DrasticMeasures
I've been in the place where you are now. trust me when I say that you urgently need to get more professional-mental-health assistance than you're getting.
There are definitely things they can do to make you feel better than you're feeling now.
With me that was medication.
If you're already taking medication then it obviously isn't working very well - the psychiatrist needs to know that, so they can up the dosage or change you to a different medication.
The main reason to get in contact with them right now is that the sooner you call them, the sooner they can help you feel better.
you can call the psychiatric emergency number and tell them you've been having thoughts about hurting yourself. You don't have to be specific if you thing you'd feel stupid telling them about the foot/car thing. Tell them you have started making a plan about how you might seriously hurt yourself, but you don't want to share the details of that plan.
You're not at all likely to be sectioned. You don't need to worry about that.
What they will probably do is run you through the Beck Depression Inventory - it's a questionnairre which you can find here:
www.fehb.org/CSE/CCSEConference2012/BeckDepressionInventory.pdf
- you can do these questions by yourself at home, so - frankly - you know what answers to give to get the help you need.
I found it helped me to be honest to know in advance what the questions were going to be - the first time I did it at home, I filled in what I would probably have told the doctor - "oh, I'm fine, a bit down maybe" and I saw that that would not give me a score high enough to get help, so I went to the doctor and told the truth, which was that I saw no point in living and wanted to die.
You'd be amazed how quickly the right medication - or other treatment if you've got different preferences - can help you.
But what you're getting at the moment obviously isn't helping much - or not as much as you need - so you need to make that phone call if you want to stop feeling this way.
