I don't need to see any depravity on house calls thank you.

Ennn · 05/02/2015 19:57

The kiddy bin was crawling with fleas. And scabies mites Hmm

Ennn · 05/02/2015 19:57

Mmmmmm. Depraved Grin

CaulkheadUpNorth · 05/02/2015 19:58

The area I work is in the bottom 2% of poverty in the country. I've seen it all Sad

Ennn · 05/02/2015 20:04

My friend Mavis had a psychiatrist and retinue turn up at her door once when someone at the Jobcentre thougt she was suicidal. She screamed at them to go away, so they did Grin

Mentalpsychiatrist · 05/02/2015 20:06

Not much use going away if someone is actually suicidal. I've been turned away at quite a few houses though.

CaulkheadUpNorth · 05/02/2015 20:09

What happens if you tell a psychiatrist you are suicidal/ have a plan etc? When I told the gp last year he just sent me to a and e. Is it the same?

I'm with housemates eating ice cream and a) I hate ice cream and b) I have ice cream

SnowyMouse · 05/02/2015 20:11

I always make the mistake of opening the door.

Mentalpsychiatrist · 05/02/2015 20:11

We try to talk you out of it, medicate if necessary and refer to the crisis team.

CaulkheadUpNorth · 05/02/2015 20:13

Gp friend said there is a trap door between the cmht and the psychiatric hospital but other than knowing he was wrong, I wasn't sure what was right.

Mentalpsychiatrist · 05/02/2015 20:14

Trap door?

Ennn · 05/02/2015 20:16

We try to talk you out of it

Not strictly true.

Have never had a psychiatrist try to talk me out of suicide Hmm

I have had them tell me that it's my choice and my responsibility to make that decision if I want to. I've also had nurses tell me that's bullshit and if I try they can lock me up Grin It's all a bit fucked up really.

CaulkheadUpNorth · 05/02/2015 20:17

Yep. He used to work in the local psychiatric hospital so I generally go to him for most of my advice at what to say and what not to say. So when I asked him he said that the trap door would transport people straight away to the hospital, that sort of thing. Wink

SnowyMouse · 05/02/2015 20:19

do you mean they are gatekeepers? I got told the crisis team are gatekeepers for the hospital.

Mentalpsychiatrist · 05/02/2015 20:19

Not so easy to get people into hospital these days with the bed shortages.

Mentalpsychiatrist · 05/02/2015 20:19

Crisis team are gatekeepers.

Ennn · 05/02/2015 20:23

Crisis team are gatekeepers.

Why am I visualising ASWs in cheery jumpers with halberds Hmm

Mentalpsychiatrist · 05/02/2015 20:24

Ha, I like that image!

Ennn · 05/02/2015 20:24

"HALT who goes there and have you tried Valium and a milky drink?"

Mentalpsychiatrist · 05/02/2015 20:25

ASWs don't exist any more though, we know have AMHPs.

toothpasteinthetree · 05/02/2015 20:26

Shuddering at thought of trapdoor.

Local one here is CMHT downstairs, wards on middle floor, ECT right at the top. Lots of euphemisms about going upstairs etc.

Mentalpsychiatrist · 05/02/2015 20:26

Now not know, stupid phone.

Ennn · 05/02/2015 20:26

Like this but with worse fashion sense

would you rather be Mentally Normal or fat?
Ivytheterrible · 05/02/2015 20:27

Crisis team are the trap door to hospital here. Twice I've been 'treated' by them and both times been put into hospital as I was too ill for them to help apparently. Now I avoid them like the plague just in case...

Ennn · 05/02/2015 20:27

AMHPs then.

I haven't seen any who aren't social workers though. Can't say I've seen the psychiatric nurses clamouring for AMHP status.
