To think it's ok to make myself sick sometimes?

Ok I know not everyone does it. But I make myself sick if I've drunk too much or if I feel like I'm bloated and had loads to eat. It makes me feel better. Today I ate 6 packets of crisps because I feel stressed. I made myself sick. That doesn't mean I have an eating disorder though does it? I feel better, I don't plan to do it again, but I feel better now. Cleansed I suppose.

You need to see a GP or try something to help you relax. The stress is triggering past behavior. I stop eating when I am stressed, I used to get sick. I rarely drink onow only on a night out so I usually drink to much, I can't sleep without getting sick either. I have to throw the alcohol up.

Please stop worrying about Christmas, not to derail but a pal I hung about with as a teen took her life last week, after a few Facebook quotes saying how crappie it is to be broke this time of year. Take time to gather your strength, pre make meals so you do not have lots of crap to make you feel bloated. Be kind to yourself.

Branleuse · 14/11/2018 22:16

I find it quite triggering more than pointless actually.
I know your fame.

Branleuse · 14/11/2018 22:17

People get frustrated with MH issues. As if it's completely in your control. I've noticed that.
I'm not relinquishing responsibility here and I will ring the helpline suggested. But I don't think telling me off or saying 'think of the children' will help.
I'm bright and independent, so being ill doesn't mean I have no capacity to reason.

How about you tell us how much you weigh too.
Maybe post your food diary etc etc

Farontothemaddingcrowd · 14/11/2018 22:18

What's my game, bran? Please do tell me.

PurpleDaisies · 14/11/2018 22:18

No ones forcing you to post bran, and if you’re finding the thread triggering you’re best hiding it.

Farontothemaddingcrowd · 14/11/2018 22:19

I'm 11 stone 1. Bordering on overweight. Is that ok?

OP posts:
Farontothemaddingcrowd · 14/11/2018 22:19

I'm not slim so I'm not sure why you have a problem with me.

PurpleDaisies · 14/11/2018 22:19

op try and see your gp again. You might be lucky and get one with a special interest in eating disorders.

AlpacaLypse · 14/11/2018 22:19

Massive hugs OP. You've already done the biggest step with any addictive disorder, you've acknowledged that it exists and you may be suffering with it. My own understanding is with alcoholism in the family, but as I researched my family member's problem it became more and more obvious how closely related so many compulsive consumption disorders were. You can do this. We will help. xx

Branleuse · 14/11/2018 22:20

What do you expect peoples reactions are going to be to someone saying i regularly make myself sick after eating, haha, its fine isnt it. Surely thats not an eating disorder? Lolz

cricketmum84 · 14/11/2018 22:20

Yes this is bulimia - although I think you know this.

I did it as a teenager, my friend convinced me to see the GP And I was told I didn't have a problem as I was still within normal weight!!

See a different GP, you should be able to self refer for some CBT to help you break this behaviour. You know it's not healthy, both physical and mental.

Hugs and strength.

Farontothemaddingcrowd · 14/11/2018 22:20

I can't believe a poster thinks I've posted to upset them.

Farontothemaddingcrowd · 14/11/2018 22:21

Yeah lol. I'm really happy. Grin
WTF

OP posts:
Farontothemaddingcrowd · 14/11/2018 22:22

You've actually massively triggered me.
I posted because I knew it wasn't normal really.
I feel pretty crap about myself at the moment.

Bluetrews25 · 14/11/2018 22:22

Can you find another way of dealing with your stress - a new coping mechanism that is better than this faulty one?
Relaxation, yoga, writing, painting, sewing, chewing gum, adult colouring books, 'hard' puzzles?
The acid erodes your lower front teeth first.
Vomiting can cause fatal heart attacks, and you may not get a warning. That would not be helpful to your DC.
Bulimics often have normal BMI.

Farontothemaddingcrowd · 14/11/2018 22:23

Sorry bran. I wish you well..you should step away I think as I've somehow upset you.

stopmeifyouveheardthisonebe4 · 14/11/2018 22:24

I think you know it's not OK. Even if the GP will only give you antidepressants and CBT in the future, it is worth taking those options. It's a mental health disorder, and once you have the CBT, apart from it being helpful you may be able to get a referral for more specialist help.
You say you don't have much support, so take anything you can get, from health professionals and ED charities.
Make time for a doctors appointment, please. You need to prioritise yourself to be able to look after your children. Put your own oxygen mask on first. You are not at the bottom of the pile.

Branleuse · 14/11/2018 22:24

Im glad you know it isnt normal.

Its also a shit way to lose weight

PurpleDaisies · 14/11/2018 22:25

bran bulemia isn’t about losing weight. It’s control.

Farontothemaddingcrowd · 14/11/2018 22:25

Oh I know that. It's not about losing weight at all.

OP posts:
stopfuckingshoutingatme · 14/11/2018 22:25

OP very occasionally I do this - needs must

But whilst no
Medical expert it’s worth being honest how often you do this? And read what the stats say
For ratios etc
Flowers

Farontothemaddingcrowd · 14/11/2018 22:26

It's self harm for me.

OP posts:
BlancheM · 14/11/2018 22:28

Mine started as a way to lose weight or so I thought at the time. Little did I know I'd be stuck with another demon for life. It never goes away.
People always come out with the rotting teeth thing but mine are in perfect nick after 15 years. Is it true about vomiting causing heart attacks true? That is terrifying
