Anyone have experience with bipolar?

Sorry, already posted this on another thread, but I would be greatful for answers!

There had been mention of a bipolar diagnosis, don't know what to do. Ok I was a bit hyper in therapy today, but I'm just happy. I have to fill out a mood/depression chart thing and I have honestly had nothing to grumble about the past few weeks.

I've picked up more shifts at work, I don't need as much sleep, my spending has been a bit bad ok, I'll admit that, but I'm not in huge debt or anything. I get by. My DP said I sounded hyper on the phone after I left CBT this morning, but I was just being chatty? Nothing wrong with being a bit happy and chatty surely!

Does anyone have any experience of this?

You’re one of us now [santa]

Hope you’re doing ok.

He just kept saying the bipolar spectrum and how I was hypomanic. So bipolar 2? He never said which one. I've been prescribed Aripiprazole, Zoplicone (temporally to help me sleep) he was reluctant to take me off Sertraline as he didn't want me to take a massive dip again. So I'm still on that.

He was torn between Aripiprazole or the other one, begins with an O? Can't remember.

Olanzapine?

I’ve never had a ‘type’, all the letters from the psychiatrist always use ICD codes so F31 (bipolar) dot whatever last episode or remission. Pretty sure I’ve only ever been hypomanic but I’ve been hospitalised with hypomania so maybe they’re just being polite?

No Idea. He was really nice though and easy to talk to. Felt like I could say anything, like I was just having a conversation in my living room with a friend. Although I'm really bad for oversharing and getting too excited when I see someone is on the same page and understands.

I was probably talking shite haha, and I found it so hard not to talk over him and just sat there trying not to fidget with arms flapping while I was talking Blush

Yes that rings a bell @WhyDidIEatThat He also mentioned lamotrigine I had to google, I knew it began with an L but settled on aripiprazole.

I was still talking his ears off when we left the room 😂 literally like he was just a pal having a wee catch up.

Lithium and olanzapine. I have tried lots of other things over the years with lithium but they were either pointless or disastrous. Mostly just lithium on its own.

BippityBoppity87 · 04/12/2018 20:40

That's what he was going to give me @WhyDidIEatThat but said he didn't want to go by 'text book', so is keeping me on sertraline for now. I really like him, I felt like I could actually have a proper conversation and say what I think would work for me or not, without being told 'No! You need to have this! Or take this!' He left the option open.

I love that I had someone to talk to who actually understood, gave me a warm fuzzy feeling ☺️

Shall we start a new thread? Just a nice, shiny new one for people who have bipolar? It's ok if no one wants to!

OP posts:
FissionChips · 04/12/2018 20:54

I think that’s a great idea!

Btw, I’m glad today went well for you.

BippityBoppity87 · 04/12/2018 21:08

If you, or anyone wants to, I'll be on board 😊

I'm up for that, life seems to be falling apart so fellow bipolars who understands would be great 😁 x

gingerfreckles · 04/12/2018 22:42

Can I join the new thread? I've just changed username but I'm a regular reader and been following this thread. I was diagnosed this year and taking lithium and paroxatine
