow!
That's impressive.
It can be done...older dd got a 3 for maths in her mock and a 6 in the gcse.
🤞

MinionKevin · 20/08/2025 19:01

Oh that’s so great. I have my fingers crossed. I also hope that they mark the mocks hard as well!

@Runnerduck34
Shocked to hear about that echp and potential loss of confidentiality. What absolute shambles....I hope they take your complains seriously and someone gets a telling off. Idiots!!!
Well done to your DD on the driving test. I totally get what you mean about A levels results of her friends and how she would have felt. We had a low moment on A levels results day too. DD should have finished but we are nowhere close..may not even be next year. Oh well!!!!

@destiel00 and @MinionKevin
Will be thinking of you both tomorrow.
Hope you get some sleep tonight.
Xx

destiel00 · 21/08/2025 08:00

Good luck everyone 🍀

destiel00 · 21/08/2025 10:47

Good results here today.
No retakes necessary and a 9 in her passion subject 😮😃
Love and good luck to all 💙🍀

MinionKevin · 21/08/2025 10:53

Passed all, 6 in English which was a shock! And we signed up for a levels no issue which is all we wanted.
No resists here either, well done @destie100

Okisenough · 21/08/2025 10:55

Huge congratulations 🎉 🎉 🎉 so happy for you both x

DarkChocHolic · 21/08/2025 10:56

@MinionKevin and @destiel00
Really pleased for you and the DC.
Hope you have a smashing day relaxing.
Xx

destiel00 · 21/08/2025 10:56

@MinionKevin
Yay!!!!
Fabulous!
✨️

Runnerduck34 · 21/08/2025 22:36

That's fabulous news @MinionKevin
@destiel00
Hope your DC celebrated their good news.
DD also passed the 2 subjects she took this summer, she was a little bit flat as she has as hoping for higher grades( can't shake off grammar school expectations) but I think she did great so onwards and upwards!
