it would damage it, wouldn't it? What might happen?

I was sitting on my motorbike once wearing NON steal toe capped boots and a car ran over my foot; hardly felt it and no damage whatsoever!

DrasticMeasures · 30/05/2012 13:40

Thank you. Will think of something else.

Well if you are not able to manage you need to go to the doctor and explain. The doctor will be able to help you and will probably get you signed off for stress. There is no point in making things up when it sounds like you have a problem anyway. Hope you are OK.

CailinDana · 30/05/2012 13:41

If you can't manage then you are stressed. The doctor will definitely sign you off, he/she won't tell you to carry on. You're thinking of self harming in order to get some rest, that shows a very high level of stress. Just go and tell your GP exactly how you feel, he/she will totally understand.

DrasticMeasures · 30/05/2012 13:41

I'm not going to make anything up.

ItsAllGoingToBeFine is right, you're considering self-harm which is in itself a serious thing, and a probable symptom of depression. Go to your GP and talk honestly to them.

Sparklingbrook · 30/05/2012 13:42

I feel bad now Drastic I am sorry if I made you say more than you wanted to. Sad

CailinDana · 30/05/2012 13:42

You won't be making anything up if you go to be signed off for stress/depression. It will be the truth.

What's going through your head at the moment OP?

chipmunksex · 30/05/2012 13:42

This is not the answer. You should speak to your gp, tell him what you've been considering, you don't sound like you're thinking straight.

Do you have a dp/dh?

DrasticMeasures · 30/05/2012 13:44

That's ok Sparkling.

I do have depression but it's being treated and I feel ok. I'm content. I've been signed off but I just can't go back to work. I don't know why. I like being at home, by myself without pressure. I know that's lame. I was hoping to stick my foot under DP's car when he reversed but if it won't break it, there's no point.

OP posts:
RichManPoorManBeggarmanThief · 30/05/2012 13:44

How are you going to run over your foot when you have to drive the car? Please don't stick your foot in front of a random car- that's really unfair on the driver, or worse, you could be pulled underneath it.

Aso, my 2 personal experiences are

  • Me: Nothing. Hurt and toes looked a bit flat but all ok the next day
  • My ex- 4 broken toes that never healed properly

There's no real rhyme or reason to why mine was so much less serious- the car was bigger than the one that ran over ex-bf.

TeWiDoesTheHulaInHawaii · 30/05/2012 13:45

Well I didn't even get sent home from school after the car-foot-incident, so I really wouldn't advise it.

You need to go to the GP and get signed off for stress. They will do it and they might be able to offer something to help (counselling?)

DrasticMeasures · 30/05/2012 13:46

The only other thing I can think of is falling off a ladder but that's a bit risky.

OP posts:
neolara · 30/05/2012 13:46

I think if you explain to your GP that you've been seriously thinking about ways you can harm yourself so you don't have to go to work, he / she will probably be quite concerned and will probably sign you off or at the very least try to think of some other kind of plan to support you. I know you say you don't want people to think you can't cope, but the reality is it sounds like at the moment you really can't cope. There's no shame in that. Better to admit it and try to get a bit of respite than struggle on and sink further and further downwards.

TeWiDoesTheHulaInHawaii · 30/05/2012 13:47

Drastic you may seriously hurt yourself, go back to the GP.

Why can't you quit your job?

ItsAllGoingToBeFine · 30/05/2012 13:47

Drastic: you are obviously not ok and content if you feel the need to self harm to stay away from work.

Go talk to your GP again. Maybe some counselling would help as well?

Sparklingbrook · 30/05/2012 13:48

Drastic, think about your DC, you can't look after them if you injure yourself, or are in hospital.

Please think about seeing your GP.

DrasticMeasures · 30/05/2012 13:49

Being signed off with depression/ stress is seen as a serious weakness in my job and I'm already in trouble with work for being off for a couple of weeks with a legitimate reason.

I don't know what else to do. My dr will just tell me to carry on. Theres no real reason I don't want to work, I just don't. I'd rather be hurt

OP posts:
5inthebed · 30/05/2012 13:50

You definitely don't sound fine.

You're trying to think of a self harm way you can get out of work.

Please, go back to your GP and get signed off and get some medication/counselling.

MarvellousYou · 30/05/2012 13:50

I think maybe it's best not to mention how we've hurt ourselves in the past, if it worked etc. I know that's what the OP asked for but I think it's obvious she just wants a way out and getting help before se harms would be better.

OP has your workplace got an occupational health nurse or department that deals with sick leave? Are you worried they won't believe you are seriously Ill and can't cope?

wheniwishuponastar · 30/05/2012 13:51

Why dont you resign?

ItsAllGoingToBeFine · 30/05/2012 13:51

OP has already said she can't afford not to work.

TeWiDoesTheHulaInHawaii · 30/05/2012 13:52

Well fuck work, so what about what they think.

You could get a different job? What else would you like to do?

MarvellousYou · 30/05/2012 13:52

Sorry was distracted and x posted. What about seeing GP and see how they react and then come back here if they won't sign you off?

MarvellousYou · 30/05/2012 13:53

I was in a similar position and in the end I had to take time off. There was no other way, faked migraines and all sorts.
